  1. I actually went to 10 games this year. The territory I cover for work includes Minnesota, Wisconsin, Nebraska and Illinois (Northwestern) and I have flexibility in my schedule. Purdue, Indiana and Ohio State are within driving distance. I fluked into being in Raleigh visiting IT Junior when they Virginia Tech in Charlotte and two high school buddies had an extra ticket. I was visiting relatives for the Crossover at Kinnick. Mrs. IT went with me to a few games, but I told her that for the full CC experience, we had to go to a home game, so we made a 21-hour trip to Iowa and back that included the Penn State (Stuehlke) game. Just yesterday we bought tickets for the May 30 game in Indy.
  2. It was Twins and White Sox. What else do you need to know?
  3. I'm a Hawkeye. Every year on the day after Thanksgiving, I turn on the TV and just know that Nebraska is going to find a way to lose. Same thing when watching the White Sox. And it's a good start to Hosiery Week.
  4. I'll go ahead and say it for the rest of you. Mendick would have had a triple if the ground wasn't so soft.
  5. Steve Stone after Berroa hits Castro: "This will keep your walk total down." That pretty much sums up the season so far for Stoney and the Sox. EDIT to add: And now they've moved on to showing Brewers-Rays boxing highlights.
  6. I don't have TV access, so this is one of the first games I've been able to see. Night and day seeing him leg that to second compared to last year. EDIT to add: And score from second.
  7. I think he's improved from last year. Last year it felt like he thought he needed to use every item in the press notes by the third inning. But yeah, lots of repeating things, along with naming every jersey in the crowd. He's just a month into the full-time gig, so hopefully he keeps heading in the right direction.
  8. Sox announcers talking about how much stronger the AL Central is this year because the Sox are only 2-16 against the division. The Central may be stronger, but I'm not sure that's the data point that proves it.
  9. I think Kepler could have turned and ran into the shortstop while the catcher was holding the ball and gotten the call.
  10. I've had a few times when I was thinking of something I wasn't capable of. I remember a time in a Vintage Base Ball game where I doubled into the gap and nearly got thrown out trying to stretch it into a single.
  11. Not tonight. Periodontal procedure this morning, so two bowls of pudding, three soft cheese snacks, a bowl of ice cream and a collection of Tylenol.
  12. Like Chief, I had a long drive as well. Got stopped by a cop. After he asked, "Do you know why I stopped you," he kept pestering me to answer. He wouldn't even let me finish my phone call.
  13. Is "summer sausage" a regional thing? It makes for great discussion, but it's actually not THAT unhealthy to be handled in the way the team is doing it. As such, I prefer it with cheese and crackers, such as on a charcuterie board. "Charcuterie," by the way, is a French word meaning, "Didn't have enough bread for sandwiches."
