  1. Halfway to the hitting-with-the-bases-loaded cycle.
  2. Two outs, bases loaded. Something seems familiar about this.
  3. At what temp is a vodka tonic medium rare?
  4. I assume that goes down as a right-handed strikeout, even though two of the strikes were lefty?
  5. I'm a big fan of holding out for boxes of Twinkies.
  6. Garver's quite a teammate. Last year he switched to No. 18 to let Cruz have No. 23. Hopefully next year doesn't lead to a new number in deference to our re-signing Robbie Grossman or Jonathan Schoop.
  7. All caps — “HERE” Initial caps — “Here” Take your pick.
  8. And 512 probably also represents the number of times they've shown it this year. But on the bright side, they could have showed "Brewster's Millions" one more time.
  9. And by "Ron" Shelton, I think you mean "Derek," though Ron Shelton did turn his 512 minor league games into Bull Durham.
  10. The Cubs just signed Ryan LaMarre to a minor league contract. And now I can't quit thinking about going to QuikTrip:
  11. Thanks, Spencer, and I join others in being sorry for your loss. Mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's three years ago and is on the road, to quote my favorite folksinger, John McCutcheon, "between good and gone." Though I don't remember ever playing ball or watching games together, it's not unusual to see a game on television when I arrive. Baseball cards occasionally showed up in my lunch box, and she taught herself a rudimentary way to keep score when she went to games. McCutcheon's song of about his dad is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQWy8aLNaZ4. If you get caught up, try this as well:
  12. I'd argue that the drop from No. 1 to No. 2 is bigger at catcher than at any other position, save perhaps shortstop. Then, take into account that you need two catchers and that the drop from No. 2 to No. 3 is also huge, I have to go with Garver.
  13. Fifteen. I look at the roster and say, "Even the 15th dude on the staff has the ability to contribute." I like that.
  14. I'm sure this post has good insights, but I had to stop and clean the drool off my keyboard after you said "homemade crab cakes"...
  15. Aw, the chicken probably would have been burnt anyway.
  16. Forgot that Pat Hughes actually began his broadcasting career with the Twins.
  17. Blackout victim. As I would be for about 35 games if I got MLB.TV. I would be able to get a whopping five games out of the final 28 games of the season!
  18. Cubs radio guys have been complimentary of a couple of Sano defensive plays. What say ye who have been watching?
  19. How 'bout that Bomba Squad, coming up with a couple big runs?
