  1. I hope that he was given a choice. By contrast, I used to have baseball cards of “Bob Clemente,” which was unfortunate, because he regularly requested people to use his actual first name.
  2. Ocho Cinco in reverse would be 58. (But if you are talking about the football player, it would have been 85 Chad, since he went by “Chad Ochocinco.”)
  3. Last night was also only the second unearned run of the season.
  4. Up later than I wanted to be here in EDT, but oh, well. I can catch up on sleep if I turn off the camera during tomorrow’s Zoom calls.
  5. I seem to recall Mr. Kepler providing a festive ending to an exciting extra-inning game last year. This seems like a good time to reprise that.
  6. On the bright side, Buxton will start the 12th on second. If we’re not going to score, the double play was a good thing. I’d rather have Buxton on second and Avila-Kepler-Polanco instead of Avila on second and Kepler-Polanco-Cave.
  7. Oops. Didn’t think about that Hader would have to be used as the runner, so he’s been pulled.
  8. Yes. Last batter of the previous inning.
  9. And Hader last pitched on Friday and Sunday, so I wouldn’t be surprised we see him in the 11th as well. (Especially if the Brewers score.)
  10. Garver is the last guy on the bench, so the options seem to be: Garver or Avila to 1b Cave in the OF, with Kepler coming in to 1B and losing the DH.
  11. Well, apparently everyone but the home plate ump knew that Gonzalez should be walked!
  12. Isn’t the play here to walk Gonzalez to set up the double play for the rookie?
  13. And for the record, the Brewers have sacrificed their DH, though the pitcher’s spot is nine hitters away.
  14. You mean other than the squeeze plays in two of the last three games? (Edit: Ninja’ed.)
  15. I’m guessing Hader is pretty tough to bunt on.
  16. Foul by a bit. The line looks more like about Iron River, Wis.
  17. Sure would be nice if Cruz at least gets on so that if end up in the 10th, it’s not him at second base. The Brewers have Pina and have used both catchers.
  18. It’s also been another of those games where it could have easily been a five- or six-run lead heading into the ninth.
  19. I get that Marwin is more experienced at first than Sano, but I sure would have liked the extra three inches of height on receiving that throw.
  20. And batters are now 9 for 87 (.103) in the first two times through the order.
