  1. Why is he being considered with those metrics?
  2. Do we have any ideas what their contracts are like with the Twins & what the penalties would be if they break the contract?
  3. ¡Que menso!! That’s just so dumb. I don’t get why these professional athletes can’t seem to understand that they need to clear things with the team.
  4. What horrible news!! Pineda had been doing great! It’s so frustrating that these athletes can’t manage to keep track of what they’re putting in their bodies to avoid issues like this. Without Pineda im their playoff rotation the Twins have no chance to advance beyond the ALDS. And with this loss they might not even win the division. Any optimism I had for the playoffs is now gone with Berríos looking terrible, Gibson hurt, and now Pineda gone.
  5. Great article! I’d like to see the same analysis for Kepler & Buxton, and maybe also Gonzalez since he’s also played outfield a fair amount with Buxton hurt.
  6. How did Astudillo have a positive WPA when he made a couple of poor plays? He was thrown out at home because he forgot that he's a tortuga who thinks he's a hare and he didn't run hard. And then he gave up a run on the double steal by throwing to second and everyone was safe. I thought in that situation you're supposed to just give up the stolen base to protect the plate.
  7. These are my favorite articles on TD! Thanks Heezy1323 for helping us understand the medical side of baseball injuries. Your articles are always very clear & well written.
  8. Ok, these articles are getting ridiculous. The season is young. Opposing teams will adjust & the Twins will stop hitting HRs and when they do they'll stop winning. I think a record better than .500 is just about guaranteed at this point, but playoff success is not. Baseball is a game of video & adjustments. Opposing pitchers will figure out how to beat the Twins' swings. Just look at how Astudillo has fallen apart once teams started figuring out how to pitch to him. The same thing will happen to Cron, Schoop, Rosario, Kepler, Buxton, etc. Sanó still is not a viable hitter, just look at his performance last night. And the pitching staff will get figured out too. I'm just waiting for some team to figure out Perez's new cutter and start teeing off on him. The same thing with Odorizzi. At some point teams will figure him out & they'll start taking batting practice against him like last year. It's just unrealistic to expect anything more from the Twins. They never succeed.
  9. In this modern age of cameras and analytics I'm sure teams will figure out his cutter. Enjoy this run while it lasts because it's unlikely to continue.
  10. Why move Kepler to 1B when his defense in RF is so good? Seems like that would cost the Twins in DRS... I love the Astudillo idea and want to see "La tortuga" play every day!
  11. Positional flexibility is key. Kepler could play some 1B, although I feel like his defense is more valuable in the outfield. Rosario used to play 2B in the minors and his OF defense seems to have declined substantially. Would it be a good fit to look at moving him back to the infield? Does he have the athleticism to play other IF positions like 3B or SS on occasion? And what about Astudillo? It sure is fun to watch him play!
  12. What does the math say?
  13. The base-running was awful! Why are the Twins so poorly coached that their players don't know what to do?
  14. No brainer to tell him to rest & get healthy. Shut him down when the AAA season ends so he can focus on his health & next season.
  15. I’ve always brought my own water bottle. I didn’t realize food was allowed. What’s the free coupon at the DD booth? I hadn’t heard about this program before.
  16. Escobar was my favorite Twin for a number of years. It's disappointing to see him go. I started paying attention to him after a blog post on Twins Daily by Brad Swanson. http://twinsdaily.com/blog/89/entry-4529-introducing-the-eddie-400/ I think that article, which was written in the 2013-2014 offseason, is a great summary of why Escobar was so beloved in Twins Territory.
  17. Thanks for the game recaps. I really enjoy them as they're my go-to source for what happened in the games. One thought - perhaps in the WPA section you could show the players that had the biggest impact, positive or negative on each game. I think that would be more interesting than just showing the top 3 most positive, especially when the Twins lose. But even in wins it would be interesting to see who had a negative impact on the game. And perhaps expand the list even larger than just 3 players. Thanks!
  18. Fascinating info about this surgery! Do you work in a medical field that you are so knowledgeable about it?
