Holy Guacamole Batman!!! I'll have what he is having. 😁 I like the lead in with the Disney movie except now Disney is really Corporate Cruella Deville. So I think not. (POOF) IYKYK All this jibber jabbering aside. The Pohlads should pay me 40% of the average MLB Head of Baseball Operations to oversee the team. Then (see I waited until they gave me the position and then Boom) provide for a team salary range of $160-$180 that goes up each year by the same % MLB team salaries go up. So, if the MLB average goes up from $175M to $180M, (a 2.85% gain) then the salary range would $164.48 to $185.04) [Editor's (me) Note: This is a Cruelle Deville Production the idea should feel like selling 101 puppies] First off is Manager: Much as I like the Hamm's Bear, he notified me he is off the market due to Mrs. Hamm's Bear request. We need a manager and coaches who can take hitters to the next level instead of back to Dominican Summer League levels as well as coaches who make the Twins play fundamentally sound baseball of Tom Kelley's time. After 5 years, (seems I used 5 years in another post too), the Pohlads can sell the team and I get a percentage if the Twins have a winning record. The percentage goes up with playoffs appearances, division title, get to the league championship series, win the league championship and win the WS. If they don't sell the team, my percentages will be applied to the current value of the Twins less the value of the Twins when I am hired. If the value goes to $2B it would be $2B - $1.7B for a $300,000,000 gain. (I figure the bonus steps of Bux Truck would work, (percentages)) Uh Oh. Cruelle Deville just called the Pohlads and I have been fired before I even got hired. [well now, this wandered all over the place. it shouldn't need to be said, don't take this seriously. Remember Cruella Deville is lurking] My motivation for taking an artificially low salary.

OK, I'll Bite. My options in no order. Hamms Bear - Tell me you don't want to see the Bear go after the umps. La Tortuga - Just because I like the nickname Some unknown hack, a local who played catcher, lucked into a HoFer, Old what's his name...oh yeah Joe Mauer. Bert Blyleven - I have a fever for more Curveballs. What this team needs is More Curveballs. M&M Boys as co-managers, why not? Can have an M&M Bobblehead Day with the M&M candies. Kent Hrbek and he can incorporate some old AWA toughness and Greg Gagne (IYKYK) as a bench manager Lets go WAYYYYYYY back to a player manager and make it Walker Jenkins he can debut in the field and in the managerial hot seat. Robert Van Scoyoc Mgr and Mike/Greg Maddux as pitching coaches.

110% accurate about spending. Hence why I wanted $1.7B crowd funding to buy this off the owners who tried to sell of the team for $250M. I really like a lot of the pieces we have, but changes must be made to move to the next level. The approach the Pohlads have had of the Fans must attend for us to spend money is bass ackwards. Provide a winning team and the fans will be there. It has always just rubbed me the wrong way how the Pohlads, (there are other major sports owners who are the same so it's not unusual) viewed the Twins. If had a restaurant and took the approach that I will only provide a good menu of food and service once I started having diners I wouldn't last 2 weeks. In fact, I probably wouldn't get it open. I also don't want to throw money stupidly at players, (yes, I see you Cleveland Browns and QB Watson), either. I miss TK and his approach. Or Gardy and the Piranhas. Why? Because they were fundamentally sound. I feel our talent level has improved since the Swarming of the Piranhas, (loved that it got under Ozzie's skin), but our fundamentals have dropped. I still am baffled how we have taken hitters who have raked through all the minor league levels and drove them towards the Mendoza line. There are a lot of good pieces and processes there have to be other changes to move up. Unfortunately, we are in the Era of the Pohlads.

Ah, a MN Twins fan, Skeptical. But honestly, you are 100% right to be skeptical. There is more luck in winning a WS than most people think and it is just one of the things you cannot control but a big one along with injuries. But it's like that meme, the odds you being killed by a deranged duck are very low. But they are not zero. Right now, as a lifelong Twins fan, I feel our odds are worse than being killed by a deranged duck. I am surprised more people didn't call me out this. And for the record, I didn't post it as "rage bait" either. Let's hope that our odds of winning a WS at least gets above the Deranged Duck Odds line.

Here's my RANT. Give me the $1.7B and eliminate the current owners, and this team can be perennial playoff team and WS contender. They do draft well and have been developing pitching better than they ever have. Spending money wisely hasn't been this ownership's strong suit, in fact reading that they were willing to contract the team for $250M brings bile up for the depths. Guarantee if you produce the team, you will get the fans. It is NOT the other way around Dearest Pohlads. I guarantee a WS in 5 years or I will resign. While doing it, pay me substantially less than any other owner or top-level MLB guy, but if I win the WS then I collect a jackpot. The MN Twins fans have been beaten into pessimistic submission. I grew up in EGF, but before that lived in Hopkins and one of earliest ever memories was a game at the old Metropolitan Stadium, and I am tired of the MN fans being between down because supposedly we can't win in MN because it is a Small Market Team. F--- That. Is there risk, absolutely, but there are positives, but the negatives start at OWNERSHIP and are forced down the throats of everyone else while they are told to "Smiles everyone, Smiles". OK Rant over. PS - why yes, I am that confident, not arrogant and even though I have had a fantastic career elsewhere, I should have been in the business of building sports teams. PSS - as a typical MN, I have to apologize for being so confident let alone expressing it. PPSS - (this is like goodbye at your relatives, even in winter you stand outside the front door for an hour or two), Buxton WANTS to be here. When was the last time the Twins had a talent, (yes I know he has been hurt), like this who wanted TO STAY. Happy National Coffee Day everyone

Derek Falvey’s Pitch for Hope in Twins Territory
EGFTShaw replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Technically it was a return to the top of the Central vs a WS, but I get your point. I don't remember that feeling regarding the Twins after the 85 season, but it sure wasn't WS hope. That said, I ponder how we can develop pitchers, which we never could do very well, but we seem to fall flat on our faces with the hitters. I don't see that kind of turn around. But if they don't sell off the proven assets, then they have a decent floor for competing in the Central. For a WS appearance to happen, a lot of things must change AND go right, and quite frankly the Germans have outlawed miracles. (ripped off from Casablanca) This This This I am OK so far with the pitching development pipeline, but the other side. How do we take hitters who rake in every level of the minors and not coach them into at LEAST MLB average players. I am SHOCKED. Shocked there is lack of player development here (another rip off from Casablanca)- 64 replies

This, also on The Athletic, (Projecting what MLB realignment might look like with expansion on the horizon - The Athletic) has a better alignment with expansion. Twins stay with Clev, Tigers, ChiSox with KC moving to a division with Houston, Texas and Rockies switching leagues. AL East: NYY, BlueJays, Boston, Bal AL South: Houston, Colorado, Texas, KC AL North: MN, Det, Chi, Cle AL West: LV, LAA, Seattle and Expansion Team NL East: NYM, Nats, Philly and Pitt NL South: Atlanta, Miami, Tampa(league switch) and Expansion team NL North: Cubs, Reds, Mil and StL NL West: LAD, SD, SF and AZ

I discounted Keaschall as I consider him all but graduated. After that I would go with the 2 at a premium position, Tait and Culpepper, assuming we discount the pitchers. But even including the pitchers I think I would slot Culpepper into #2. Tait, and you cannot ignore that Big If, stays behind the plate, he would be 2.5 I like our prospects a lot. I am seriously beginning to wonder about some of our big-league coaches though, I don't understand how you cannot help a young player improve to at least be average who has proven in the past to be able to do X, Y or Z. Some of it's talent but hard work, good coaching can bring you to average. I am thinking of Julien for example at the moment.

He is NOT a villian. I stand by this. As I understand it from reading on The Athletic, Twins management & C4 talked about the direction the team is taking which is different from the direction when they signed C4. It is not on C4 to negotiate the trade. All players go through good years and bad years. This is risk you take when signing any player, either as FA or a contract extension. Given the direction of the FO and Owners it is clear these moves are to help with the financial optics of selling the team. They have a greater than normal debt associated with the team which drives down the overall value. The Pohlads in the decades of ownership, although probably better than the Griffins, have not be known for spending to make the team successful. I think they missed a HUGE opportunity to take this team to next level financially and competively, but they decided to cut salary instead of working to improve things for the team/fans. So, although C4 slipped, (injuries or something else), isn't a reason to vilify him. Players like Jimmy Buckets IS a player to vilify. I honestly wish him the best of luck.

First, applaud the outside the batter's box thinking. Second, I didn't get from the article this was a long-term plan, just the rest of this season to see what we have in these players in real MLB world scenarios. So, I like it. The more experience these young players get, the better chance of succeeding long term. I am assuming Pablo comes back. I think it could be Option 2 to let Ober get his feet under himself again and then maybe Option 3 to verify this year that Ober has reset himself. 👍👍

Nuggats. :) not Nuggets. IYKYK lol No particular order because my brain doesn't function in order... C4 = Bad trade because you should have gotten even a lottery ticket prospect back for taking on 1/3 of his salary. Duran/Jax/Varland: Duran happened, good return at the moment. It could be great or a bust. But has potential. Jax requested a trade, so I understand it from that aspect, and it is good at the moment it is like Duran, could go either way. Varland, although the return was good but I do NOT understand trading all 3 top relievers away especially since they were ALL under team control. Brock Stewart: F Not so much I valued Brock that much but Outland coming back is worth about a bucket of baseballs. Like the Houston trade, they should have gotten a better player in return, at least one that has a more likely upside. The free agents to be, I think they were all good because you are handicapped on rentals. Fun Fact: Paddack has pitched in 3 Twins/Tigers games this year and is 0-3. So it gets a bump because this time we got the W. 😄

Twins have shown to be able to develop pitchers. So, the pitchers with potential I can see a future. With hitters, I don't feel the same. Rooker wasn't developed by the Twins but look at him now.

It was vague. I assumed it was one or the other but as I read it, I wasn't sure anymore. I am with BigDave, don't trade your future away. Ryan has stopped 2 losing streaks recently. That is what you want your front-line pitchers to do. I am not anointing him as an Ace yet, just noting he is doing what you want your Ace to do. There are No 1 SP and there are Aces. They are not the same. I am OK trying to sell of the expiring contracts, but unless there is something in the makeup of Jax, Duran, Ryan, I am NOT selling them off. Well maybe one of Jax/Duran for an equivalent haul of Herschel Walker trade.

That's the reason Bowden is no longer a GM. He states that Ryan as No1 potential and we get back essentially a bucket of baseballs. Whenever I DO read a Bowden article I inevitably give it a Thumbs Down rating. I want to give it a Dumbs Down rating but it's not an option
