  1. That's a good question. He better hire a VERY GOOD lawyer at this point because he might be ineligible for a work VISA depending on the outcome of this incident in the Dominican. The US immigration official will likely make a determination the next time he attempts to apply for a VISA. If convicted (doesn't sound like he's going to be and he's LUCKY) he could be ineligible and have to file an I-192 waiver for "Legal Forgiveness."
  2. There's no doubt about it. He's a playboy. He'd be much better off in New York where he can get shofered from one night club to the next with his fellow athletes. They at least could keep an eye on him, because he's obviously pretty dumb when it comes to this kind of behavior. Anyhow he's lucky this happened in the Dominican and not the USA. A hit and run charge, assault (via his vehicle) of a police officer, DUI, would be EASY multiple felony convictions in every US state.
  3. they need to get off to a good start next season and pitching largely wasn't the problem, besides Molitor's insane usage of the bullpen. Somehow someway they have to get production from Sano and Buxton as well as the infield. Money absolutely should not be a problem this offseason with Mauer coming off the books.
  4. wow i'm shocked! Wasn't expecting this. They should have grabbed Torey Lovullo instead of handing it to Molitor.
  5. Yes, thank you Joe. If this is your last season just want to thank you for your time with the Twins and I wish you all the best in all your future endeavors. Take care.
  6. yeah i don't get it either. I still don't understand what this team is doing with the pen. They have a couple of other options in AAA such as Jake Reed who had ANOTHER fine season down there. The Front office must have forgotten about him or something.
  7. I don't like it in principle but it's kinda an interesting way to get young pitchers feet wet at the major league level. If it works heck why not.
  8. I am encouraged by the last outing. He has shown progression something i hope Gonsalves does at some point. I will gladly eat crow on Stewart. I was not impressed with his 2017 minor league numbers, but he does appear to have the pure stuff, whereas Gonsalves appears to be a nibbler. I like this approach they have been taking with him lately. Let someone else start the first inning and bring him in on a reduced pressure setting and settle in. Eventually if he keeps improving he can move up and make traditional starts.
  9. tell that Levine and Falvey because apparently they don't think so. sorry.
  10. Like i said CONSISTENCYYYYY.....2017 he hit .147 in March / April, .254 in May, .184 in June, .387 July (10 games), .324 in August (great month), .270 in Sept. / Oct. 2018 In April/March .192 and May .122. Need to see consistency, until then Cave.
  11. The guy can barely hit .200 and you want him to take over Cave's starting job to finish the season? okayyyy......
  12. Yeah really. I can't understand how some folks insist he is one of the Twins best players and should be called up immediately because he's hitting in AAA. Look we've seen this before. He tears it up in the minors only to struggle with his hitting to the point that he can barely keep his average at the medoza line while striking out 35%+ of his at-bats, swinging at breaking balls that bounce two feet in front of home plate. Sorry that's simply not good enough. If Cave continues to hit Buxton will have to earn his way back to the majors. Given how well Cave has played he is head and shoulders above Byron Buxton at this point. That's my opinion on the matter.
  13. I want players to succeed upon callup and this is a good post. First of all I think people need to reassess their expectations of Byron Buxton. He's not Mike Trout and probably never going to be. That said if he can develop better pitch recognition ability he has a future at the major league level as a starting center fielder. I am somewhat disturbed by how many people who continue to insist that he just battle through these woes at the major league when he has shown that he can't CONSISTENTLY hit major league pitching. Marching orders for the offseason. Get stronger, stay healthy and really work on pitch recognition and bunting. Let Buxton focus on those things the entire offseason and reassess next spring. Cave has earned an extended look for the remainder of the season which Buxton has not. Just my opinion.
  14. My thoughts as well. I've not been impressed with his stuff either and he doesn't seem to have the pin point control. On a positive note Garver has made good strives this season, one of the few bright spots. I really hope the Twins give him more games to catch in the future.
  15. I was hoping to see Thorpe as well. Certainly another call for Romero would have been great considering that Gonsalves has really stunk.
  16. I think it's a major stretch to ever think he's going to be an mvp at this rate. But i would guess there are still some that hold out hope that he's going to magically become Mike trout next season. Might take tinkerbell and pixie dust to make it happen though.
  17. Both pitchers have issues. Stewart seems to be all fastball with weak secondary offerings. Gonsalves seems like more of a control pitcher with that iffy fastball and change. I like that they are giving these two a look, but i'm not optimistic at the moment.
  18. My thoughts exactly. I'm glad the Twins are FINALLY giving some of the kids a shot at showcasing their stuff but i'm not really impressed with Gonsalves. He seems to be a nibbler and strictly control type pitcher. And so far he also seems to be a two pitch pitcher which is not good either. Fastball and change.
  19. Are we watching games in alternative universes (which would be interesting to say the least)? He has had issues with pitch recognition (Sano as well) since the moment he was called up. The injury certainly hasn't helped matters but he was doing this LONG before the broken toe. Buxton routinely swings at pitches falling far out of the strike zone. It is is his Achilles heel and teams know it now. That's another reason why he needs to stay in AAA the rest of the season and not get called back up. Work on mechanics and pitch recognition and see where he's at next spring. It's obvious he's still not ready for the majors.
  20. Yeah i agree Sano has been a bit better since being called back up recently. Buxton has had issues with pitch recognition and hitting since the moment he debutted longgggg before he broke his toe.
  21. I don't think injuries made him over swing or any other such nonsense. He has terrible pitch recognition skills simple as that. He's a sucker for breaking balls just like Sano.
  22. That's fine but Jake Cave deserves the starting job the rest of the season though. Byron needs to get his head in the right place and really work on plate discipline and pitch recognition.
  23. That's fine and all but he's done this before, performed well in AAA only to play poorly upon getting promoted. Maybe this time it will be different maybe not. Sometimes prospects just don't ever make it in the majors despite all the hype, despite being a high draft pick. They are called busts. Not saying Buxton is that.....yet. I think they need to really send a message home to him and send him to Fort Myers after Rochester finishes it season with clear instructions. Get stronger physically and spend a lot of time working on your hitting and pitch recognition.
  24. Except he has repeatedly said he wants to be a starter.
