LOL! I actually had the Twins PAYING a team $2 million to take him off their hands. A jar of Lou Piniella's ball sweat would be a great start, but I would hold out for Don Zimmer's pubes.
What could the Twins get in return for Nick Blackburn in a trade? He is about $8 million for the rest of this season and 2013 combined and I don't think the 2014 club option has a buyout. So would the Twins need to send $10 million along with Blackburn to get a deal done for a backup utility man or 3rd catcher?
I was hoping that the PTBNL would be Nick Blackburn. Is there any chance a team would take him if the Twins chipped in 3/4 of his salary for this season and next year?
What a great MLB debut for Tyler Robertson. I would like to know how many RP's who made their MLB debut who have also struck out the side debut? It would be great to see him stick with the club as a starter or reliever. [h=3][/h]
Only 30? Why stop at 30? This is the dumbest thought I have heard of in a while. I can already imagine a 5 hour game with all the pitching changes there would be. Like Gardy needs more options, he doesn't have a clue what to do with the current 25. Why is Darin Mastroianni still in the majors?
Is Luke Bard going to sign? Also, how much money do the Twins have left to offer him if they decide to go over slot? I know Fanatic Jack said he was not going to sign and wanted to go back to school, but nobody else has said he won't sign.
Mauer would be a core player if his contract was $12-15 million not $23 million. There should be no such thing as an untouchable player on any team no matter the team. If someone wants to blow you away with a deal you should pull the trigger. I know you cannot trade everyone but I am puzzled with the article about the Twins searching for pitching.
I have just thought of something about all of this and it makes sense now. This article was wrote by Parker Hageman, who is either an alias for Joe Mauer or someone close to Mauer. Joe Mauer is trying to find out Trever Plouffe's secret of how to hit a HR because all those Head & Shoulders commercials washed away his knowledge on how to hit a ball OVER a wall...
I will accept that fact that Ben Revere will not scare any pitchers so they will challenge him, thus he won't walk much. What I cannot accept is his poor bunting skills he has shown so far. I want to say I can recall back to back games when he popped out trying to bunt for a hit. I know this can come back to the fact he doesn't have the power to make pitchers fear him. What I don't understand is with Rod Carew hanging around lately that the Twins haven't begged the HOF'er to try to work with Ben on his bunting. With his speed he could probably beat out alot of them for hits improving his average and setting up RBI chances for the heart of the order.
It's nice to see Ben Revere playing really good when given the chance again. But, only 4 walks on the season? I thought he was supposed to work on that when he was sent down. I know he has been a solid player hitting the ball but needs to get the OBP in the .400's.
Place him on waivers is one option. Or just send him down take him off 40 man roster along with Nishi and hope that some team wants to claim him and his contract. There is no way I would pay $5.5 million for 2013 when you can find better pitchers for that money.
FYI they could not trade Buxton if they wanted to the rules don't allow it. I am not sure the exact amount of time before a trade could be made, it might be something like 1 year. Not positive on exact length.
You have to wonder what KC did to Jose Mijares to get him to actually throw strikes and actually strike hitters out. Makes you wonder what a good pitching coach could do to fix a pitcher get out of a funk. Hopefully Twins fans will not have to wait too long...
I know this will anger most people but I want to know how long do you give Aaron Hicks to live up to his 5 tool potential before you think about converting him into a pitcher? I have no idea how good of pitcher he was in HS, but I do recall that he supposedly has an upper 90's fastball. Not a choice you want to make but if they clearly think a few years down the road that he will never make the majors as an OF when do you try to convert him?
Exactly, they should have dumped Gray and claimed Bowden. They could have gave him a shot and at worst they could have sent him through waivers again and sent him to our AAA. Way to focus Mr. Ryan.
