  1. Twins re-signed OF Clete Thomas to a minor league contract. Terry Ryan just can't stop adding "quantity" hopefully he can find some quality players to sign for depth...
  2. So do we believe that Pelfrey will be ready to start the season? I have not seen any reports so far about his availability for opening day 2013.
  3. I don't think the Twins are a small market team. They have to be in the upper half by market size. They just want to act like a small market team and make their pockets fat with cash. The Twins should have waited until January and cherry pick the talent in the clearance bin.
  4. The Twins have money right now. Hopefully Morneau would want to come back in 2014. Please don't make any excuses for the Twins not spending money on good FA this season.
  5. What are the Twins doing signing a bunch of back end of the rotation guys? One last question, what does 5.1 K per nine innings in the NL translate to in the AL when you have to have a DH not a SP in the lineup?
  6. Why not Kelly Johnson at 2B instead of Freddy Sanchez? And Brett Myers over both SP.
  7. Alex Meyer pitched already pitched in the Futures Game last season.
  8. As long as the Twins don't throw guaranteed money at him like they did with Zumaya. You can sign a guy to a minor league deal but don't keep making the same mistakes over and over again.
  9. So what is going to happen between now and 2014 when the All Star game comes to Target Field? You would hope they would add some pieces to the puzzle this winter and a few more to be a competitive team in 2014. I hope they don't just rely on all the prospects that are supposed to be ready by 2014 to rebuild. Also, how long before we start hearing the Twins beg for season ticket holders and use the All Star game tickets as ransom?
  10. I would say Pittsburgh trades for Capuano and he has a solid season for the Pirates. Just like the AJ Burnett trade of last season. Which begs to ask the question how good could this team be if the Twins traded for AJ Burnett last year and added Capuano to the rotation this season? 1. Burnett 2. Diamond 3. Worley 4. Capuano 5. Hendricks/Gibson
  11. I really wished the Twins would have signed Brett Myers over Kevin Correia. It would have given the Twins a backup for Perkins if he falters as closer next season. Terry Ryan could have offered $7M to Myers instead of wasting $10M on 2 years for Correia.
  12. You gotta love how Terry Ryan makes these great signings. 2 years for Kevin Correia is a joke to start and to top it off $5M per season is robbery. If he had to be signed it should have been a 1YR deal with a low base salary and incentives. Now you see the Phillies sign John Lannan a one-year contract worth $2.5MM with another $2.5M in bonuses. So if Kevin Correia was signed to be a #4 for the Twins who does that make the rest of the rotation? Hopefully my rotation below is what ends up happening but I highly doubt it. 1. Edwin Jackson - Try 3YR $40M or just a 1YR $13-15M 2. Scott Diamond 3. Vance Worley 4. Kevin Correia 5. Liam Hendricks
  13. I am kind of surprised so many comments and no reference to the Joel Zumaya signing last season. Everyone should recall how great the went for the Twins. More money wasted by the Twins...
  14. Ryan Pressly, Rule 5 pick from Boston not on the list? Either you forgot him or mlb.com is crazy rating him the 17th best prospect in the Twins organization. 44. Lester Oliveros Isn't he out for the season with Tommy John surgery? I would have liked to see Pat Dean and Dakota Watts a little higher also.
  15. I read that the Dodgers are looking to trade/give away Nicky Punto. I want to say his contract is $1.5M. How about 2B or backup at 3RD?
  16. I know the Twins are stuck with Kevin Correia for 2 years, but would you rather had Roberto Hernandez or Brett Myers? The sad part is we are talking about a #3 or 4 in Correia not a 5 like he should be...
  17. What they should have done was overpay for a better starter one a 1YR deal and flip him for some prospects.
  18. They could have signed him in January for $1.5M plus incentives for only 1 season not 2. If they can waste $5M/YR only him go out and throw 3YR $40M at Edwin Jackson and call it a rotation.
  19. Jason Marquis all over again!
  20. I just read that the Twins are close to signing Kevin Correia to a 2 yr deal.I hope the second yr is a club option. I feel I would rather have Brett Myers than Correia. Bad choice Mr Ryan, now go sign Edwin Jackson so we can be done with the starting rotation.
  21. I see your logic, but why spend money on free agents that won't make much difference? If no difference makers can be signed, why not use the money to try to sign some more Sanos and Keplers, and maybe save some for Appel or some other expensive draft pick? Teams only get so much money to sign international players and drafted players. So there is no saving money in the budget to sign prospects. It looks like the boys are making their father seem like a generous guy towards payroll limits. At least they will be able to pocket at least $100-130M+ thank god for taxpayers to help you out.
  22. I would do that deal in a heartbeat. It might take a little more but would be worth it.
  23. Hopefully the Twins stay away form Liriano and bring in at least 2 decent arms. Would you sign Sanchez to a 6YR $90M deal?
  24. With the Dodgers about to sign Zack Greinke to a 6 YR deal and possibly beating the deadline to sign Ryu Hyun-Jinthe Dodgers would have 8 starting pitchers on their roster. Chris Capuano, Aaron Harang and Ted Lilly would be available in a trade. Ted Lilly 2013 $12M Aaron Harang 2013 $7M, with 2014 mutual option between $7M and $8M ($2M buyout) Chris Capuano 2013 $6M, 2014 $8M mutual option ($1M buyout) I would prefer Capuano to the other 2 pitchers. If the Twins could add Anibal Sanchez to a long term contract they could have a very good rotation once again. Just think of the following rotation and tell me that they would not be on the road to being contenders. 1. Anibal Sanchez 2. Scott Diamond 3. Chris Capuano 4. Vance Worley 5. Liam Hendricks, Kyle Gibson or another FA Brett Myers? Overpay for Sanchez and get Capuano and you could be near the top of the AL Central. I know Diamond is not a #2 but with budget limitations you have to make due with what you have.
