  1. Too bad Mauer can't get back to his MVP form... Did I just call those 28 HR's tainted.
  2. The Kendrys Morales deal looks really bad when you think they could have signed Nelson Cruz for actually less money than they gave Morales. Twins sign Jason Kubel for $2M. He is gone by Tuesday if not earlier. Nelson Cruz signs with Baltimore for $8M. How many more wins would the Twins have with 21 more HR's. Kendrys Morales signs for $7.6M or $7.2M. Not sure which amount is correct from which I read from a couple of different sites. I would have rather signed Nelson Cruz and gave up the 2nd round pick(Nick Burdi) and with some changes in the rotation and bullpen the Twins would have been a first place team in the weak AL Central.
  3. Exactly! Someone else has the same reasoning for drafting a relief pitcher so high. The sad part of playing for the Twins is that he may be up by the end of 2016 if he is lucky.
  4. I would like to know if there will be any comparisons between the 3 listed pitchers that the Twins have drafted. Carlos Gutierrez was drafted 27th overall in the 2008 draft. He was supposed to be on the fast track to the Majors and be a future closer who never panned out. Billy Bullock was drafted in the 2nd round in 2009 and he did put up great numbers for the Twins but was dealt to Atlanta so the Twins could keep Scott Diamond. He is now out of baseball and just couldn't make it in Atlanta. So this brings us to Nick Burdi who the Twins just drafted who is supposed really close to being ready. I just hope the Twins don't hold him back and use the "we don't want to rush him to the majors" and waste an opportunity to get a huge arm in the bullpen soon.
  5. So does this mean that Kohl Stewart is being fast tracked to the big leagues faster since his K's are down and he must be pitching to more contact like the Twins like with their staff. ETA 2015.
  6. http://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/aaron-hicks/xFFbY_TsEeKZ5AAmVebBJg/gendersport/baseball-stats.htm I doubt this link will be allowed.
  7. I read earlier today that Aaron Hicks will quit batting left and only bat right for now. The real question might be when does he quit being an outfielder and become a pitcher? I do recall when he was drafted that they talked whether he would be drafted as a hitter or pitcher. So there still may be a chance to save his career and convert him into a pitcher.
  8. Vin Mazzaro has been DFA once again by the Pirates. Would you look to add him as a replacement for Jared Burton?
  9. So who do you think will be the Twins player to make the All-Star team this season? I would have to say either Glen Perkins or Brian Dozier as the teams representative. Sorry Joe Mauer looks like you will have some much needed rest this July...
  10. Maybe he is just doing what the Twins want him to do. Stop trying to strike hitters out and pitch to contact and let the great defense take care of the outs...
  11. Danny Santana is going to be called up for tomorrows game. The numbers were not to impressive for him so far but won't take much to beat Pedro Florimon. He is hitting just .268/.311/.381 with seven RBI in his first 24 games at Triple-A
  12. Exactly, a complete coward when it counts. How many times in close games with RISP does Mauer draw a walk and leave it up to the next hitter. And I don't just mean this season.
  13. He is not Kent Hrbek or anything close to that. What he is would be better described as Doug Mientkiewicz but not as good as glove.
  14. I think the order would be Houston, Chicago White Sox and then the Twins.
  15. Oakland just DFA'd Sam Fuld. Would he be better than Jason Mastroianni? He can also play all OF positions and has some speed.
  16. Nolasco & Suzuki cannot be traded this early since they signed as free agents. I believe it is some time in May or June when you can trade players you signed as free agents. Also, the trade makes no sense for LA anyways. They already had Nolasco and didn't bring him back and they have Drew Butera so why would they need Suzuki...
  17. YAWN...please wake me up when some real talent gets recalled. I just hope we never hear from Bartlett again this season.
  18. Steven Drew would be a waste of money. If the Twins are willing to spend some more money they would be better of with Kendrys Morales. I still would not sign either player and surrender a 2nd round pick.
  19. I have no idea how Jason Bartlett made this team. When I looked at his spring training stats and it looks even worse, 3 hits in 38 AB's is good enough to make the club? The bigger joke is him being a super utility and back up CF. I hate to start such a negative post, but how could there not be any better players on waivers than Jason Bartlett.
  20. Wouldn't the Twins be better of with Chris Parmelee over Jason Kubel? With Parmelee out of options why not give him one last shot with the club. If he fails miserably you could just recall Kubel and see if Parmelee would clear waivers and send him to Rochester or just say enough is enough and cut your losses with him. If you look at the spring training numbers neither player should make the club. To be honest I would rather have Chris Colabello than either player if they cannot find a better player who gets cut before the season starts.
  21. Toronto would claim him. Just like the last couple of seasons they claim almost everyone and try to slip them through waivers to the minors.
  22. I doubt they would be interested in Parmalee. Even if they were you could not expect much at all in return.
  23. Any money saved has no bearings on the draft. Teams only get so much money to sign draft picks. The Twins don't need to cut salary they are raking in the cash clearing at least $100M. Any salary dumps is nothing much more than greed. I would rather keep Correia in the rotation than adding Diamond or Worley to the rotation. If Alex Meyer was ready it would be a different answer.
  24. why would the Twins make Santana a 3yr offer? not sure I would do it unless they would sign either Drew or Morales. not worth giving up a 2nd round pick unless the offense also improves.
  25. Aledmys Diaz signed a 4 year deal with the St Louis Cardinals today. Sounds like it was supposed to be under $20M for the 4 years. I am kind of happy the Twins didn't make such an offer since he really doesn't sound like a game changing shortstop. Should hit for average but not much power and isn't a strong defensive shortstop, so I am not sure how he could get such a payday out of the Cards who don't seem to have a spot for him to play.
