  1. I would sign one FA RP, whichever you can get for 2 years you like the most. I would move Rodgers to the bullpen as my LOOGY and sometimes more. I would move Milone to RP, as a guy that pitchers 1-2 innings fairly often, to bridge from the 3rd time through a batting order to the shorter RPs. I would like May more as a starter, but I don't see a clear path to that......
  2. Uh, that won't even get you Cha, let alone Chapman. You did see what Boston just paid for a closer, right?
  3. Wasn't Bard hurt in college? That is my recollection of why I hated the pick.....he was already seriously injured. If not, well, I'm old, I forget things.....
  4. I'd rather keep potential RP than potential utility INF any day of the year.
  5. I like this list a lot (well, you know what I mean)..... All of those were big in 2015, and some are HUGE for 2016 and beyond. I do agree, May to the bullpen is near/in the top 5 bottom things for me also. I get where people don't agree, but it's how I feel.
  6. They've made odd decisions, imo, in the past. I really don't know what to expect.....
  7. Oh, I agree, May will be in the bullpen w/o major changes to the roster. I don't agree that he wouldn't be one of the five best starters next year. By the logic of "he wasn't great his rookie year, therefore he's not good", Gibson would not be on this roster right now. And Viola would never have made it. Sometimes guys get better, I think May is one of those guys.
  8. disagree.....180 innings vs 60 innings....not even an argument imo. Should Kershaw move to the bullpen? May is one of their 5 best pitchers, imo, and should be a starter. He won't be......
  9. Ha, I added wrong! yes, more RP than I showed....
  10. Nah, MN beat Iowa last year, my friends down there assure me no one is looking past MN. They want payback.
  11. I think this is, and I don't mean this as an insult, "old school thinking". The data is clear, the third time through a lineup isn't good for most SP, the 4th time is a disaster. We, MLB, needs to change its thinking about bullpen/starter usage. 4 starters, 2 long men (with 1-2 in AAA waiting to come up), and 2 1-2 inning guys, plus your 3 "regular" bullpen guys will be tried by a team in the next 3-5 years. And they'll win a lot of games......if they do it as a plan, not because their pitching stinks.
  12. i'm with you on all of that, not surprisingly.
  13. the Twins have shown, with Hicks anyway, that service time is not the key for them. FWIW, KLAW thinks Kepler is ready now, or close enough, that bringing him up right away is not an issue (probably, maybe).
  14. Not some of us....some of us think he'll never be good, because of the SH
  15. If Hicks succeeds or is awesome: 1. We don't know if that would happen here 2. It doesn't matter, if Murphy is good 3. I don't get why people get all up in arms over that automatically making it bad. They key is what the Twins get, not what Hicks does now.
  16. I fail to see how trading one player for another player is "giving up on" them......they exchanged one asset for another. Trading a player is NOT giving up on them. /rant
  17. ESPN killed chats.....he now does them here: http://meadowparty.com/blog/ He also has his music, book, and board game reviews there. Awesome website.
  18. Rogers could dominate lefties, correct? Meyer? He should be up and in the bullpen. That's 2 right there. Now try converting some of these number 8 starters to the bullpen, and see what they can do. Or, just keep them in AAA, and never really use them for anything......How'd Liam Hendriks look last year?
  19. Am I wrong? Was anything I said there not factual? Did they have clock issues last year that were awful? Yes. Did they claim to work on it all spring and to have fixed it? Yes. Did they then completely blunder that end of the game, terribly? Yes. I don't hate these coaches at all, I just don't get what (on the field) stuff you all see that leads you to think they'll ever be much better or worse than they are right now.
  20. Except they had clock issues last year, said they worked on it all spring, and showed they learned nothing....
  21. If you are interested, KLAW has already answered questions about the OF in general, and Kepler in specific in his chat on his site.
  22. Recruit well? Where have their classes ranked among big 10 (really, can we rename the conference already, please) teams each year? I'm happy for Claeys, good luck to him.
  23. I don't know.....but I remember people saying Greinke could never succeed in a big market.....some baseball cultures appear to be good at helping players with confidence (I remember Maddon in TB saying "why wouldn't we expect him to keep being this good" about one of his players, while at the same time Gardy was saying "we shouldn't expect him to keep this up" about one of his, for example), I just don't think we know what will happen with Hicks. I think Hicks can't hit from the left side.....but he can get on base via walk and play a good to very good CF if he can figure out routes.....but I am not convinced he is weak mentally like some here are.
  24. "likely" outcome is average catcher? Even though Sickels, FG, and others say likely role player?
