  1. On either side of the deal.......Pomeranz doesn't exactly have a long history of this success. So, when the Twins are close, I'd be on the Boston side. When rebuilding, I'd be on the other side.
  2. And they gave up a great prospect to get him. Sigh.
  3. Has TR successfully built around them? Did he sign flyers and deal them? Did he keep a closer around, when he wasn't needed, or did he deal him to help the rebuild? How good have his trades been for guys that really matter? The idea of building around those two players is a fine idea.....how is he doing in putting 25-30 other players in place? I think above you said 2017 was the goal.....so if they don't contend next year, are we ready to move on? The goal posts for those that think TR should keep his job keep moving (for these even willing to put a date on a goal, I always thought goals had to have a time component, but that's not apparently true for baseball contention).
  4. Nope, just swing baby, and hit the bleep out of those low level pitches. He's going to learn plenty that way.
  5. I know I've never seen him, and I know I'm not scout......but I think his upside is still a number 2......which makes him an awesome prospect.
  6. I do think this the best batch of arms they've had in a long, long, long time. I don't understand why Berrios is using his limited number of pitches in his arm in AAA at this point. I hope Meyer is ok. I have no idea why May has not been stretched out......but none of those three decisions temper my belief that the minors are in the best SP shaped they've been in in a long time (even if that wasn't a low, low, bar to clear, I'd still be hopeful).
  7. I feel like I'm waiting for Godot, while waiting for Berrios and Meyer and May to be in the rotation.....
  8. Is there ever a time to trade the unknown future of prospects that rarely work out, for the more certain present? Last year may not have been that year (though I'd argue they could have acquired Tulo w/o selling off the farm), but is there ever a year where you'd try to go big? Or, should they just never do that?
  9. I'm with Nick.....there are disconnects between what seems to be the plan, and how they act. I'm with chief, they dream small (Hicks for Murphy) when could dream big. Remember when they preached throwing strikes, because walks kill, and they didn't teach hitters to walk more? Just a series, imo, of a lack of a clear strategy and execution of said strategy. A disconnect between being unwilling to sign a FA RP for real money and multiple years, but wanting to trade for such a RP. This disconnect, to me, is THE issue for this team. And a lack of going all in or all out, which I view as a similar disconnect.
  10. Thanks! Love seeing Granite and Gordon mentioned a lot....no idea why, but those two names make me happy.
  11. I was not in love with the trade.......mostly because it was likely too little too late, and was another (imo) half step that cost a prospect. They know the RP is an issue...but don't fix it. Last year, that bit them in 2 ways: cost them Hu, may have cost them a playoff appearance. This year? This year it cost them nothing, I guess.
  12. At or near an all time high.....Obama has really killed industry in this country..... Glad I keep doubling down on NVIDIA.
  13. Not one in the top 50? That is very unTwins like. I think there a handful of the BA top 50 not signed right now......so that can change.
  14. A good many will go? Has any team ever traded more than 2-3 veterans at this time of year? I don't know, but I doubt it has happened very often.
  15. thanks. I hope you are correct, would love to see him succeed.
  16. There are millions of great athletes that play baseball, or basketball, or football. MOST of them aren't good professionals.......how many years of bad production would it take for you not to be optimistic about him? Not asking to be mean, I am curious why you retain this hope.
  17. Well, they weren't 7-2 when I wrote that......and I can like a post/article, while being unhappy about how the team is doing. I am much happier now that they have realized Sano is a 3B, and not a RF, for example. Glad they figured it out......
  18. I am definitely more positive, now that Sano is at 3B and Kepler is in RF. Those are both good things. I, for one, can feel happier about the team, while also wondering how sustainable it is, or whether guys should be dealt......but for this thread? Yay on all those things Nick posted about.....much more fun to "watch" the game on gamecast when they are playing well.
  19. he's 33....are they competing for real next year, when he's 34? What about the year after that, when he's 35?
