  1. I'm saying I would not count on him at all next year.....I'd assume he isn't playing next year. Should anyone assume differently at this point?
  2. You'd be surprised how many orgs just can't bring themselves to fire bad employees, but I get your point.
  3. Well, even if he was the "only" catcher, he'd maybe have 10-20 more starts over a year. Guys just don't catch every day. I think he's a Twin at some point next year (and in September of this year, but that's a look see).
  4. How is the first not "something to do different", exactly? I mean, if we were literally asked "what would you do differently", isn't the correct response to point out things actually done, that we would not do?
  5. I think Garver played 40 percent at catcher to keep him healthy. Also, he played almost every day. It isn't like he sat when he wasn't catching. To me, this says they were making sure he got at bats, so he would develop faster.
  6. If Meyer pitchers six years in the majors, I will be shocked. I don't care about the money, but Antony and Pohlad should.
  7. I hated the trade. It was a buy low opportunity, that had a very low likelihood of success. But, it kept them doing something else that had a higher probability of success. To me, it was the kind of move a team makes that keeps it bad long term.
  8. I don't know how to get out of this one. I am not in love with long term deals for catchers, but I'd seriously look at Castro in the off season and see what he costs. Probably what I'd do: 1. Get Garver up here after the AAA season ends, and start him every other dayish. 2. If he does well, I roll the dice on him and Centeno 3. If not, and by not I mean I have ANY questions at all.....I try to sign Suzuki to a 1 year deal, with Garver in AAA getting ready. 4. Sign Castro, if I can keep it under 4 years (hahahahahaha). 5. 100% assume Murphy is not a MLB player. If he surprises me, great, but he's not in my plans. 6. Hope that one of the elite catchers in the next draft drops and he races thru the system (hope is not a strategy, btw).
  9. Never again hire a manager with no managing experience. Don't sign an extension after 1 good year, when the guy is already under control. There are two from me.
  10. I am not dismissing Meyer....but he is not exactly likely to be good at this point either. The rush not to realize both pitchers are bad, but one can by cut and millions can be saved....That rush seems odd.
  11. Nope. I still think he is not tendered in the off-season, and they save millions, and free a roster spot.
  12. heh, first time I'm quoting myself.....but buried in the minor league daily update, Seth reports Garver is now in AAA....so I now expect him in MN in 3-4 weeks, and with a real shot to be in MN next spring.
  13. I think that was in one of his chats, on his personal site..... which, if you like food, games, music, books, or baseball, is a great site.
  14. Ya, BMI is the worst, and a certain company says so, yet requires a BMI test for reduced insurance costs......is that irony, or stupid?
  15. He won't agree to go. And, at this point, he's playing very well, why would they want him gone?
  16. Ya, my only hope was his "bad" year.......and this is a Polanco thread.....but ya. And no, Sale is more expensive, imo, as he's just better.
  17. Polanco and your 2nd or 3rd favorite AA pitcher for Archer? He hasn't been great this year.......
  18. While I would love to get an "ace".....It is super risky to trade a star hitter for a star pitcher. Pitchers get hurt. A Lot. If you knew Sale would be healthy, or whomever, sure, teams would do that.....but imagine how expensive pitchers would be if we could keep them healthy...
  19. whoa. So, he'll be in MN in 3-4 weeks? wow. (clearly a guess, but I think it is true). Congrats to both.
  20. I would, but I'm not the GM (and everyone should be happy about that).
