  1. so they can't sign good FAs ever, or just when they are bad?
  2. that's a fair stance. If they are really bad this year, and don't sign any FAs next year can I be disappointed?
  3. One can be disappointed in an outcome, even if that outcome makes sense. Is that hard to understand? I expected a trade. Didn't happen. Disappointed. I expected 1-2 RPs to be signed. Didn't happen so far. Disappointed. I thought they might sign a flyer SP, not sure how I feel about this not happening frankly. I hoped Molitor would be replaced, didn't expect it at all. Disappointed. Now, just because it may have been a good idea to keep Dozier, given the offers....doesn't mean one can't be disappointed that it didn't happen. I really don't know how to make that more clear.
  4. the post said FAs won't sign with bad teams.....that was what the post said. We have seen that isn't true, heck, just a few short years ago, the Cubs were bad (and now are WS champs.....), and FAs signed with them that following year. The post wasn't about if the team got better, the post clearly said FAs don't sign with bad teams. Which, given that they do every year, is clearly not true.
  5. Well, that wasn't the point I was rebutting, was it? He said they didn't do more, I asked if 4 moves were more than 1 or not. and yes, I agree that at this point, there are no FAs that thrill me, all the ones with huge upside are gone already. At this point, I doubt any FA move would help this year or beyond. Could happen, unlikely imo. I did and do endorse the one MLB FA they signed. I do think he'll help the pitching. I personally would have liked a successful trade, and one more FA signing. And no, I can't say who for sure, because anyone I name, someone will say why it isn't realistic.....which argument I'm tired of having.
  6. I'm not sure anyone is asking it to be fixed in one season, what some are asking is, why hasn't that started at all? Now, I think they will deal ESan at the break, unless he struggles, and will get pitching in return. I have my doubts Dozier is ever traded for more than JDL, or at all.....so they either need to draft and develop better, or sign FAs, because they have no other veterans to trade that are likely to return anything. Which is a bummer. Are expectations of some too high, (and I'd argue some too low)? sure. Is that not the nature of fandom, which is a completely irrational thing in the first place? Yes, yes it is. Fans are under no obligation to be patient at all.
  7. Is 4 moves not more than 1 move? I still don't see anyone ready to give up on the new FO, I see people disappointed (that word, not hateful, not this is the end of the world, disappointed) that more than 1 move wasn't made so far.
  8. Oh, well, the POS systems are definitely PoS.....and if they go there, I agree, they can make money.
  9. That wasn't the point at all, was it?
  10. As a small business owner, I'd not bet the farm on square, we get approached by competitors every week almost.....
  11. then why fire Terry, if there are no real issues?
  12. Nope, no one is suggesting making moves just to make moves. Not. One. Person.
  13. I also feel this is not necessarily good. We now know with certainty that there is a huge penalty for 3rd and 4th time thru the order. I'm not sure how often you want good, but not ELITE, pitchers doing that.
  14. did anyone ask for a radical move? Is trading Dozier radical? Is signing a RP radical? Help me understand, as I am curious what that means.
  15. I'd endorse a Blanton signing at this point, under the assumption it was 1 year only. And yes, I have looked, and yes, there are some names left, but the best names? The best names are gone.
  16. It's not like the vast majority of RPs were already signed. Which ones left have big upside?
  17. I don't, but people keep typing "they are working on the back office first", as if they can't do both. I'm NOT the one saying that....
  18. They changed 1 player so far. 1 player. 2 if you count Plouffe, I guess, but he didn't play much last year. If they can't change more than 1 player, while also working on the back office things if that is your argument, that's an issue.
  19. who here is arguing "completely turn the team around in one season"....anywhere on this entire board? Another straw man...
  20. No one disagrees with this. That does not, however, mean that standing pat is the correct answer for the rest of the organization, does it? This is a classic logical fallacy.... as for the number 1 pick, I'm confused, I thought this was about this year, not the future?
  21. Good stuff as always. I enjoy these "get to know" articles, Seth. Thanks to you and Justin.
  22. Not every democrat is anti outsourcing, where appropriate......if the rest of the world has no money and no jobs, imo, the unrest is worse. Some of us democrats used to be moderate republicans, when the world was very different....
  23. When money is paid is a pretty big deal to those that have the money......
  24. I'd bet those arb numbers are low, but maybe I overstated my position some......maybe you are all closer than I thought. From the Twins' side, if your numbers are close, why are they offering him close to market value? They are then, if your numbers are right, assuming all the risk, aren't they?
  25. Businesses don't run that way, Brock. PV of money, and all. Especially if you think inflation is coming back.....
