  1. Why? Why not put him in AAA? I expect him to be in the majors this year, when someone is hurt, or as a RP to get his feet wet int he late summer.
  2. Meh....we were told for years they were in on Cubans. Being "in on" a FA means little, imo.
  3. ESan worries me the most....not because I think he will regress for sure, but because even if they sign a SP (or trade for one), his contribution is not easily replaced at all.
  4. Sure, but that's not what people are posting....they are posting the Twins' offense is fine w/o him.....like he just wouldn't be missed all that much. That is very different than what you just typed.
  5. This isn't he NFL or NBA where the offense is very dependent on teamwork. Would you rather have a guy that might be one of the best hitters in baseball, or Escobar, hitting? That kind of post hoc analysis is how teams and fans make bad mistakes.
  6. I can't believe people think it's no big deal if Sano is out for 20-30 games. He's their 2nd or 3rd best player when he's just a shell of himself. When he's really hitting, he's their first or second best player. He has the ceiling to be one of the top players in all the game. Missing him is a big deal. As for Grossman vs Vargas. Ugh. Here is a weird idea....sign Cain (if they don't sign Darvish they have the money). Have him spell Kepler against lefties, and spell Rosario and Buxton occassionally. Have him DH when he's not in the OF. Have Sano (when he's back) DH when Cain is in the OF. It will never happen, but this team would be much better that way.
  7. Why do people keep talking about 200 innings? Almost no one pitches 200 innings anymore. 15 pitchers hit that mark last year. Darvish pitched the 24th most innings of all starters last year. That's not good enough?
  8. If you haven't looked, KLAW is a real fan. Has him #47, and thinks he's better control/use of the changeup from being a mid rotation starter.
  9. Why is the long man so important to some people? When you need a long man, you are most likely losing the game. Duffey is either a starter, or better RP. If he's just the long man, they, imo, wasted his talents.
  10. Looks like my tiny bet on litecoin is about to go from 300% up to in the red! Glad I didn't bet more. Otoh.... Even though they laid me off, UNH keeps on returning money for me. That's much more important.
  11. Where was that even discussed? I would consider trading him in a package, if high end pitching came back, but that has nothing to do with this at all.
  12. Agreed. Just read in the fangraphs chat how teams are really using this kind of data a lot to assess players. From a guy that was recently in a front office....
  13. Great article. All of the disagreements appear to be of the fake news variety. Don't like the data, so the data must be wrong, with no counter evidence offered. Nice work, Tom.
  14. As opposed to a guy with no options, virtually, and wasn't good in the minors, who is 27....
  15. I'd rather see Buesnitz than Kinley, for two reasons: 1. He was good in the majors, Kinley was barely good in the minors 2. Buesnitz has options....Kinley does not, effectively.
  16. Why would Buxton sign that? No way, imo, he signs for that little.
  17. By then you either won't be able to afford him, or he isn't worth keeping. I can't see a good argument for not doing the "cheap" extension, from the Twins' side, at all. Unless you are totally risk adverse, there does not seem to be a good reason not to sign him and buy out years.
  18. Not a fan of a one year deal. They aren't one player away. They needed pitching for the next several years. I do think you have the start of a good idea, though, that could be used for a four year deal.
  19. I read that as "all liver" and could not figure out what that meant!
  20. thanks for compiling it all in one place! They are woefully under 52% right now....
