Well, he caught Berrios all thru AAA, maybe even AA (can't recall).....I don't think this is an issue at all. Others will not agree with me.

Article: STL 7, MIN 5: Lynn with a Dud Again
Mike Sixel replied to Tom Froemming's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
How many more horrible starts would you keep him? And, anyone that wants King Felix at this point is not paying attention the last few years. Most of those teams, though not all, are NOT playoff contendors, or if they are, are so good elsewhere they can take chances. Also, do those teams have Slegers and Gonsalves in AAA right now? I might want 3-4 of those names, maybe, and not as starters right now. Some of them are inexperienced enough to have options, and can be sent down by their current teams....- 53 replies

He doesn't have to pretend to be hurt....he can just accept an assignment to AAA. It's possible he can get right, no doubt. I'd rather have him trying to get right in AAA than MN right now. I still believe this team can make the playoffs, but throwing away every fifth start isn't going to cut it.- 53 replies

He's about a million times the hitter Buxton is. Sano is the new Mauer.

I didn't say they should do anything. I merely pointed out they aren't young compared to other teams. Nothing more or less. Well, I did say their she and experience shouldn't be an excuse anymore also. They have a good mix of ages, probably. My post was, quite literally, pointing out there aren't young. Nothing more or less.

That's my point.... The Twins seem young, until you start looking at other teams. They are just like most other teams. Unless people are arguing most teams are young, but then I don't know what young means, as I consider it a comparative term

Article: STL 7, MIN 5: Lynn with a Dud Again
Mike Sixel replied to Tom Froemming's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
It's not my wish. My wish is he's great. Most players turn down trips to the minors, if they can. I think my realistic scenario is he says no, and difficult decisions need to be made. These are hard decisions, no doubt. But, I can't see a path where he is suddenly good. So, I agree, if he'd go to the minors, I'd do that. If not, I'd let him walk and take my chances on Santana and Gonsalves and Slegers being better.- 53 replies

I didn't say they were old. There is space between old and young. These aren't numbers I made up, all you have to do is read fangraphs or follow one of their former writers on Twitter. Or, run the numbers like I did. They aren't young. They are about median. The Red Sox have five regulars 26 or younger. Including a 21 year old, for example, but no one thinks of them as young. I ran the numbers. I read others that did the same. It's a fact, not an opinion. The other teams are not stagnant. Many of them called up young players since the start of last year. The Twins have not added any young position players in the last two years. That's not a criticism, it just is.

To those not wanting to add a great catcher.... Where do you see the team adding players in the next three years while Sano and Buxton are here? Where do you see them getting better? Realmuto is controlled for two years it this one. He's no rental.

Gordon is a top fifty prospect on several lists, before this year's start. He's not a mediocre prospect. And, how do you know someone is giving up a top twenty five prospect for him? Maybe they will, but maybe not. I would add Garver and another mid prospect to that offer, like Thorpe. Get a low A guy from Miami with high variance.

The Yankees and Red Sox players that age don't seem to need time to warm up. Why should the Twins get this excuse? They aren't a young team.

Every year people worry any the forty man, and every year they leave a ton of guys unprotected. And that's in the off season when teams are looking to add players. I'm not worried.

certainly possible. I hope they aren't doing that......I feel the worst for Molitor and Hughes' teammates, followed by Hughes, followed by the FO, and not at all for the owners....- 53 replies

I can't believe Hughes couldn't get in earlier, nor that he only pitched one inning. What is his role, other than "we are paying him a lot, so we ahve to keep him", exactly? Adding a minor leaguer in his place increases payroll by 500K or so a year.....- 53 replies

why not give up on him? Slegers or Gonsalves literally can't be worse than unwinnable as starters. Why not cut him and move on? He's shown no improvement all year. If not now, how many more starts like this until you would move on?- 53 replies

Maybe they should have planned better to have players with options. I would have. But they are filled with veteran pitchers without options.- 30 replies

There is no evidence that limiting innings growth prevents injuries.* If he pitches well, he should stay in the rotation. Unsure about a six man rotation. I'd probably move Lynn to the bullpen, but I wouldn't disagree with a six man rotation if they go that way. *The verducci effect is bunk. And no, we aren't taking about going from ten innings to two hundred.

I agree, but if you can't get on base, it has less value to be good once you do. There is still a ton of hope, he's not exactly old. But here's just not a good enough hitter so far, alas. Great defender and base runner.... Not even a meh hitter yet.
