    What he does the rest of the year is pretty irrelevant to his future. Front offices have made up their mind, one way or the other, at this point. I'd sign him. I'd roll that die. If they do deal him, they better get more than Berrios brought back.

    It looks pretty bleak right now. If Maeda is out, they have zero, zero, experienced pitchers under contract. I didn't know that was even possible. Ober and no one else is a lock right now? They really need to acquire two good SP in the off season. Then hope on Ober and um, hmmmmm. I got no idea how this works at this point.

    There are multiple threads and comments (some repeated over and over and over and over and over......) about multiple fringe players and their "success" outside of MN......Like, they'd have to cut about 10 players from the current roster to hold them all (imagine doing that at the start of the year)...... I have no issue with reasoned discussions about failures, but this is a ridiculous example, imo. As are many of the second guesses here. I get it, the season has sucked. But the anger and mean comments (not in this OP, btw) and repetition is tedious at best (and a massive turn off from joining in for many former long time posters).

    Fewer than 5 is actually pretty hard.....all but 5 teams are averaging more than 4 per game, and two are a rounding error from there.....5 seems to be the magic number, which is unreal, really.

    Do we really think the FO thinks differently? Those two were 8/9/10 on the depth chart to start the year......(actually, I think you are saying this, just making sure). The year has gone as badly as possible with SP this year, between injuries (Pineda, Maeda, Dobnak, Winder), and trades (Berrios) and ineffectiveness (Happ, Shoemaker) that this is what is left. As for leaving him in, this is part of learning.... As for Kepler and Rooker hitting near the top (not your point).....I'm guessing they are trying to give them every AB possible, to see if they can get out of their funks. Nothing more or less than that.

    I think Martin is the starting LF by June/July of next year. CF is Buxton is dealt.

    Is there any evidence this is true? That it is more valuable than playing in the majors and getting your feet wet? I really doubt it. I have no idea how Moran isn't up already. Ryan should be up and starting, given the injuries, at this point. No need to call up Martin. No idea where Miranda plays.

    I am betting Martin is your LF at some point next year, if Buxton is retained. Unless he can play SS, that is.

    You just agreed with me. Miranda won't be up, or they need to trade Sano if everyone is healthy. I just don't see anyway to have Polanco and Arraez and Miranda on the same team. Also, Garver will catch maybe 80ish games.....

    I wasn't talking about dealing Miranda, but Donaldson. I see that wasn't clear.

    I think I'd trade Donaldson, but it wasn't even 12 months ago no GM thought Miranda was worth claiming.....but I don't have HIGH hopes for next year, so I would deal him most likely. Also, Arraez. That said, Lewis could end up at 3rd if he's not a SS (or CF if Buxton is gone).

    Him being bad for 25 games shows nothing to any front office. It is a tiny sample size. People either believe in him or not at this point.

    Being a fair weather fan is 100% more rational.... The Mauer contract was fair, no doubt. And it didn't hinder the team.....once Ryan was gone they spent way more money.....

    "stop playing guys out of position" and "put Polanco at SS" don't really work well together as thoughts..... IMO, they'll need to trade one of Miranda or Arraez or Donaldson.....there isn't room for all three of them on the roster next year, not with AK and Sano on the roster, and Garver at C/DH. Not unless you move AK back to the OF......and even then....

    Agreed. But I'd protect Colina I think also.
