  1. It was not a mistake to sign JD to "too much money" before....they were contending and signed a legit big time great player. It isn't their fault the pandemic happened. He was actually healthy most of the last few years, if slow. Fans constantly want them to spend money...they did, when they should have. At a position they needed help at.
  2. There were. If the plan was to acquire expensive pitchers, they could have done that. If that wasn't the plan, why is it now the plan?
  3. Why not just sign a pitcher and not deal prospects for one, if he's pricy? If he's not pricy, you didn't need to free up money. People really think they'll sign Story? To like a seven year deal? I'll be shocked.
  4. Why trade for Gray if you aren't trying to compete this year? If you are, where can they spend money at this point?
  5. I think so. But there are random AAAA catchers out there, I think.
  6. What makes you think there is competition? If Urshela is here, he's the starter.
  7. You think the two they got back are better than the two they gave up? I think Rortdvert is also in the deal.
  8. Everyone on this board is a better defensive catcher than Sanchez. And, they have no shortstop again. And urshela? I have no idea what they are doing. They are worse at catcher and still have no shortstop.
  9. In not sure what this means? I said not doing anything in free agency indicated to me they weren't going for it this year. That they were playing for the future. Lots of other here have said the same thing. No one said they saved money for future years.
  10. Agreed . If they are serious about this year, they need more.
  11. This makes the trade yesterday make more sense. Apparently they are trying to win? The Bundy signing makes less and less sense though.
  12. This. They spent free agency playing for the future.... Then the last two days are all about the present. Baffling.
  13. Yes, he is, if you look at the totality of how he hits, not just one number, and compare him to other players. That said, I think he might hit for slightly more power this year, and it won't be a completely empty 271.
  14. It's all about the prospect. If he's not good, the trade makes little sense. I agree. Not a huge fan of him already being on the forty man....
  15. I'm confused about trading a real asset for short term help, on a team that refuses to have pitching. What's the point, other than losing an asset and taking up two forty man spots? That's backward.
