    From Fangraphs yesterday: Culpepper is among the most entertaining defenders in the minors. He’s bold and creative, and has remarkable body control. He’ll pirouette and fire with plus arm strength, and his emphatic and precise tagging influences 50/50 calls at the bases. Culpepper has blown through his pre-draft evaluation on defense (he was evaluated on the SS/3B fringe in college) and now looks like a future impact defender at short.

    agreed, 100%. But I'm still skeptical.

    I'm guessing he's thrown too many pitches also, given how college coaches work. Also, I can't see them moving a pitcher up this year/next. They just don't operate that way.

    GG is top of the list for me. Sure, Sabato is good this year also. I think Culpeper playing good SS defense is a breakout, given the questions about that when drafted. And Diaw is giving us all hope at catcher.

    Catcher era isn't real. That's been shown in studies over and over. But go look at last year if you want....

    Pitchers don't publicly say bad things. He's worse than awful on offense, and now bad at defense. This fear of replacing a very bad player is amazing to me.

    Every player is streaky. If you think a guy that is one of the top twenty hitters in baseball over a season isn't playable, I have no idea what you want.

    Wallner is an elite hitter. He maybe isn't fielding well, but he's a big time hitter. Top 20 among all MLB players last year in both obp and slg. You want to bench him?
