  1. Lawrence on the last Jags drive reminded me of a Tony Romo drive, right down to the last play. (botched field goal hold in that playoff game)
  2. people on the internet throw around hyperboles, but that might be one of the stupidest losses in the NFL, ever.
  3. Thats the first version I saw. What a messed up world we live in.
  4. Try as I might, I just can’t hate the Dodgers as much as I know I should. I like Betts (pro Bowler!), Freeman and Ohtani. How can you not admire Ohtani. And I cheered for them to beat the Yankees last year and they did not disappoint. I will do better!
  5. I like having a big meanie to root against … although I don’t really dislike the Dodgers as much as I should.
  6. As real as a donut— (Brad Pitt in a great final scene in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood - a flick that rewrites the Manson murders)
  7. Yeah I just read about that and am wondering too. KOC may not have had a good angle. And it stayed end over end. Some kicks do fly in a fade, but not like that sharp. Someone somewhere should have noticed and pulled the alarms.
  8. Update: he just pitched the 7th, and threw 7 straight changeups to retire the first two hitters. Then threw change, change, and fastball to strike out the last guy. I dunno, man….
  9. The burning question is whether Detroit’s manager will bring in the guy who only throws change ups in a tight game.
  10. I would guess the Yankees come back and win that series. Toronto only has Bieber left as a pitcher and then will have to go back to Gausman for game 4.. Toronto has Scherzer but he has become a batting practice pitcher at this point.
  11. My gut feeling for how this postseason would turn out is approaching zero, lol. Good thing I am not a degenerate gambler (gambling problems? Call 1-800……)
  12. You may be right. I don’t know. I am skeptical and I like to look at very specific situations. For example, stolen bases. The view from 30,000 feet is that you need a SB rate to be like 75-80% successful to be worth doing. But not all caught stealings are the same. There are the CS that run you out of innings, and there are the CS that come with 2 out and 2 strikes. Sac bunts are considered awful, until you need one in the late innings and the situation calls for it. Wallner may have a good ISO but how many of his dingers were useless late inning solo shots when the game was not on the balance?
  13. I do miss the 2023-2024 years, when someone finally told Rocco about the platoon split thing, and he would start his pinch hitting shenanigans early in the game, because sometimes the game is won in the 4th or 5th inning. dontchaknow 🙂
  14. Detroit is up 1-0 in the 3rd, but just had a chance for a big inning against Cleveland, a team that struggles to score runs. Feels like a “let ‘em off the hook” moment.
  15. Hey! We got three extra games from this round tomorrow! Better than last year and having only one.
  16. I hate it. I think it’s more of a StatCast era development & front office thing—all front offices, not just ours. Swing your swing, maximize your exit velo. Strikeouts are ok. Yada yada yada. Ok rant over. 🙃
  17. He's actually been a good starter. But, yeah.
  18. I just checked tomorrow's starting pitcher for the Reds, and,.. does the name Zack Littell ring a bell lol
  19. Jhonkensy Noel starts at first base for Cleveland today haha. This guy makes Eddie Julien look like a glove wizard and makes Joey Gallo look like a contact hitter. But Vogt wanted the platoon advantage. Sometime I just... Skubal was back to being brilliant after a couple of meltdowns late in the regular season. Crochet was brilliant. The Yankees load the bases with no outs in the bottom of the ninth and don't score, and Cleveland gets Ramirez to third base with no outs in the bottom of the ninth, and can't score him. File under: It's not just the Twins
  20. No predictions this year for me. Go underdogs! The brackets are interesting this year — the three AL East teams competing against Detroit///Cleveland and Seattle for the ALCS.
  21. That would be a massive red flag. Not that we need any additional red flags to form a judgment on this management and ownership group.
  22. It is nice to see Bradley, Abel, and Woods Richardson finish on high notes. However, there is a large enough body of work on them at this point. None of them will attain the consistent level of performance of Lopez or Ryan. Bradley is hittable but reliable as a 5th starter in the mold of Kyle Gibson. Abel has a minor league career rate of 5 walks per 9 innings, too high to play well at this level. SWR has not shown consistency or length, but is still early enough in his career to visualize his last start as a springboard for the future. I think SWR or Matthews give us the best chance of a mid rotation starter in the mold of Ober in the next year or two. Same with Austin Martin and a few others mentioned. We know these players by now. The Twins should not over analyze good performances in the statistically noisy final week. An outfield of Buxton, Roden, Larnach, Wallner and Martin is shaky, but maybe Walker Jenkins can slot in there next year and impress. Larnach, once described by this front office as a leader and positive influence, seems like the odd man out. At this point maybe Lee’s best move is to third base when Culpepper is ready to be called up to play short. And then the manager and coaches. But take all that with a grain of salt. It seems like a bunch of us diehards play the “who plays & where” game all year, every year, discussing the team, trying to analyze the best possible team in a moment of time. And then this front office always surprises us with something different. Anyway, I am looking forward to seeing the Twin Daily owners and writers and their deep dives into the state of the team soon.
  23. I owe you an apology and a correction. Yes, Royce Lewis is much more popular among the general fan base than he is inside this unventilated little corner of the Internet. So, sorry about that. My irrational love for players like Lewis happens when I see myself in them. Not so much the athleticism but the personal side, Royce being a generally nice guy, who runs his mouth sometimes, over explains, apologizes too much, and has a tendency to ask questions (why are you moving me to second base in the middle of a pennant race?) instead of just following orders. That feels like Royce to me to a T. Plus, all that charisma. I know you don’t think well of Lewis’s ability to play shortstop. You may be right, but problem is, the fans never got to see it happen. Twins scouting and development had Royce as a shortstop. Twins leadership closed the door on Royce at shortstop with the second Correa signing in January 2023. Maybe if fans had seen Royce struggle at short, or if Royce hadn’t hit those big home runs in the 2023 postseason, he wouldn’t be as popular here. Oh well.
  24. I am guessing he thought he would go off and execute all those trades, and then come back to a hero’s welcome. He would do all the usual interviews, the local media would be friendly as usual, and everyone would tell him how great he did. Instead, it was the opposite. And it was a shock. So he went silent for a while. Just a guess.
