  1. People had that expectation for Brooks Lee. He had posted a good batting line at AAA. How did that work out?
  2. If they are willing to pay free agent retail prices for Caratini they should be willing to extend Jeffers’ contract.
  3. Players usually don’t get better on defense in their mid to late 20s. Lee doesn’t have the physical tools to become a plus defensive SS. He is a slow runner and his throwing arm is below average. If he is able to add an extra step on defense and an extra 10 mph on his throws in one offseason you should suspect PED use.
  4. He can’t be counted on to contribute to a winning team. There’s a less than 10% chance he improves to a level that would make him an above average major leaguer. If you are counting on everyone making their 90th percentile projection you will be disappointed. We should be thrilled if he’s better than Brooks Lee by August.
  5. If they're trying to build toward the future then there is no reason to have aging AAAA nobodies like Gasper, Fitzgerald, Kreidler, Keirsey, Outman and McCusker on the roster. Go get younger players who might have a chance of being part of a future good team instead. I'm reminded of the line in Major League - "some of these guys never had a prime".
  6. The Twins might have the least SS depth in the major leagues. Brooks Lee is one of the worst fielding SS in baseball. His backup is a 32-year-old who never made it. Culpepper played a half-season in Double-A last season and shouldn't be counted on in 2026 at all. They have almost nothing at SS.
  7. They need high upside talent. There are 5-6 spots in the bullpen open right now. They can certainly afford to carry a pitcher this season. They have one of the highest picks in the Rule 5 draft and should definitely take somebody.
  8. I don't think teams are going to be looking for Fedko in the Rule 5 draft. The upside has to be high enough to make it worth carrying a non-contributor on the roster for a whole season. There are several minor league free agents with stats as good as Fedko and they're a lot more convenient to acquire.
  9. There are potentially way too many outfielders on the 40-man roster. Buxton, Larnach, Wallner, Martin, Roden, Outman, Keirsey, McCusker, Rodriguez, Gonzalez, Jenkins, Mendez, Rosario, Fedko plus Kreidler and Clemens who can play outfield. That's 14-16 outfielders on the 40-man. Jenkins won't be on the roster in the offseason but he's pretty certain to be on it sometime in 2026. They need to pick their best 9 from that group. I think that's Buxton, Wallner, Martin, Roden, Rodriguez, Gonzalez, Jenkins, Mendez and Rosario.
  10. Brooks Lee has better defensive tools than Eeles at SS. I wouldn’t play Eeles at SS for more than a handful of innings in an emergency. Someone has to be the backup SS. They also have room for someone in AAA. They should be scouting film on the younger minor league free agents.
  11. It looks like he stuck with the Washington Nationals for the full season.
  12. Minor league free agent SS OPS in AAA last season and age Yordys Valdes 526 23 Luis Verdugo 494 24 Dalvy Rosario 508 24 Eddys Leonard 739 24 Liover Peguero 688 24 Raynel Delgado 741 25 Jonathan Ornelas 574 25 Livan Soto 571 26 (getting attention on other message boards) Jordan Groshans 660 26 Chad Stevens 855 26 Rodolfo Castro 745 26 Andrew Navigato 649 27 Diego Castillo 737 27 Connor Kaiser 751 28 Will Holland 637 28 Riley Unroe 806 29 Alan Trejo 789 29 Jackson Cluff 771 29 Andrew Velazquez 649 30 Dixon Machado 646 33 Jack Lopez 623 32 I bolded the most interesting guys. Anyone know anything about Chad Stevens? He looks like he deserves a shot.
  13. There is evidence that careers are getting shorter. Players come up later and retire earlier. All signs that competition has never been higher. We are overdue for expansion.
  14. I really wish Brooks Lee could field as well as Lindor. He fields a lot more like Bichette.
  15. How would he compare to Walls of Tampa Bay? If he could be Walls for the league minimum I'd take him.
  16. Cool. This has been a gap since Baseball Think Factory died.
  17. IKF is roughly 2-3 WAR better than Fitzgerald. He's also a year YOUNGER than Fitzgerald. Someone might give them a 40 FV prospect in July for IKF but nobody will give them anything for Fitzgerald. I'd be okay if they were going to "go with youth" but it's more likely they go with old AAAA washouts like Gasper, Kreidler, Keirsey, Fitzgerald and Outman.
  18. He is Rule 5 eligible and won't be protected by the Dodgers. You won't need to trade for him. They could get him in the 2nd round of the Rule 5 draft. That might be the answer - find some other team's overlooked minor league SS and use them instead of a 32-year-old Ryan Fitzgerald.
  19. That would be a good way to win the “most profitable franchise” award
  20. There are several free agent 1B options who hit at least as well as Larnach and will cost about as much as Larnach. Royce Lewis needs to play 3B - they don’t have a better option defensively at third.
  21. February 1, unless it’s at catcher. That market dries up in December.
