  1. Joe Mauer is Ted Simmons but with a better glove. Ted Simmons should be in the Hall.
  2. The Twins ruin prospects two ways They promote them too slowly and the player stagnates OR they rush them too quickly and the player is overwhelmed. No matter how the Twins promote prospects they are always clearly wrong in hindsight.
  3. Highest upside arm in the system could be Lewis Thorpe. People are excited about Romero, but Thorpe was better before surgery than Fernando.
  4. Look at Tommy Milone's results in AAA this year. If you're lefthanded and know how to pitch you can get away with mediocre stuff.
  5. A lefty who is good out of the stretch would make an excellent reliever even if he isn't great in the rotation.
  6. Yes, you have to be careful getting too excited about stats in Elizabethton. Look at Pat Dean's 2010 line for example.
  7. Molitor's seat just got a lot hotter
  8. I wonder the reason for the move. I don't think they lack confidence that Terry Ryan can make a decent deadline trade. I think they lack confidence that he will make enough trades (fire sale).
  9. I think the more relevant question for Blankenhorn is whether he can handle 2B. There were questions whether he could stick at 3B. At 1B or LF he will have to really hit to impress.
  10. I will be surprised if Walker has a better career than Mike Restovich.
  11. At some point it will be too late to trade Santana. His effectiveness will decline with age. This is similar to Josh Willingham. Trade him now before he's untradeable. This is a seller's market and the Twins have an asset that multiple teams want.
  12. A 50-100 prospect who pitches plus some sweetener like a decent international bonus slot or an A-ball reliever with a live fastball would probably get me to bite. I think the Twins will have the luxury of multiple bidders driving up the price on Ervin Santana. They could do very well.
  13. Granite would not get selected. If selected he would likely be returned.
  14. Adds: Mitch Garver, Stuart Turner, Daniel Palka, Fernando Romero, Lewis Thorpe, Felix Jorge Possible: Jason Wheeler, Zack Jones
  15. I hope the Twins keep Nunez to mentor Sano and Polanco. I doubt they get much in return for trading him since he will be a pending free agent next season.
  16. JT Chargois looks good but he wouldn't have been the #15 pick in this year's draft.
  17. Vielma needs to play multiple positions. His potential future in MLB is as a glove-first futility infielder.
  18. My guess would be Palka has trouble with the curve but can hit a fastball if he knows it is coming.
  19. Plouffe, Dozier, Santana and Park or Arcia. These are the only guys who will bring back the pieces they need (catcher, more pitching depth) and there are replacements for all of them on the roster.
  20. "Anthony McIver earned his first save, a two inning version" Resourceful guy, that McIver.....
  21. Even if you plan on using the player as a reliever it makes sense to start them to get them innings until AA
