    Most teams break down in any one phase of the game -- offense, defense, pitching -- for an inning or two and recover. The Twins fail in all three phases so often that they are not competitive. The record for fewest wins in a season is 40 by the 1962 Mets. Unless something miraculous happens, I believe this team has a chance to break that handily.

    Favorite baseball hed was from the 1960s when Gary Peters pitched for the White Sox. He was injured and missed a turn... "Sox win with Peters out" Not one I would have done. I did win the AP best headline award in 1989 at the Idaho Statesman. Kinda like being the tallest building in Wichita -- big deal.
