  1. 1.) Where are you from? Grew up all over -- born in Moline, Ill., then raised in several small towns in Nebraska, as well as stints in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Flint, Mich. Went to college in Ohio, then worked in newspapers in Oregon, Idaho, and South Dakota. Got married to a beautiful and smart gal in Huron, S.D., and she and I sell clothes in the store she started 30 years ago. Living the dream. 2.) Age Range? Exactly between 32 and 92. 3.) What brought you to Twins Daily? Can't recall, but am always glad I stumbled onto it. 4.) Highest level of baseball/softball played? Pony league, where I batted .182 my last season. Later umpired baseball and softball for 15 years. 5.) Favorite Twins Player, and favorite underappreciated Twins player, and if you want, favorite current Twins player? All-time fave: Tony Oliva. Underappreciated fave: Bob Allison. Current favor: Escobar. 6.) Favorite non-Twins Daily site/authors? N/A 7.) Favorite Twitter follows? Not a twit. 8.) Other interests outside of baseball. Running, reading. 9.) Favorite part of Twins Daily... Game threads never disappoint. 10.) Tell us what we can do better. You're already at the top of your game. Don't ever change. 11.) Have you been to any of the Twins Daily "events?” Would like to, but am tied down at the shop, so... some day.
  2. With Cleveland losing today, and assuming a Twins win, the Minnesota baseball club is within 9.5 games of first. As Aggies7 noted in other circumstances, "It's happening!"
  3. Matt Belisle has become an out machine. Only one run allowed in last five appearances.
  4. Happy for the team today. Everyone's hit except ER, and he'll get his chance. Laughers are called that for a reason. EDIT: Happy for the J.O.E., too.
  5. What's the reason Valencia's played on eight teams -- the O's twice -- in nine seasons? Attitude?
  6. The two former Rays pitchers have some down stats. Odorizzi's last win was two months ago exactly, but he pitched well his last two outings. He just had no bat support. As for Cash, his ERA is over 8 for day games and over 6 when away. Also, opponents are batting over .300 average against him. If we don't take control of this early and sweep, I may have to give up these games. And cocaine.
  7. Enjoying all the good commentary. My 2 cents.... This team has shown remarkable resilience, but also an equally remarkable ability to be just good enough to lose. All the walk-off and one-run defeats and almost comebacks take a toll. Still, a nice run of solid games leading up to the break may be just the ticket to heating up the batting and pitching stats and chalking up Ws more often than not.
  8. "I can't believe I didn't have Bobby Wilson on my fantasy team." Said no one ever. Still, nice knocks to go along with fielding from the Caveman and Mr. Polanco. (That game-ending pick in the hole was a thing of beauty.)
  9. I haven't had the full experience in ... a long while.
  10. Yep. Be a shame to lose this after such a nice comeback.
  11. Belisle. He's smart enough, he's good enough, and doggone it, people like him.
  12. Bobby Wilson with two hits and three RBIs in one game is a sign of the Apocalypse for sure.
  13. Top five in the order are 1-12 today. Bottom four are 4-8 and have accounted for all the Twins runs. Baseball's a funny game.
  14. Come on, Eddie. Cooperstown's on the phone.
  15. Uh, why no pinch hit for Wilson? EDIT: Props to the MOY.
  16. At work. Just checked the score. Looks like Gibby's downward plane augered in.
  17. Whew! I was worried there. Just when I was beginning to think the Twins were a terrible team, the Orioles came to town and showed us what terrible really means.
  18. Today is no surprise, I guess. Lynn's 6-6 career against the Cubs, but his last win was five years ago. He's 0-3 and ERA way over 5 in the past three seasons.
  19. A K and DP oughta be good right now. EDIT: Nah. But it would be a hoot if the bats come alive and we win this thing. In extras, even.
