  1. The point is, it's important to be open minded and willing to change.
  2. I think now that they presumably will have somebody savvy pulling the trigger, they shop him and try and make some meaningful improvements on the other side of the ball. They don't have anybody else that is going to to do that for them this offseason. I don't even think shopping Buxton or Sano (which would be crazy) would get them back what a current 7 win player will. If the younger guys don't take some steps forward next year they aren't going to be any good again anyway, with or without Dozier. Edit: of course as soon as I finish writing this he hits #42. Gonna be real sad to see him go, don't get me wrong.
  3. Whelp, him and TR probably wouldn't get along, but who cares! That guy don't work there no more.
  4. Maybe it would be easier to ask what's going right?
  5. Jobu
  6. Guy made somewhere in the neighborhood of 8 million bucks, all while playing baseball his entire adult life, and by all accounts has a lovely family. That ain't Buffett money but you can still do pretty well in Omaha on that. Speaking of Warren Buffett- a man who would not have given Brian Duensing 8 million bucks, because you do not make Warren Buffett money by giving people like Brian Duensing 8 million bucks.
  7. I am in no way a Terry Ryan apologist, but there was zero market for third basemen this off season. David Freese got a 1 yr 3MM deal from the Bucs as a free agent and Plouffe is a worse player making more than double that. He wouldn't have gotten anything for him then, but might get a little more than nothing now that a couple teams have developed a need. He played it as good as he could, which wasn't too good.
  8. To be fair, that Rochester rotation was really looking thin lately.
  9. https://twitter.com/AaronGleeman/status/725012347119538177 Aaron Gleeman ‏@AaronGleeman 2m2 minutes ago Jose Berrios wrote on Facebook that he's been called up by the Twins to debut tomorrow. Their top pitching prospect since Matt Garza in '06.
  10. The tone of this came off as harsher as I intended, but I feel like the point stands.
  11. I assume he'll be holed up in a bunker on his ranch prepping for the end.
  12. I was more getting at the Duck Dynasty obsession, weird-a** beard that probably creeped everybody out, and his desire to have his child follow around jock strap-clad grown men all day shaving things into his head instead of maybe having him go to school so he doesn't grow up with the same backwards worldview that his father has. But yes, his love for his son is apparent and heartwarming.
  13. Puff piece, sure, but he still sounds like a crazy person.
  14. There was always a decent chance Duffey was going to be a flash in the pan. Twins' rotations have been absolutely plagued by pretenders that have limited success and can't make any adjustments when the league catches up (Deduno, Pino.). He doesn't have any sort of track record to make you think it isn't the case here too. Not saying I have any faith in Rocky Nabisco but Duffey has a long way to go before people should be assuming he's going to resemble a major league quality starter for any extended period of time.
  15. Chargois has looked really polished and clearly has back end reliever type stuff. Imagine him coming in when Casey Fien blows his next 3 run lead. Burdi should have a spot based on pure entertainment value alone (does anybody still feel like they get entertained by the twins or are we all just self flagellating ourselves with this team??) They have the pieces for an exciting bullpen at the very least, let alone the sorry state of the bench they're going to break camp with I'm sure.
  16. It's not a huge deal. Just the same thing they do every year being too conservative with the younger guys that annoys me at the beginning of every season. I'd take Kepler off the bench over Arcia or Santana certainly, and I don't even know what business Nunez has on the roster at all. I think they could have made reasonable improvements to the bullpen by experimenting a bit instead of say, going with the devils they do know in Fien, Pressly, or of course Nolasco like you mentioned. They may well be delaying the clock on Berrios but I think we can agree he'd have a good chance at being the class of that rotation right now if given the chance and I hope we all get to see him up as soon as possible. Other than that, it's fine and that offense even looks a little bit competitive to me!
  17. I agree this is probably what they do. Stinks it isn't the best roster they could be going with.
  18. Sounds about right, actually.
  19. He got a $6.7 million signing bonus.
  20. When you remove the innings he would have pitched FOR the Twins, and combine that with the innings he will now pitch AGAINST the Twins.... I'd say that really adds up to something special.
  21. Hey, why did I get deleted? Here I am trying to click on all the likes I got and.......no post!
  22. Ain't no magic on this team.
  23. And to think the Pirates almost had him, to go with all the other Twins who go there and get great.
  24. From Kiley McDaniel's prospect chat today: Comment From Lumpy Jose berrios wasn’t called up?!!! Are the twins even trying? Kiley McDaniel: Berrios was the most impressive pitching prospect I watched this year and Terry Ryan was two rows in front of me at that outing….so he knows what he has. Maybe he is so impressed he wants to control the service time and/or have leverage for an extension. Let’s be positive!
