  1. so is Kluber, someone needs to remind Twins starters they too can pitch more than 5 innings...
  2. Infielders in the outfield... Better than Hunter, but for Chitown... ISH
  3. 1) Hermann played one game at the bigs as a catcher last year 2) Hermann was listed as an outfielder by the Twins until a couple weeks ago 3) the Twins obviously need a fifth outfielder more than a second utility infielder as evidenced by both Eduardos playing the outfield already, and both sucking badly at it. 4) Pinto is a far better hitter than Nunez 5) Hermann is a far better outfielder than either Eduardo and similar hitter to Nunez, but admittedly slower. Seems pretty obvious to me, DFA Nunez, move Hermann back to the OF, bring up Pinto, and when Rosario/Hicks/Buxton is ready to come up, send Hermann back to AAA. He does have an option left, that's his primary value.
  4. im not that clever, it was actually a question, not a joke
  5. how did Robinson get a reputation for being a good fielder?
  6. Did Dick just say that Cal Ripken hit his 3000th hit in this stadium?
  7. true enough, he's probably the best option for the Twins until Buxton is ready, he's just not good enough to be an every day big leaguer. Maybe he could've been had he not been the sacrificial lamb. Now? Ick. I hope he proves me wrong, but man, just lost in the bigs
  8. absolutely damning of the whole front office.... If Hunter was "just" a marketing ploy, I'd give TR more credit than not knowing Hunter was well past done 2 years ago or more. As far as Molitor goes, of course the team looks unprepared, it's a whole new coaching staff and a rookie manager who's never managed a day in his life, it's not his fault any more than it is Hunter's. Offer me 10 million (or 1 million) to look like a fool, I'd put on the big floppy shoes and clown nose too. I don't think Hunter or Moli wants to be a clown, but for Hunter the money is very persuasive, and Moli, you can't help but listen when everyone says you're a baseball genius.
  9. i did (raises hand). I think Hicks needs some more gestation time. It's only been a week. dont commit to a third mistake. Acquire a cf via trade
  10. its not worse than all of us thought. Some of us have been banging this drum for years. I think Arcia getting moved to left field has had a negative impact on his fielding and hitting, and Hunter is every bit as bad as expected too
  11. i was at that game too, but it wasn't my first. I was there with a school group. For some reason we stayed the whole game. When my parents picked me up at the school, they were pissed off. Even if I had thought of calling home, I had spent all of my money on junk food and a hat in the 4th inning. My first was in 1986, but I was 6 years old and don't remember many details, just reveling in proximity to Kirby Pucket and Kent Hrbek from the nosebleed seats in Right Field Metrodome and being sad that the hometown 9 got spanked by Cleveland.
  12. prospects are just that, they aren't big leaguers until they play and prove it.
  13. I don't think the CF situation paves the way for Buxton, anymore than I think Hunter paves the way for Rosario. I think 3/3 of the outfield being terrible is just low priority. The hope is Arcia figures it out, and Hunter/Schafer/Robinson can patch it together for a season. Tackle it next year. Maybe Buxton and/or Rosario, maybe a new batch of afterthoughts. Agree wholeheartedly on the pitching, the intention and strategy was ok, sign reliable mid rotation guys and hope that by the end of the contract they are still viable back rotation guys. Not panning out so far, but that's free agency. The bad part about Santana is your losing 25%-100% of his viable pitching window. With no roids, does he lose his durability?
  14. but now is not the time to add Buxton. While the team desperately needs him, he's not ready. Maybe September... Sano on the other hand seems like he's close, if TR can swing a trade for Plouffe, he has his 3rd baseman. I'm with you on Eric Fryer, lots of faith in Hermann, and it seems like Pinto isn't trusted behind the plate. If Zooks gets hurt or Hermann hermits, my fear is TR wouldn't part with a terrible bullpen/BP pitcher but remove Beans...
  15. baseball is a business. The Twins are an entrepreneurial enterprise. Winning games will help the team make more money, but it is a means to an end.
  16. dang! Well predicted for Milone, he pitched very well today
  17. I don't want to die, and I don't care about any of the other MN teams, so Nolasco it is
