  1. Dozier Plouffe and Hunter were the reasons this team had any offense at all. It's getting better players than the scrubs around them that needs to happen.
  2. putting Suzuki on the bench would absolutely help win games. Having a bench bat would absolutely help win games. Having a full staff of competent relievers would absolutely help win games. Every player on the 25 man roster must contribute fairly regularly.
  3. Suzuki is as bad with the bat, and neither Suzuki or Hermann catch nearly as well as Butera. I was roundly approving when they let Butera go. Now...
  4. I think relying heavily on reclamation project pitchers points to inability to develop quality pitchers. That's a pretty big problem, and it is exasperated by continuing to salvage those washed up husks of MLB pitchers because the team would spend its time on low upside development rather than high upside development through the farm system.
  5. there are devoted cubs fans and average cubs fans. The average Cubs fan can't hold a candle to a TDer.
  6. im certain, you've supported this team and community over the last 4 seasons, it takes a level of crazy to be that devoted
  7. I wonder how far Torii would go in removing clothes?t
  8. they can be if you have the right manufacturing and shipping. If you don't manage Cost Of Goods Sold (Net margin vs Gross) it eats you alive. A team will pay a lot at invoice, but invest very little effort, leaving you the provider to deliver all of the dirty work. It's generally a delivered price, so they aren't paying for a fancy mask, they are paying for a protection system delivered and installed (on the players) at all of their doorsteps.
  9. agreed, the best part about Dick/Bert is the drinking game. I really like Provus and would like Provus and Smalley as the TV broadcast team.
  10. interesting... Engineer I am not, but when you get to implementation, I can help with the margin and logistics part
  11. What would Bert Blyleven surgery look like? Brain-ectomy
  12. this goes back to high school and there's no guarantee that my coach knew what he was talking about, but my recollection was, on hard grounders squat down squarely and put your glove in the 5 hole so if you get an odd hop that you can't react to, it'll hit your chest and you have a shot at recovering. He did that, but failed to wrap his glove around it. The outcome should've been better, but he had the right idea
  13. It looked like Polanco had the right technique on the E grounder, it took an odd skip off his shoulder or chest.
  14. 2015 is closer to career norms than 2014.... I'm not
  15. you mean a starting catcher who is 33rd out of 33 in the AL by ESPN WAR? It's not squishy, he's terrible. Hermann is 18
  16. according to Dougie Baseball Polanco is being called up. I hope Duensing or Stauffer is DFA'd to make room
  17. i know! You only have 25 spots, 11-12 are pitchers, 8 are starting position players, one is a DH, only 4-5 spots left and two(!) of them would be catchers...
  18. just cuz he gets an extension, doesn't mean he earned it.
