  1. i gotta think the Sux only have 3 because they are unlikely to trade any of their cornerstone types, much like the Twins.
  2. Fascinating to see for the first time I can recall, Molitor actually doing something that made sense w/ the bullpen. Hildy isn’t exactly dominating the way I’d hoped, but I applaud the change in tactic.
  3. Dozier has heated up lately. You could be right. Dozier through June was so bad hitting and fielding. During his renaissance Dozier has been streaky, but not had the bad streak be this long or this deep. My take has been that Escobar is 18 months younger, so less likely to hit the age cliff that seems to take effect on middle infielders. Combine that with Escobar’s step up over Dozier in fielding and Escobar’s recent hitting excellence, it’s been my preference to keep Escobar and extend him for a couple years. With the recent winning streak driven largely by Dozier and Mauer’s hitting, and Romero coming back up for his start today, I wonder if the FO is backing away from sell mode a bit.
  4. On a similar vein, if managing Romero’s service time for super 2 and arbitration, why is he making this start? Did this last hot streak change course for Falvine?
  5. Announced Romero is up for tomorrow’s game as Sleger hIt the DL. No corresponding roster move yet announced. Belisle DFA? https://mobile.twitter.com/SethTweets/status/1018251313107427334
  6. so they can bring up a fresh arm for tomorrow’s bullpen game?
  7. If Buxton were firing on all cylinders like last fall, I’d be ok with Cave on the bench. Cave has been their best hitter over the last month. Don’t bench him now. Buxton needs minor league reps to get things right. Timing is not clear, but it wouldn’t shock me if Buck went to Appy Fall league instead of a September callup. It’s all up to Buxton, but his development is crucial to the future of the team. Maybe he can develop a suit of armor too...
  8. does that mean that Molitor is not allowed to move on from the way TK did things 25 years ago?
  9. in the smaller samples of 15 and 7 days being 8th in ABs means he’s playing most days, but batting 7-9 in the order. Why so slow to change?
  10. QO is calculated by the average of the top 125 salaries of the previous year. Many of the large long term contracts are back loaded, since the contracts are guaranteed. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/10/mlb-sets-2017-qualifying-offer-at-17-4mm.html
  11. 1.) Where are you from? NW Wisconsin 2.) Age Range? Late 30s 3.) What brought you to Twins Daily? I lurked BYTO and read Nick Nelson 4.) Highest level of baseball/softball played? It’s all low-lights but tried really hard 5.) Favorite Twins Player, and favorite underappreciated Twins player, and if you want, favorite current Twins player? Ever- Pucket Under- Scott Leius Current- Rosario 6.) Favorite non-Twins Daily site/authors? John Sanford 7.) Favorite Twitter follows? @PitchingNinja but I don’t have a handle 8.) Other interests outside of baseball. Economics, remodeling my pre 1900 home 9.) Favorite part of Twins Daily... It’s difficult to narrow down to one part. Historically the forums, but it has become the daily and weekly features, especially the recap analysis and reviews. 10.) Tell us what we can do better. What features or other topics would you like to see in-season or out of season? Advertising redirects are awful. I’m willing to subscribe if it means no more redirects. 11.) Have you been to any of the Twins Daily "events?" Yes, several. It would be great to have more family friendly events.
  12. Excellent work! Thanks for pulling this together! All of it looks realistic on an individual player level, but not for the Twins. I highly doubt the Pohlads ok another 130m payroll after this debacle. My guess is payroll next year will be around 110m. My other guess is ‘20 is when they’ll make a push again
  13. I held in my hand for a brief partial second a Dave Winfield BP foul ball, it slipped out and another fan grabbed it and kept it. I was a teen ager, so it wasn't a big deal, but the guy that got it was in his twenties and didn't give it to one of the numerous little kids who were watching BP. It stuck in my craw...
  14. agreed! It could also be the Twins have a lower threshold for acceptable return too.
  15. and? Other phrases commonly uttered by Twins audience members “I’m a masochist” And “Jesus! WTF was that!”
  16. they sent Romero down for service time consideration, since we’re selling anyways and the season is lost, might as well avoid super 2 with Romero
  17. the Twins have the second easiest strength of schedule remaining on the season. Cleveland has the easiest remaining schedule. Twins can and will keep chipping away at the AL central lead. Who knows, anything can happen. That shouldn’t stop the Twins from bringing up the young guys. It’s the old guys like Morrison, Belisle, and Dozier who have under performed and put them in this position. Busenitz, Gordon and Vargas or Sano (if ready) can’t be any worse.
  18. I'm sick of watching Motter, and have a higher threshold for trading Escobar as a candidate (in my mind) for QO than Dozier. Dozier, sure get what you can. You only need one hole to get a good look at DFA candidates, and frankly, Motter, Astudillo, Gordon, could be no worse than Dozier. If you have a prospect you want to see, I'm curious who that person is. I can't identify one that's ready. I get wanting to see Sano, but I'm doubtful hes a third baseman.
  19. who do you want to get innings in place of Escobar? I agree, trade is the best way to improve the team of the future, but there’s no one knocking on the door for 3B or 2b. Gordon isn’t making a case yet. I see there’s a guy lighting up Ft Myers, but he looks pretty old for A ball, and no way will his weight stick at 3B.
  20. With Escobar, this week, I would make one more offer of extension, 2 years 20 m for ‘19 and ‘20, if he declined, I’d look to trade him at the deadline along a similar threshold as Jorgenwest had. If no trade, then I would QO. I don’t see Sano sticking at 3rd. There’s no one in AA or AAA to man the hot corner. With Dozier, I would try to trade him for whatever I could get. If he goes on one of his second half binges, maybe he can be traded in August. He didn’t have much trade value two off seasons ago, he surely doesn’t have much now. Re-signing Dozier for a 1 year make good would be ok. I’m not sure Gordon is ready for the bigs, but he’s close enough. Dozier doesn’t seem like a better option than a not quite ready Gordon at this point. It’ll be interesting to see if Rooker gets some AAA time this year. He could be in the mix for DH/1b at some point in ‘19.
  21. 17 mil for one year of Escobar is a lot, considering you might be able to sign him for 2 years 20 mil. That being said, I’d prolly QO him too, if I couldn’t get a 2-3 year deal done
