  1. It's always going to be baffling when you're comparing apples to oranges.
  2. Check out Mayo he used different scouts. Did I mention Eades was the Cape Cod Pitcher of the Year in 2011?
  3. Somewhere I read the Twins the project Eades as a #2 and couldn't believe he fell to them. Don't concern yourself with 15 innings of rookie ball, that was just busy work after a very long college season for the workhorse. In comparison, Meyer didn't throw a pitch after the Nationals drafted him. Mayo has as our #10 prospect.
  4. I think Jackson is interesting also. Would the Twins make him their catcher of the future because of his power and overall hit tool? I read an article sometime ago, that said most likely he can stay at catcher, but teams may want to get his bat in the lineup earlier, hence the move to the OF like Harper.
  5. To get anything at all for Diamond/Worley/Deduno would be a bonus. Gibson will be in the rotation when he's ready to shine. When we shed Correia we will probably get more than Diamond/Worley/Deduno combined.
  6. Read a recent article which said the White Sox are leaning heavily towards a college stating pitcher to fill out the rotation ASAP. 13 of the last 17 years they have gone with a college player. The Loveable Losers are currently proclaiming their undying love for Starlin Castro. I think Trea Turner will be there at 5.
  7. Gibson said at Twins Fest he couldn't get his best pitch, his slider over 7 of 10 starts. Couldn't use it as a first pitch strike. That's a big problem and one that can't be blamed on Rick Anderson. Let him come up when he's ready to shine. That's one of the major reasons why we signed 3 free agent starting pitchers. We need Gibson and Meyer in the starting rotation by the start of 2015, that's all.
  8. This has been SOP for all teams. Is there a reason why you're unhappy with the FO of our favorite team?
  9. Off topic, but interesting to note, Gausman kept our very own Ryan Eades at the #2 starter at LSU. Aaron Nola, projected to go #10 this year by BA, did so the following year. Another concern was Eades 6.8K/9 rate, which is equal to BA's #2 pick this year, Jeff Hoffman.
  10. I think Buxton and Sano with receive Longoria deals. I'm sure the Twins realize we won't see another #2 pick for 10 years or so. The Pohlads pledged 50% of revenue on average will be used for payroll over time. I don't think they are burying the yearly excess in their back yard. I just believe over time hasn't arrived.
  11. Couldn't have said it better. At some point in time last season, a Twins official said lack of lefties is an organizational weakness. Since that time we have picked up Sulbaran, Kris Johnson, Gilmartin, and Raley. Small, minute risk moves.
  12. I think we are set at all positions except SS for years to come, and support those who believe we will have evidence of this in under 14 months. It's well known our favorite team will take the best BPA in the June draft. My best guess is the BPA will be Trea Turner, with an ETA of no later than 2016. I think Ryan will fill the final black hole, and go back to semi-retirement as he deserves.
  13. Jim Callis in his Wednesday draft chat a month before the draft, said Stewart would be up by 2015. Who knows?
  14. Until Thanksgiving, the anti-Ryan group was at least 10 times larger than the handful of Ryan supporters. I have no problem conceiving the much larger group would receive more infractions and bans than the much smaller group. I'm late to the dance here, on what has become a rather lengthy thread, that doesn't seem to want to go away. I was not anywhere near the first to bring up the members only mentality, double standards, or favoritism. I'm merely adding my me too. Let's see if the mods can step up to the plate this year, or if a hornet's nest is more comfortable for the members only club.
  15. Definitely double standards from the members only club. Not that long ago the handful of Pro-Ryan supporters were not made to feel real welcome on the Twins fan board. My favorite mod awarded me points for saying the parade starts in 2015 and followed that up with another when I posted Ryan was the two time Baseball Executive of the Year. Seems that's trolling/flame-baiting on the Twins fan board.
  16. I agree the board is dominated by a members only mentality. When I first joined the board, there was a stated desire to tone down the excessive negativity, but many of the members were uncomfortable with the board evolving from a hornet's nest. I was surprised by the venom one of the members attacked game thread, until I realized he was sending a message that one member had better not issue a warning to another member and expect to get off scot free.
  17. Comparing Gibson to Parmelee is comparing apples to oranges. If you're questioning the overall consistency of how Twins handle players that's the subject of a different thread IMO. With Deduno coming back from shoulder surgery and unlikely being ready on time, there is no reason to believe Gibson won't will be given every opportunity to win to the 5th spot, as it should be.
  18. I agree. I would be very surprised if it's not an organizational priority to position Gibson and Meyer to be penciled into the rotation come opening day 2015. They probably are not all that concerned about when it happens, as long as it does.
  19. There is a good reason not sign him, we just don't know it. I read somewhere Boras may have to market him as a 3B or 2B to get the interest up. WAG's on the Twins possible reasons? We are going to take Trea Turner if he is available. We have our sights on a specific player in the 2nd round, that we are higher on than others. A starting pitcher from Puerto Rico? Drew reminds me of a player falling down the draft board, that no one can figure out why. I'm perfectly content to let the Twins handle this one. Edit: I didn't see Levi's bad make up suggestion. That sounds feasible.
  20. No where on earth does Correia have less value than on this board. The same could have been said for Butera and Doumit. An inning eater for 5.5M is going to be attractive at some point in time.
  21. Every time I hear the words shoulder surgery, I cross the guy off the list and go to the next guy. In this case Gibson.
  22. Why not sit and wait to see how far the market drops on Drew? A great field/no hit SS playing next to Sano is not a bad deal for a team expected to compete, but not contend next season. I would be curious to know, if we would take Trea Turner if he is available.
  23. The loser of the Tanaka saga may well pay Garza 5 years for 75-85M. Garza, Santana, and Jimenez are not sitting around because they feel the price is going to drop. At least 2 of those 3 will probably be signing albatross contracts. I would sign Arroyo for 2 years and trade Corriea when the time is right.
  24. The too much starting pitching dilemma which seems to be causing undue angst to a handful, prior to Thanksgiving would have seemed like a gift from Heaven. I would guess even those with Pro-Ryan leanings were surprised how quickly and thoroughly he positioned the starting pitching rotation towards respectability, not only for 2014, but for several years beyond. If Diamond and/or Worley are lost for little or no value, it seems like a small price to pay for a team which lost 90+ games 3 years in a row and had the worst starting rotation in baseball in 2013. It's very common for teams to restructure the bullpen every offseason. With an acceptable core and many internal options available, I can't imagine it's a concern of any magnitude at One Twins Way.
  25. It's been evident from step one Correia is not one of your favorite people. I believe your focus is being questioned since you mentioned 12 other Twins.
