  1. One man's garbage is another man's treasure.
  2. IMO knowledge of baseball is a more important variable.
  3. I don't see any need to panic if Gibson, Hicks, Pinto, or even in the unlikely event Arcia, spend a fews weeks in the minors. All are well positioned to make the opening day roster come 2015, where they will probably be joined by at least Buxton and Meyer. I don't see where our favorite team is behind schedule.
  4. They already know he can play 2B at a high level, now they are going to try for a home run and see if he can play SS.
  5. Gibson still has a fair shot at making the rotation until it is in fact confirmed, but being first man up is hardly career threatening. 25 or so Major League starts with a strong possibility of being penciled into the rotation for 2015 seems like a good plan.
  6. A team that has lost 90+ games three years in a row, doesn't care that Worley had a good season three years ago. ST maybe largely meaningless, but that doesn't mean decisions won't be made based on how well Worley, Diamond, and Deduno perform.
  7. I have no idea if this is the right time, but the point is Correia is very tradable, and the notion that our young starting pitchers are being blocked is silly.
  8. When Sano got hurt, that pushed the parade back to 2016 according to some. If Meyer and May fail we have no option but to buy expensive FA pitchers until 2018. I'm considering petitioning the board to see if I can join the other side.
  9. The past is never over........it's not even really the past. --- anonymous
  10. Nick, I agree it's a concern. 6.8K/9 is definitely lower than what you would like to see, but equal to Hoffman who is currently rated #2. Hoffman's coach explained they are taught to get rid of each hitter with 2-3 pitches. Who knows. Believe the same scout who signed Stewart, signed Eades FWIW.
  11. Does it really matter? The idea is once he makes it up, to stay up. 87 at bats is what it is, nothing more. Also, he never said Pinto was fat. The exact quote was pleasingly plump.
  12. Eades was a high ceiling college junior. The Twins project him as a #2 and Mayo has as our 10th best prospect. He's a Boras client, so I'm not sure how easy he was to sign. I think many are confused because of the 15 make work innings he pitched after being drafting. Seth thought he might start in Ft. Myers, but regardless, IMO he's about as safe a starting pitching prospect as we have.
  13. How would you know what they aspire to? What # a pitcher is, takes in much more than 2013 stats. Scouting, make up and stats. Did you know the Cubbies just completed the worst back to back seasons in their 137 year history?
  14. Who specifically projects at a #5 ceiling? How has that approach been working for the Loveable Losers?
  15. It's silly to think our favorite team spent 84M just to trot Worley, Diamond, and Deduno right back out there. ST innings may be meaningless to us, but not so to them.
  16. I agree Nick's article was well written, but what I'm referring to is the less than exact term pile. One poster listed his pile labeled starters, while many are in fact relievers. Another poster has since used the same term and added another in spaghetti. Let me give an exact example. I would put Correia in the you can't ever have too much starting pitching pile and the pile of starting pitchers who can be traded for value when the time comes.
  17. Mike, what's the difference between blocking and good, healthy competition?
  18. Seth, good catch that 25 of the pitchers are left-handed. When our favorite team decides to address an organizational weakness they don't fool around.
  19. Playing baseball and selling cookies are not the same thing.
  20. I agree. Turner, Jackson, and Gatewood all look good to me.
