  1. A team in the rebuilding mode is always a pretty easy target. I question how many teams get more out of the International Market than the Twins. You certainly have to give Pat credit for playing for his crowd. He's the darling of the Strib comments section. On my other board we refer to the comments section as where intellect goes to die.
  2. Why? Ryan has 14 days left to resolve a win-win situation. He makes a haul or we retain a very good player. This is not the crowning moment of the Ryan Era.
  3. I like your idea, but I don't think that is the way we will go. We're somewhere in the middle of the rebuild and I think at this point in time, they're looking for good sticks in the MI. I would be surprised if we don't use our first pick on a SS next draft. It's a very real concern our position players will be ready before our starting pitching prospects and wouldn't rule out playing beer ball for a spell. I don't think we will deal our excess prospects unless we hit a fairly significant bump in the road.
  4. Last October the Pohlad's begged Ryan to remove the interim from his title well knowing the faith millions of Twins fans have in his ability to plot the proper course for the Twins Organization. My guess is he has a gentlemen's agreement where once the Twins are on top again, he will ride off into the sunset with their heartfelt thanks.
  5. I sure don't want him to change. The goal is to avoid a long rebuild. IMHO he's got this thing going in the right direction in just 18 months. I feel much more confident about the Twins future today than I did a year ago.
  6. I agree. I was going to suggest you not include any of our starting pitching prospects, but didn't want to nitpick.
  7. I like your proposed trade, no idea if it's doable. We have the 2 untouchables, no problem with putting everything else in play.
  8. Good job Boone. I would have guessed Wong.
  9. If Dozier continues to improve offensively, I can certainly see him entering the mix. That said, I would be very surprised if we didn't use our hard earned 1st draft choice next June. Ryan has methodically attempted to fill the black holes and IMO SS will be next.
  10. I believe the defenders are onboard with using 2nd tier free agents to fill in the pieces. IMHO the disagreement is confined as to whether it is a necessity to pursue top tier free agents, specifically starting pitching. I don't see this fundamental disagreement ever ending.
  11. During the rebuilding process, I think it can be difficult to make sense of the day to day decisions unless one is privy to the bigger picture. The national writers have been quite complimentary toward Ryan and I personally have never heard a hint of him being overmatched from those circles.
  12. The other alternative is, he is can wait for his own pitching prospects to develop and continue to augment that with second tier free agents as he has done in the past. I'm not sure any GM choses to go after the top SP free agents as their preferred way of doing business, and I can't foresee a set of circumstances which would force Ryan to do so. With the new found prominence of our farm system, I wouldn't rule out Ryan dealing prospects from a position of strength if he should chose.
  13. I don't disagree with you, but they had to try something. It is starting to feel like audition time in September. I'm hoping they pick up someone we can watch in the Perkins trade.
  14. Because he hates losing more than you do. Terry Ryan's methods are difficult to quantify. One may even say, they are in the eyes of the beholder.
  15. I'm hoping 2 of the 3 make the rotation next year to propel it from dismal to not so good. You're not so high on Worley, the others are looking better at this time?
  16. I like Worley, with Hendriks also probable around September call up.
  17. I believe you have accurately portrayed what was said for the cameras and I can certainly understand those who interpreted those statements as biblical.
  18. That's where you're wrong. The Twins organization views themselves differently and has different goals that most posters. The Twins goal is not to have a long rebuild. I'd guess they are okay with where they are at.
  19. To get to where we want to go, we need 10-12 top starting pitching prospects. We have somewhere around 7 or 8. The Twins have a tremendous margin for error having Buxton and Sano. What happens to Meyer is an inconvenience, nothing more.
  20. So Perkins is on the market as many of us knew he was, and Ryan is down to his last 18 days to see if he can make a killing.
  21. The parade won't stop due to one starting pitching prospect. Effecting our timeline is reserved for Buxton and Sano.
  22. Completely agree.
  23. I have a hard time believing, if all the facts were known, the Twins are extremely poor at trading players at the peak of their value. Easy to say, difficult and time consuming to prove in comparison to their peers. I get a lot of my information from Baseball America, and continue to believe as they do, that the Twins are a well run organization.
  24. I would say the truth is somewhere in the middle.
