  1. Is the Papa Johns coupon good in Iowa?
  2. Why are people not as high on Lewis Thorpe this year? Those numbers look solid to me, especially when you consider how young he is. Is it the higher walk rate?
  3. Do we think the Twins are willing to use a bullpen spot on Meyer/May/Pelfrey/Milone/whoever doesn't make the rotation? Or is that just what we think they should do?
  4. Dang. Good luck, Chris. Hope you do fantastic in Toronto.
  5. Are these one year deals or how do minor league deals work?
  6. Sounds like Amaurys Minier improved a lot since last year.
  7. I'm a fan of this move. Seems like a great guy for the job.
  8. Kinda sad to see him go, but this probably needed to happen. Thanks for everything, Gardy. On a more serious note, I'm young, have managerial experience, read a book about sabrmetrics, and also took four years of Spanish in high school. I'm pretty qualified for the job, right?
  9. The Summer of Beer and Whiskey by Edward Achorn is a fun and interesting book to read. It is about the revival of baseball in the early 1880s, primarily the 1883 season, that led to how baseball is today. Not specifically the game itself, but a lot about fan experience and such. Not sure how to make the link into words, but here is a link to the book on Barnes & Noble http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/summer-of-beer-and-whiskey-edward-achorn/1113412292?cm_mmc=googlepla-_-book_15to24-_-q000000633-_-9781610393775&ean=9781610393775&isbn=9781610393775&kpid=9781610393775&r=1
  10. Was it fun watching him run the bases?
  11. I didn't get to watch the game. So Kennys Vargas hit a triple?
  12. Which hand is it on? It also depends where he broke it. I broke my pinky on my right hand (I'm right handed) at the middle joint and they said that is the worst finger and place to have a break. I had surgery and was in a cast for close to 4 weeks and then had a removable cast for around another 2 weeks. Physical therapy was hard and it took a couple months before it was close to being back to normal.
  13. Not specifically asking you, jokin, but I was wondering why Zack Jones wasn't named to the AFL.
  14. In my mind, if it is a 50/50 proposition that pitchers are going to have arm issues, then we are doing something wrong. Not just the Twins, but every team.
  15. If the Kernels make the playoffs, would tickets for those games cost about the same as regular season tickets?
  16. Have him work on some LF in the offseason, especially if you don't like him at catcher. If we have a manager who is willing to get creative, he could easily play half the games a week between C/LF/DH. LF really isn't all that hard. I'm not sure how major leaguers like Bartlett and Nunez can make it look hard.
  17. Chad Christensen continued his solid hitting year for the Kernels last night by going 3-5 with his 22nd double of the year. He is now hitting .281.
  18. I think Arcia has 6 homers in August and 5 of them have come in the last week. His stats on ESPN say he has 5 in August but that isn't counting the one in the first inning, which was his 13th of the year.
  19. So has Arcia doubled his home run total in the last week or so?
  20. I'll get to work on the clone thing.
  21. Try him in a corner OF position. Maybe he can give you Josh Willingham defense in LF.
  22. I am sorry for Joe Mauer. The guy is one of the best hitters in the league. He has three batting titles (only catcher in MLB history to ever do that), an MVP, 3 Gold Gloves, 5 Silver Sluggers, 6 All Star appearances, yet he isn't good enough because he doesn't hit 30+ homeruns, have 100+ RBIs or play in 162 games a year. To go along with that, I've never read anything about him not being a nice guy. It's not Mauer's fault that the Twins weren't spending money. It's not Mauer's fault that the team sucked. It's not Mauer's fault that he has been injured. We can't act like another team wouldn't have paid him $20 million+ a year if the Twins didn't resign him. The things people say about him are terrible. It's despicable really. Twins fans don't deserve Joe Mauer.
