Article: TEX 4, MIN 1: Twins Muster Just 3 Hits in Loss
Tibs replied to Tom Froemming's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I have not been a fan of how the lineups have been put together lately. Get Mauer out of the 4 hole and up to 1 or 2. Get Kepler out of the 2 hole. Move Rosario up in the order. I would like to see Dozier out of the leadoff spot, but someone has to hit there. Polanco needs to be back in the lineup.- 46 replies

Article: Rule 5 Addition Discussion
Tibs replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Considering the Twins haven't developed a good SP for themselves outside of Jose Berrios in years, there is absolutely no way I don't protect Thorpe, Slegers, and Stewart. Say what you want about Stewart, but he has yet to fail a level and is a former #4 overall pick. There is no way someone wouldn't take a chance on him. I'm not sure how I feel about adding Lewin Diaz this early. It looks like a Jorge Polanco situation where at least his first two option years will be used in the low minors or AA. That sucks for Polanco because he doesn't have the opportunity to go back down to AAA to get some work in when he clearly needs it. If the FO thinks Diaz absolutely gets taken, then I'm fine with him being protected.- 93 replies

Article: Twins Close To Acquiring LHP Jaime Garcia?

This could be a very good trade for the Twins. It shouldn't cost much at all and could go a long way in helping the rotation -

Brandon Crawford is interesting to me, but he is 30 and hasn't been good offensively this year. Without checking the advanced stats it looks like he is fielding well this year. I'm only interested in any of the SF starting pitchers if they are very cheap.- 15 replies

Big fan of this, obviously depending on the cost. Bautista could make this lineup very scary

I think insinuating that we have middle infield depth is getting way ahead of ourselves. Polanco currently is about average defensively but has been awful with the bat so far this year. I expect him to hit better than this, but as of now he isn't. Brian Dozier is 30 and a free agent after next year. Vielma is a tremendous fielder but is hardly a threat with the bat. Anyone besides Gordon is at high A or rookie leagues currently. Do we even have a 2B prospect(not SS who could potentially move)? It has to be a legit #2 or better for me to consider trading Nick Gordon. At that point we might be giving up so much in that trade that it will hurt the organization. SS at the major league level is definitely not in a good spot currently.
-
Absolutely not. Don't trade prospects when you are two games over .500 and lost over 100 games the year before. It's ridiculous to trade one of our top prospects for a reliever this year. We aren't the 2016 Cubs or Indians trading for the best relievers in the game. A 43-41 team trading a top 100 prospect, or multiple as some have suggested, for a reliever who has been pretty good for a year and a half is exactly how you become arguably the worst team in baseball since 2011 or whenever the Twins started performing poorly.
-
I've been wondering if Duffey has been pitching poorly lately because of overuse. Hopefully some days off soon and other reliable bullpen options will prevent that from happening in the second half.

At this point we just have to wait for Buxton's bat to come around. He cannot be sent to AAA. The Twins need him in CF

Holy cow Vielma's right arm is actually a cannon. I really hope Kolton Kendrick can get it going this year. His BP film from his senior year of high school was very fun to watch.

Article: Twins Throw Curveball With Draft Strategy
Tibs replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The more I read and see of Enlow, the more I like him over Hunter Greene. Enlow's curveball is filthy. Obviously Greene has all the potential in the world if he can figure out how to throw breaking pitches, but that's a big if with high schoolers. With how quickly he signed, I'm beginning to wonder if Enlow and the Twins did in fact have a deal in place before he was picked. -
