  1. I keep talking about the Twins business model as well as their antiquated baseball strategy. Letting young players wear out in the minors instead of the majors makes no sense unless you are like the Yankees of old and just keep hoisting World Series Cups on to your shelf. But a bad team? However, it is a fact that MLB is a business and as such paying attention to fans in general and your most loyal in particular is important. I say bring up a minor league stud every homestand - make it exciting - see if you can fill some seats and maybe win some games. Do they want the best ball park to be an empty ball park?
  2. Play Arcia - If Rosario beats him out fine, but not Shane Robinson and Schaffer and Nunez and Escobar. Give him confidence. Remember the old story about Mays going 0 for 24 (I think my memory is right on that) and Durocher told him he was the CF and he would stay in the lineup. He gave him both the chance and the confidence. Instead of grumbling about his attitude lets help him get a good attitude and help the line up too.
  3. Sano and Buxton strike outs validate their being sent down. I hope this straightens out fast.
  4. My biggest issue is the fact that we are a losing team, but we continue to backfill like we have a few holes and we can compete while the message from the organization has been (year 5 now) look at all we have in the minors. The Twins attendance has floundered. They depend on a lot more ticket buyers than those of us who read and respond to blogs, but they do not use their 20 - 25 roster spots to appeal to those who want to see the great minor leaguers in the major leagues. This is pure business public relations misses and sports are business. Even if the players come up, go back down, and have some lumps in the majors it is better than putting our a product where the response is boredom.
  5. Nice list - levity is a good thing and if the Twins have a great weekend we will all be happier.
  6. This is wonderful. It keeps me Twin focused even when the MLB club leaves me bewildered. Thanks. Lookout - they're coming
  7. Sorry, but there is no place to misplace a concern on the team at this point.
  8. All we can do is use TD to express our frustration with this 90 loss team keeping the blue chips in the minors when other teams demonstrate the ability to get their young players up while they are still young.
  9. I would say that this combined roster would be my choice in any series with the current Twins major league team. In fact the AA team by itself would push the major league team. How many years now have the prospects been touted - they sure seem to be hear. By the end of the year I certainly hope we can stop saying they are on their way and say - they are hear. Look at Houston. The went in the tank and came back out of it during the time we have managed to stay a bottom feeder.
  10. It looks like there is plenty of room for Sano to make a quick trip up here if not to the Twins. The infield look very weak, but it appears that we are in good shape in the majors there. Might need to trade pitching staffs with MN.
  11. Only the call up of minor leaguers will save the season. If the vets in the pitching get the Bartlet and Kubel treatment and leave town will we be better. But the Twins have a history of putting crap on the field in the beginning and being forced to make changes - lets hope it happens quickly.
  12. I have no idea what he will do, but I do think Avisail Garcia will move to the top of the list this year.
  13. Great job describing the team. If the Twins are trying to generate the excitement at Target Field that has been lost the last four years - this is not the team to do it.
  14. In a discussion on Buster Olney's podcast yesterday they discussed the fact that teams are now realizing that leaving players in the minors does not extend their career, protect their arms, or even improve them after they have got their basics. The comment was that teams are bringing players up earlier and getting their max value out of them. Did the Twins management miss the message board?
  15. This is the nicest thing I have read all spring - please send a copy to Terry Ryan. Tell him it is okay to trade the wily vets even if we are playing near 500
  16. Ceiling - ,500 floor .444. If only TR was an aggressive GM, trade the high price assets role in the minor leaguers midseason and we boost the minors and bring in energy that would raise the ceiling for me.
  17. You make a good quote and I have to back off some, but the quotes I have read - many in this TD site have really been the continuing thread of frustration over power. His peak year with 28 has turned everyone's head. He is a modern incarnation of Wade Boggs who also frustrated with one big power year. You win this round (I am quite neutral about Mauer). 11 years 1540 hits - what is your odds he will get to 3000. I say no chance, he would have to stay on the field more than his body will let him.
  18. 225/290/300 - by the time we get to mid-June we will see who wins in the contest between Rosario and Hicks and the winner will be here the rest of the year. The Buxton comes up in September, Torii is fourth outfielder next year and we move on and quit getting the nice "scrappy" players.
  19. 240 (let's not get too optimistic - he would be very improved to get to this level) 30 home run if they do not get too upset with his strikeouts and fielding. I am a little worried that he is looking a little pudgy in his photo with this article and based on what I have read I wonder if he can maintain plate discipline over the whole year. I really want him to succeed!
  20. 240 32 20 He will swing for power and take down his average. He is the best of the worst. This is not the strongest position in our division which is good because Trevor has trade value. Learn from Bean - trade while there is a little upside to maximize your return.
  21. NO NO NO - there have been many decisions that baffled me this spring, but to make the bullpen older is the ultimate. Only Graham, who has a terrible minor league resume is under 30. In a year where expectations for all but the most optimistic are dire it is time to put the young arms in and let them learn in the bigs.
  22. 250 with 18 home runs - stolen bases might go up because I expect that Molitor will want the running game to be more aggressive. ESPN has him #6 overall second baseman, I would put him on top of this list.
  23. 280/380/410 I rank him last. I will take the HRs and I think that Hosmer will build from his series success. Joe seems to be aging poorly and I have read that he will be rebounding his numbers for three years. I think he has settled into the definition of a replacement player, not elite, not bad, just a person who can fill a spot.
  24. The rankings do not talk about pitch framing or fielding. It seems that we cannot rank them without that. If I remember the articles on this forum Suzuki is not a great framing catcher. Second would be the ability to throw out runners. Third is the success of pitchers - calling the game. These mean more to me than what he will bat. But I cannot rank because I personally do not know. .240/.300/.350
  25. Sorry, optimism is not to be found in many of us fans for good reasons. When we are not just reading Twin centric postings and look at other sites we get a sense that no one even wants to talk about the Twins. The Tigers look good with three potential studs in the rotation and massive bats in the lineup. Cleveland is developing a quality staff (note developing not free agents, not wily old vets) and is picked by some. The White Sox got hitters and pitchers and is the most improved time but still third. KC went to the world series and is picked fourth. That is the division - oh wait, the Twins are there too. Maybe a slightly better than last year fifth. I keep looking for optimism and I would rather than a really young club that did have a future.
