Pittsburgh's arm has reached MN. Brace yourselves for record number of losses before Falvey and Shelton are both shown the door. I don't think the Pohlads have investors to pay down their debt so therefore, my prediction will be the Twins move to Montreal before 2030. Nice knowing you guys. At least I have the Vikings and Timberwolves to root for, let alone the teams in Germany.

The Twins are more like the Montreal Expos before they moved to Washington and not the Pirates. There, the team fell into irreverance completely, to a point where there were lack of signage to even the Expos Stadium. Eventually MLB bought the team to rebuild it before selling it to a manager who vowed to move the team to its present site. But the Twins are really, REALLY close to becoming the Expos, maybe not in 2026 but before 2030 when the team is sold to someone who will eventually move it out of state because the fans are strangers to the team. I remember how they came very close to contracting in 2001, together with the Expos. That can realistically happen if the Pohlads don't start investing in the team and talent right now or sell it to a group of investors who have the cash and resources to rebuild from the ground up. What will it take for Minnesota to wake up before the worst case scenario happens?

The article basically mirrors what I've also predicted with the Twins moving forward. The complete teardown is inevitable given the current developments of the team at present, but my bet is it will not be before 2030 when the Twins finally become competitive again. Most likely the Twins will set records for the worst losses in 2026 and 27 before the Pohlads sell the team and move on and the new owners will have a 50/50 chance to keep the team in the state or move it to a more competitive city, like Salt Lake City, Nachville, Memphis or Charlotte, which would be fatal to the sports scene in Minnesota. But I've long since written them off unless MLB Commissioner Ron Manfred rejects the partnership plan and forces the team to sell before the 2026 season starts. He will even be more pressured by Pres. Donald Trump who will not allow for teams to intentionally tank to get high draft picks and already has MN on his **** list for multiple reasons.

In my opinion, the Twins will hit rock bottom come next season and then the Pohlads will sell the team but not before firing the entire front office and even the new manager, whom I feel sorry for already. The Cleveland Browns version of the Twins are here for the upcoming 2026 and 27 seasons. Unless the Pohlads sell the team.

The Twins are really learning from the Cleveland Browns School of Learning. Unbelieveable. The Pohlads are deadset on rebuilding from the basement up. If they have any decency, they would hire someone who is deadset on winning the World Series from the getgo and put a bunsen burner under every ass of the players to get them to be ultra competitive. Anything less than that and we may never see another World Series title in MN.

From my perspective, the Twins will become the next Montreal Expos, when their ownership ran the team to the ground before MLB stepped in on two different occasions and lastly relocated to Washington to become the Nationals. I don't know what the Pohlads were thinking when they did what they have done within the past two years with cutting down on the payroll and lastly trading away the players. If they go ahead and trade off Lopez, Ryan and Buxton, then there's no reason to visit Target Field for the foreseeable future. It's time to clean house. My preference is when Ron Manfred and MLB steps in and either puts pressure on the Pohlads to sell or they wrest control away from the team and sells it to someone like Ishbia who has that capital. I know for sure MLB will not approve the minority ownership given the dire straits the team is in. It will be a very interesting offseason to see how much house cleaning will be done. But my prediction will be a 110+ losing season in 2026 and 27 and hence new records in the opposite direction before they finally rebound and become a playoff team by 2031.

My take: The Twins will go along the same line as the Montreal Expos before they became the Washington Nationals: They will shed their important assets and start from the ground up, then ask MLB to either buy the franchise or fold it, which by that time there will be next to no one attending the games at Target Field. Should the team survive that, it will surely be bought by someone who will move the team out of state- perhaps back to Montreal, which if true, I will never watch a baseball game ever again. If there is a way to stop the Pohlads from taking the money and running at the team's expense, then pressure must be applied on them to sell the team now so that we can finally invest in the squad and make use of that promise to bring a championship to Target Field. Investors with deep pockets, the state of MN, the fans and especially Ron Manfred of MLB must join forces to wrest control away from the Pohlads and put someone in that is not a penny pincher nor think of dollar signs but think about the team and its future in the state. Firing Baldelli and keeping Falvey and Zoll are just window dressings that will not solve this problem. The problem lies with and especially starts with the Pohlads and we must solve this one now- not one year from now nor after the possible lockout, but right now. Because if the Twins go, so will Target Field and with it, the millions we invested in making the Pohlads happy.

Nice write-up and preview. However, as cheapskatish as the Pohlads are, they will simply not spend anything on free agents and rely on the prospects only. Furthermore as they have another year where they could get a top draft pick, expect them to tank it and break the mark for the highest number of losses. After the salary dispute is settled, they will then sell the team, take the money and run. That is the team owned by the Pohlads- learning from the Montreal Expos before they relocated to Washington, and the Twins will be gone by 2030.

If I were the players, especially Buxton, Lopez and Ryan, but on behalf of the rest of the team, I would storm to the ownership's box after the last inning of a disastrous 2025 season and demand a clear explanation of what is ahead. I would vent my frustrations and make the point clear that we want to win and we cannot with kids on the squad. If the Pohlads cannot invest in the free agency, then they should demand a trade. My feeling is the Pohlads want to either sell the team or move it out of state as soon as possible anyway. In any case I would say good riddance! We can get investors homegrown for an expansion team anyway, let alone live without the Losers.

The Twins will have another enemy to contend with: Donald J Trump. While he failed to buy the team in 1983, Trump is definitely eyeing teams like the Twins who are tanking, just so he can swoop down, buy the franchise and move it out of state, leaving us without a baseball team. We all know he has a total hatred toward Minnesota, but we also know he cannot stand to watch the Minnesota Losers lose intentionally. I wrote a lengthy article about this topic and have left the Pohlads with one stern warning: "Invest to compete for next year or watch the Twins disappear completely." There is a time to tank the team but this is NOT the time to do so if the Pohlads are serious about keeping the team in Minnesota. That one I fully agree. The Twins will become celler dwellers until 2029 and maybe, just maybe they will finally win the World Series in 31, for the first time in 40 years. Unless the Pohlads sell the team to someone willing to keep the team in MN....... But for now, expect the Twins to go for the top draft pick in 26 and 27, unless we have a lockout.

If the Pohlads are serious, they should lower the price to buy the team and walk away with whatever is offered. They are what their record has said over the past 40 years, when comparing them with the other big leaguers, especially those who have won the World Series multiple times over that span. Right now they are doing one of three things: 1. They are resetting the team and with that, another decade of 90+ loss seasons 2. They are making the team so unattractive that they either relocate or sell to someone who does just that. Look at the Montreal Expos and Oakland As 3. They take the team into bankruptcy and it's MLB that will come as a savior to save them. In any case, if the Pohlads are dead serious about this, they should up it and be active in selling the team, inform the fans who the buyers are and allow us to decide who should run the team and keep it in MN going forward. They should then explain themselves right up front of why they are making these choices and take it like true men when the heat is on. Then they should walk and never set foot on MN soil ever again. My take on this.....

This is the same question I've been having since the giant selloff. If there were interested buyers, don't they think that they should identify themselves instead of keeping it a secret? What we really right now is to find out a new buyer is either going the same way with the Pohlads or move the team out of state to North Carolina, Salt Lake City, Jacksonville, or some other profitable place. We've seen this many times before in Minnesota sports history. There are times I wish that Gov. Walz would step in and have a say on this, especially after we donated our money to Target Field. If we want a stadium, we should have a baseball team there as well, especially one that is able to win the World Series. If there are any potential buyers, they should come forward so we can look at them. Follow the Vikings and Wolves' examples for once.

Week in Review: It All Falls Apart
Twinkie in Deutschland replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I doubt the team would be moving anywhere in the future, although it would not be a surprise if they announced it given what happened with the firesale. My guess is that the Pohlads are simply trying to unload the team to the highest bidder to relieve themselves of the burden and allow for the new owners to inject cash and life into that organization. We do have a lot of suitors with ties to MN and the team so chances of them moving would be unlikely. Even if they did, we would probably get either an expansion team in three years or one of the minor league teams would be upgraded to a major league team, like the St. Paul Saints, because we cannot afford to turn Target Field into a city liability,- 43 replies

The move was a necessity but not enough. The real thing would be if the Pohlads sold the team that will inject talent and bring the fans back to Target Field. Until they do, we will see empty stadiums and boos from Twins fans with I really hope they will do this, a chant every game saying "Sell the Team"

The Twins Finally Picked a Lane
Twinkie in Deutschland replied to Matthew Taylor's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Being a Twins fan since being a kid, this one will remember this trade as the day we gave up on baseball. I have already lost hope on the Twins on the season and possibly for the next three seasons. I see the massive trade being a necessity because they were going nowhere and the only way to go is to start over from scratch. But that is just the beginning. The next step should and must be the Pohlads selling the team because of their indifference that has resulted in three decades of playoff futility and an additional decade of playoff disappointment minus 1987 and 1991. We have seen other baseball teams and MN profi teams leapfrog the Twins and the problem starts with the owners. The family should start actively look for a potential buyer who will inject new life into the team and bring back baseball back to the Twin Cities. Only then will be sure of a return to the postseason. Otherwise it will be another decade of humility with 90+ loss seasons. At this point, it's time for the Pohlads to sell the franchise right now and go.- 301 replies
