  1. We have tried hedging bets on platooning 1B and DH in bargain bin over the past few years and produced nothing Apparently speed was always there to be used (or even not needed) and yet we steadfastly refused to even try stealing till meaningless September games We have no contact hitter who would grind quality at bats day in and day out reliably Bunts and Sac flies are non-existent Over the years of mediocrity, what that translates into is inability to capture key moments in the game to consistently win against MLB opposition. I think its a systemic problem from top down to bottom up !
  2. Twins finished forth worst in the league and lost season series to all 3 teams below them in the standings ! That should tell the story 🤦‍♂️
  3. I found my old blog post from 2012 about Twins ineptitude in general - and it still works in 2025 The Twins school of baseball Aug19 1. How to score minimum number of runs in an inning with runner(s) in scoring position. Ground out into double plays Fail to advance the batters when nobody out either through infield groundouts or meek popup Getting struck out Never hit a sacrifice fly 2. How to give at least the minimum possible runs in an innings Exactly the opposite of all bullet points mentioned above 3. 2 strike fouls always should lead to extra base hits to the opposite batters (and K’s to Twins batters) 4. Commit more errors (more often than not in key spots) 5. Hits are more often singles which couple along with Double Plays mean that even 3 hits in an inning will produce no runs on the board 6. Keep too much for the end. So you feel like you have put up an fight and lost a close ballgame but in reality that never going to be a W ! Keep all the big hits for 8th and 9th innings when team is already down by more than 4 runs This has been a story for last 2 years after earning a reputation of a team who knows the basics in the earlier decade. Can you point out the exact reasons for such a binary turnaround?
  4. Almost felt like Cle was baiting twins to tie it so that they can walk it off later
  5. My feeling is that FO is counting on Duran to become injury prone (after heavy usage with the Twins) for this trade to work in favor of them
  6. Well..for all the what ifs - we traded right handed MLB ready bat in Rooker away with a logjam of LH OFs kept on the roster ! Shipping Kiriloff away probably would have been better in the hindsight
  7. With so many underwhelming returns, I am sure another random non-prospect could have been had even with bloated salary
  8. Surprised that Vazquez is still here :O
  9. Get Jonah Bride back for pitching and sign Bartolo Colon and Rich Hill 🤫
  10. Wish there was a 'finger crossed' emoji reaction here ! Hoping this follows Nelson Cruz footsteps
  11. This is sad...I thought they would only trade one out of Jax and Duran..Losing them both sucks
  12. Will I be correct in assuming that closer to the deadline we wait to deal remaining players, our chances of FINALLY getting someone decent it return would go up??
  13. yes..nothing against blowing it up but surely we should have netted more substantial returns overall...going out of business sell or 'sale'?
  14. Is Royce Lewis trade on the cards??
  15. Hoping Castro nets us some worthwhile return (and comes back next season..lol)
  16. Didn't see that coming ! Won't be surprised if he flips the switch and suddenly becomes the clutch hitter for Astros down the stretch
  17. Seems like Twins like to trade for players who random go-ahead HRs against them (as their only career highlight) ..John Ryan Murphy anyone?
  18. Should have added him in the conversation with Duran deal itself to get better prospect haul...seems like ALL MN teams are pretty awful when it comes to landing decent returns.
  19. Any chance they would flirt with the idea of seeing Prielipp in short bullpen bursts later this year or would they play conservative with his injury history?
  20. When you manage to get Buxton into a double play (with second fastest runner behind him at the plate), that should tell you how this team hits. Following the hitting pattern, the batter would no doubt put a shallow popup or K if the runner was in the scoring position. We lose to teams playing good solid, fundamental baseball (like Rockies did) and opponent pitcher ERA has no relevance with general ineptitude of our lineup. Ty France is turning into CJ Cron when he was with twins (bunch of lazy popups in RBI opportunities)
  21. May be an unpopular opinion, but I wouldn't mind twins trading Royce Lewis and sell high (if he maintains yesterday's 2HR game for another week or so). At this point, I would rather have a solid everyday player than tantalizing and flashy talent who for one reason or the other causes agony to the fans every time he is on the field. Albeit, I wouldn't be surprised him playing a solid 140-odd games in a full season for the the team we trade him to.
