Well we have Micky Gasper. 3 hit night and game tying home run and threw out a would be base stealer. Not much else to see positive on the horizon. If you have followed the team the last 45 games you well know it’s not just the play on the field that is the problem.

The ownership mess will dictate more than the on field performance going forward. I think Lopez gets dealt fairly early in the off season. Likely the offers for Ryan will be large enough he gets moved also. For anyone who thinks Ryan will want an extension I ask if you are Joe Ryan why would you sign an extension with the Twins? He likely wants an extension just not with this team and I wouldn’t blame him a bit if he asks to be traded. The mess the Twins are in currently with ownership is worse than the contraction threat years and players like Joe Ryan want no part of it.

Nothing points to success like going 1-5 against the Athletics and White Sox. Everyone was clamoring to so Abel and Bradley. Well now you have seen them in Twin’s uniform.

The lack of development of bats goes down below the major league level. Austin Martin, Julien, and Larnach were all high level college bats going into Twins system. I realize there are no guarantees but it has gotten ridiculous. Miranda is a case unto itself but where are the success stories? Royce even admits to being confused by the system. Brent Rooker was given up on and is now an all star.

A little premature to do that I believe. Young pitchers need innings to harness their control. Taller longer limbed guys take time to grow into their bodies. A starter with poor control is not going to be able to get enough innings pitching out of the pen. Mathews has potential to be a no 1 starter someday. Rushing him last season might have delayed his development a bit. It looks to me like he trying to too much at once and consequently is not doing what he once was good at and that is fastball control.

Two very different injuries if you can call SWR situation an injury. SWR is with the Twins this weekend so will likely be activated for today’s game. Lopez will get at least one maybe two more starts at AAA. There are reasons to start him yet this season whether they plan to trade him or not. I definitely think he gets traded this off season. I am not sure they even consider Bradley a future starter. He may get a few starts but something tells me they plan on making him a bull pen pitcher going into next year.

Nice to see Royce’s bat come to life. Abel showed both the potential and the risk of acquiring AAA talent. We will know a lot more by season’s end.

He still needs more time in the rotation. The way pitchers are developed these days it takes more starts to determine what you have. Just being around Lopez and Ryan will help him grow and mature.

On the radio broadcast yesterday the Diamond Player of the game was a five year old that caught a foul ball. Maybe Falvey can get his phone number. He probably would play for just some candy. Well maybe throw in a hot dog and beer for his mom and dad. Likely would be more entertaining than this group of wanderers.

The current team can’t hit and has below avg. fielding with no bullpen. Going to be awhile before the Twins challenge anybody but for the basement of the division.

The front office likely has their reasons. Working on some things they want cleaned up. He might as well be as ready as they possibly can make him when they bring him up as this season is lost. My guess is they want him in the rotation when the 26 season starts. Rushing the process sometimes regresses the development of the individual.

If I am Joe Ryan why do I sign an extension? He has been very healthy aside from the injury last season. I just don’t see it happening. He basically said he would welcome a trade. I don’t think the “new investment” type ownership changes one single thing. Lopez is so gone that all we will be talking about is the return.

Blah blah blah. The Pohlads record speaks for itself. Even if they wanted to extend a player like Joe Ryan they won’t be able to because of what has transpired. The only free agents you are going to be able to sign are some washed up players who should likely retire. There is no way to sugar coat this anymore.
-
The Pohlad family has never been honest with their fans. Why start now? I remember a time when they just needed a stadium and they would then be competitive. When they trade Lopez and Ryan Buxton may feel a bit different about his no trade clause. I personally am done as a fan until ownership is changed.

Yes indeed. The goal for every Twins fan should be to make sure this franchise is last in the league in attendance next year.

What I want to know is about the Varland and Jax trades is if you were going to move them in a market that had a premium on relievers why the last second deal that netted you very little? Seems someone was in his ear telling to sell at all costs. The returns he received for what he traded is sad to say the least. Any good business doesn’t operate under desperation but we all know the Pohlad trust babies are not good at business. Be that as it may Favley’s fingerprints are on the team that is taking the field. If he is proud of that then that tells you he is happy collecting his paycheck. This never was about winning for him either.

Ope, Didn't Mean to Let You Have Hope

Well I guess Funderburk needs a job and pretty sure he couldn’t cut it on a winning team. Heck he might be the new closer. -
The Twins Finally Picked a Lane
Glorybound replied to Matthew Taylor's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
They will be hard pressed to win ten games the rest of the season. Sending out young pitchers to get bludgeoned is not development. Sending out young batters to get overmatched is development either. I doubt that there are more than 2 players that they acquired at deadline that will have a long term impact on the team. I am not sure what would compel someone to buy a ticket to see this crap show. One has to ask are the new owners planning a franchise move?- 301 replies
