  1. Arcia's Debut and a breakout year at second base combined with two of the top three and seven of the top 100 prospects has made the Twins more interesting than the Vikings for me to talk about DURING FOOTBALL SEASON! I also think AAA international league player of the year numbers can bring a cup of coffee to anyone. Cola and Thielbar earned it!! The Bleh in the line up was PJ Wilson, Clete Thomas, Wilkin Ramirez, Cole DeVries, Liam Hendricks, Etc. That have already been cut.
  2. Would be neat to see foreign born as well. I looked for Johan before realizing he did not fit the 4yr, JC, or HS categories. Also interesting no 3yr pitchers as college juniors can be drafted...
  3. Disagree. I want whoever is best long term to be in a Twins Uniform. The jury is still out, we do not really know if these guys are better or worse than Correia, Pelfrey, or even Hughes. We have some good clues from advanced stats but we really do not KNOW who will be best.
  4. It seems that this thread about CC has been hijacked in favour of a discussion about Catchers... Just saying.
  5. My favourite memories include every Kirrrrrrrbyyyyyyyy Puckett introduction in which the crowd became so loud you couldn't hear the last name. HE was the most special thing(Person) I remember in connection with that place.
  6. Tickets and hotel to Cedar Rapids. Wife gave me that last year for my birthday, arrived for second game after Buxton was promoted...(first scheduled visit was rained out or I would have seen him in April) was still an INCREDIBLE gift.
  7. My only concern with your evaluation is lumping Correia in with Blackburn and Diamond. We know Correia is better than Blackburn and I would take a young Correia type pitcher who could pitch 200 innings for the next 6 years on the cheap for Doumit. Blackburn, no! Diamond is still partially a question mark but leaning more Blackburnish ATM... I'm rooting for a Correia type from this guy though. Not great but that's a serviceable return.
  8. I would have no idea the full impact of a pitcher on attendance but I can affirm that I have chosen to pay for tickets to watch specific home team pitchers and avoided others. For example, I was a complete Radke Rube for a while and went to see him. Same could be said of Johan.
  9. I like the optimism but I would love to see a Twins pitcher with less than a 3.50 ERA...
  10. With our training staff recent history, fans have been trained to worry... Just saying
  11. Trade 2-3 relievers for prospects and whoever loses the fifth starter battle and is out of options gets a bullpen spot LR/6th starter
  12. This is my only fear with this off season. Who that we lose will turn into our next Ortiz, Liriano, or Dickey? Hendricks? Plouffe? Parmalee? Worley? Gibson? Colabello? Deduno? Albers? We would guess none of them but that was what we said when letting Ortiz and Dickey walk and traded Liriano.
  13. Can't argue with the desire for a better OF. Need more power from the corners (Praying for a Willingham rebound) but I think Arcia will provide that from RF. But even with a Willingham rebound, it would be nice to have power AND defence in left.
  14. If you can get value for Plouffe or Parmalee I'm in. Like Hendricks, they've had their shots and it's time to move on. I am betting on Sano coming out of Spring Training. I'd prefer prospects with higher upside than the MLB ready names given so far.
  15. Fairness in conversation has to recognise that in order to sign a Greinke, you usually (though not always) have to have a team that hopes to contend. TR has acknowledged that some players took lesser deals to sign elsewhere over us last year. There are players that take the best deal and there are others that also want to win. I personally prefer the latter type of player though it currently is making things harder for the Twins.
  16. I voted Hicks because I think he's this years Dozier.
  17. Dixon Machado was recently removed from the Tigers 40 man roster to make room for FA and Trade acquisitions. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=machad001dix&utm_campaign=Linker&utm_source=direct&utm_medium=linker-www.typepad.com He was one of their top 25 prospects at high A. Here is a scouting report: http://www.blessyouboys.com/2013/1/10/3859402/the-top-50-prospects-countdown-no-24-ss-dixon-machado The question I have is who could we release to pick him up and would it be worth putting him on the 40 man and optioning him to New Britain?
  18. Deduno= 1 decent year, Jury out Worley= 1 decent year, 1 bad, Jury out Diamond= 1 decent year, 1 bad, Jury out Gibson= 1 bad year, Jury out Hendricks= Jury has ruled, he's out The thing people are concerned about is 10 years from now one of these players making us regret cutting them loose for nothing and wearing rings or winning awards we wish they had won with us. (See R.A. Dickey or numerous others) I see nothing wrong with discussing and fretting over these concerns as long as we make the right baseball decisions in the end. Some of the worst offenders are gone already (See Cole DeVries, P.J. Walters, And Liam Hendricks) so what do we do with these others? I think it's a good question... I believe you answered the riddle yourself, Spring Training. May the best men win! But how many spots are they fighting for 2 or 1? You named three spots taken and TR said Deduno already has a spot. That only leaves one until injuries. Riddle me this, should we get another FA pitcher or trade for an ace and just cut loose Worley and Diamond while sending Gibson back to AAA with Albers. Do we do that without a real Spring Training tryout? This is what others are also concerned about. Will it really be best man wins or will it already be set before ST.
  19. 1894 Tops pack? I'm in. Can't wait to put that old gum in my mouth!!
  20. Love it! I was trying to get a number in my head for how many Arcia hits and when I saw your 28, I knew it was the right number to guess. I agree also with old goat that Sano will not light the league on fire and have growing pains but I think he will still hit HRs at a high level with a lot of strike outs and a lower batting average.
  21. You forgot Kyle Gibson... I would not have picked Gibson but some might!
  22. If they need multiple relievers, give them more than one. Duensing, Burton and someone else Instead of Perkins. Fill their loss with Ibarra, Tonkin and someone else like Hendricks. We have a lot of depth at relief pitcher.
  23. The obvious reason for a SP to be cut instead of Mastro is that we signed 2 Starters... At this point we unfortunately need a Mastro type on the MLB 25 man roster until the OF shakes out and hopefully shapes up!
  24. This was actually what I predicted to Happen with Hendricks. Send him back to AAA to convert to a reliever. Same for DeVries and PJ Walters whatever club they end up with next year. We gave them a shot and it's time to move on. Really hoping the same is not said of Mays and Gibson in a year or two...
  25. That would definitely make more sense. Dang it Jeremy, I trusted you.
