  1. Yes Sano had 2 HRs but that's the only hits and combined with the strike outs, recovering from surgery, and no one expecting him to be ready, I'm ok with the option. We need to see others get their at bats and sort out who actually makes the team not watch a prospect. My only disappointment in ALL the cuts was Oliveros but that bullpen is gonna be crowded with starters we can't option out especially is May and/or Meyer make the squad.
  2. I see Rosario making his debut before Buxton or Sano. I Would even bet he's the first rookie to debut this year. If you're going to give the kid a shot, you might want to do it early in the year cuz Buxton is up by September...
  3. Keys to the fast start: Dozier, Plouffe, Santana, and Vargas need to show last year was the real deal and play like they did a year ago. Mauer's sweet stroke returns to make up for Suzuki's return to Earth The Outfield comes together AKA Hicks becomes what he should have been two years ago Pitching! Santana and Hughes lead the pitching staff back to respectability allowing the offense to carry us Sano and Buxton stay healthy so they can get called up
  4. In 1987 I went to my first Twins game. Growing up 6+ hours from the cities makes it hard to get there. Bottom of the 12th I took a picture of Puckett on 3rd, Hrbek on 2nd, Gaietti on 1st and Bruno batting with 2 outs. When they retired him, the family that took me to the game announced we were leaving (they had a baby and 3 yr old with) We heard the game winning run for the Twins as we pulled onto the freeway. Yeah, I don't leave early if I have any say...
  5. I have always believed that veterans that have experienced winning, playoff runs, and star status are necessary components of acclimating young players to the bigs. That is why I didn't hate the Hunter signing with the CF prospects like Schafer and Hicks who have not lived up to early minor league projections and of course our future, Buxton, on the way up. Having said that, I don't see Nolasco or Pelfrey as guys that fit that mold.
  6. I watched some Astros Baseball in the day And loved Bagwell and Biggio. To me they always belonged together so put them both in the hall together. Are they most deserving? Hey I'm not discussing that, I just liked them! Honestly, Arguements can be made for most everyone you listed but beyond a doubt the no brainer is Randy Johnson. If he isn't first ballot, no one ever should be again EVER! IMHO, he over shadows the rest of the list And I wasn't even a fan, he was just the best.
  7. Thorough list but I would quibble with you on a few percentages: Meyer: Injury history makes 99.999% a little high (knocking on wood as I type. Seriously, I literally knocked) Graham: As a rule V, I see his % chance of being on our opening day roster as higher than this Rosario: With the hot AFL showing and how he played last year I think 85% he will make team out of ST, 10% he's released after another drug suspension, 5% chance he plays a full minor league season without a call up
  8. Enjoyable list, fun to read but Hunter is retiring here. My optimistic predictions: Rosario comes North out of Spring Training Escobar is traded before the season starts for a minor leaguer in A ball on some teams prospect list
  9. I actually rooted for Dinkelman just because of his name. Not the first or last prospect I liked. Merely because of name.
  10. Option A: He is an all star for the Pirates next year Option B: He signs with the Cubs and leads them to their first World Series in forever and becomes HOF player with legendary status around the world of baseball with some really cool nickname Option C: We never hear from hiim again and he's one of the guys we miss in some trivia question asking us to name as many players as we can remember from the 2010s.
  11. Who do you think will make an all star appearance for the Twins in 2015? My first thought actually was Arcia breaking out and beating a weak Twins field (someone from the team has to go...) Then I thought maybe Dozier as the new face of the franchise, but I decided that the 2nd base competition around the league is strong. Finally, My mind settled on Perkins as the most likely all star pick. What say you? Who will represent the Twins or will more than one go?
  12. My first favorite minor leaguer was Gene Larkin. When he came up as a rookie, I was sure he was going to be a long term fixture on the team. Recently I have been on the Arcia, Thielbar, Colabello and Buxton bandwagons. Thielbar Is from my area so I didn't expect greatness and I jumped off the Colabello bandwagon before his breakout Spring '14... Thought he shoulda taken the jump overseas. I hope he refinds that Spring magic but I would be as surprised as I was last Spring.I still love Arcias passion and believe he will make a couple all star appearances before he's done. I see Buxton as the next Puckett/Killebrew with an impact that will overshadow Mauer. Mauer is a great player, I just don't believe he is the same leader type as those two. Buxton has the work ethic and dedication to make it happen and soon. I dream of him leading us back to the World Series with Arcia barking at his side.
  13. Was thinking of Darnell when I said Albers... My bad.
  14. TR has made more moves than most expected (though he has added exactly what I expected, nothing more or less). I expected a starter to be signed, an outfielder added, and a reliever picked up based on TR's comments at the end of the season. But now I expect even more! We do not have room for Nolasco, Gibson, Milone, Pelfrey, May, and Meyers plus Albers is still here isn't he? Is Pinto really the backup or didn't we (the organization) give up on him? Nunez is still here, what's his role if Escobar and Santana are still here? Parmealee is back in the minors with Hicks (for now) and those two enigmas might do better with a change of organizations. I now believe a trade needs to happen. So my question to you is simply this which one or package of these and others goes first!
  15. I agree there should be a third catcher on the 40 man, just please, let's keep it at two on the 25 man roster the majority of this year...
  16. Or is traded as an MLB ready #4 pitcher on most staffs (and we have too many 4-5s) as a sweetener to the deal
  17. Major league ready with controllability has great value (Milone and Escobar) and quality prospects May and Polanco are not nothing "of value". All are close to giving MLB production soon. 4 long term quality high minors or MLB ready... Thats a lot for one player. Polanco is also a potentially high quality MLB prospect overshadowed by some premier prospects no one would trade in their right mind and therefore undervalued atm in our system IMHO.
  18. Escobar and Polanco for Middle infield concerns Milone and May for pitching replacement and their choice of Pelfrey or Nolasco for salary relief If they want a better pitching prospect, they need to kick in a catching prospect in upper minors
  19. Bringing in Santana locks up only 2 spots IMHO. Hughes and Santana are locks. No one else. This is how you want to bring up a prospect, with competition where they actually earn it. I see Meyer and May potentially shuttling back and forth from Rochester some this year which is good! We handed Hicks the job, howd that work? You never want to hand a job to someone even if they are your hope for contention. You want it Meyer? Then take it. Finally! Were doing this thing right finally!! Spring training is gonna be interesting!
  20. What type of influence do you see Hunter having on Hicks developing into the outfielder he should have become by now and also on Buxton? Has he ever been given credit with mentoring younger players or are we expecting too much from that part of this signing?
  21. Exactly this! And, unlike Diamond 2013 and the beginning of 2014 were respectable!
  22. Hughes-Our ace for now Santana-Our 2nd best pitcher based on previous AL performance Gibson- Potentially our #3 right now but is still young and nothing proven yet Meyer- The top prospect we all hope explodes onto the scene and takes over the number one spot but also a guy that could just flame out and end up in the bullpen. Milone- A proven capable AL pitcher who was odd man out in Oakland and was horrible for us. If he rebounds, he is potentially our third best pitcher based on his Oakland #s. May- He's got the arm of an ace but the control of my grandson. A true wild card we all hope figures it out... Nolasco- The biggest free agency flop in Twins History that could rebound and be our third best pitcher but has to earn it back this coming spring Pelfrey- Another free gent flop that should probably be in the bull pen but what if he actually is healthy and pitches well in Spring training? Can he earn that back? The truth is the haters on Milone are judging him on a small (horrendous, disastrous) small minnesota sample size that is either false or what Beane saw coming when he traded him. I think he's a rebound candidate and FWIW, speed of the fastball is not the only quality that determines a quality MLB pitcher...Maybe of an ace but his numbers in Oakland would have made him our Ace 2-3 of the past 3-4 years... Just saying, ya know!?
  23. Miami has to keep him in AAA don't they?
  24. Lost my audio right after Thomshaw was picked by Miami... Was that the end of the Minnesota connections?
