  1. You might be kidding but the Twins aren't. I expect Jeffers to be gone and his replacement will not be an upgrade. Vasquez resigning on a minimal deal might be the only thing that keeps Gasper off the 2026 roster.
  2. This is what we would have been seeing since the deadline if the Twins had any intention of contending next year.
  3. Twins value defensive versatility over defensive quality. You can have one or the other, not both. Twins have, recently, shown signs of adapting to the modern (throwback) game. They're running and bunting. Perhaps they'll begin to allow their players to focus on and master a primary position.
  4. What changed is the traded players were replaced with AAAA players discarded by contenders. If we had cleared the decks to give opportunity to our top prospects you could see a path to relevancy. Now it's clear the deadline was a straight up salary dump.
  5. This is my expectation, at least until a new CBA. Ryan, Lopez, Larnach and possibly Jeffers gone. Those clamoring to see the kids brought up will get their wish. Falvey and Rocco will be retained if only to keep from paying two salaries at those positions. I expect payroll to settle somewhere in the low 60s.
  6. Bingo. I'm actually enjoying these games. Although the organization is trying to lose the players are trying to win and I still see, every game, incredible athletic plays you won't see in any other league. The FO isn't trying to win, and with that in mind I don't care if they do either. Wins are preferable but I'm not getting bent out of shape when they don't happen. I can enjoy the good plays, laugh at the bad plays, and in the end none of it matters. Let me add, I'm out of the local area watching MLB.tv. No way I'd pay to watch this in person.
  7. If it wasn't clear, this is the plan. Davis, Kriskie, et al are performing exactly as Falvey expects and desires.
  8. I think they've chosen path three. Assume 2027 season doesn't happen. Cut to the bone, write off 2026 and 2027, start your plan 2 under a new CBA.
  9. I'd say they've thoroughly proven winning is in distant second place to making money. Might be third place. I get the impression ownership actually resents the fan base. They want us to buy the tickets, buy the food and drink, buy the paraphernalia, then shut up and accept whatever product the team chooses to put on the field.
  10. All according to plan. Twins organization is trying to tank for draft odds while maintaining a "try to win" attitude in the players. Davis in the pen? Check. Martin at second? Check. Gasper on the roster? Check. Outman? Check. The big question is will the team try to double up on tank seasons through the expected lockout in 2027. If they trade Ryan and Lopez we could be looking at a sub- $70M payroll in 2026. Draft another top five prospect and reset under a new CBA.
  11. Machado may be the worst loafer I've ever seen on an MLB ballfield. I'm still enjoying the post-deadline Twins more than the previous iteration. And yes, I did watch the game yesterday.
  12. I haven't seen every game this season, but in every Twins game I've seen a runner on third is invariably running on contact. I've seen no exceptions. It's Rocco.
  13. The Outman play at the plate was prime Rocco. Why is the contact play on with no outs and first base open? Aside, of course, from the fact we always run it with a man on third. Which negates much of the value as your opponents don't even have to think about it, they know to go home with the throw. Squandering that potential big inning is completely on the manager for taking discretion away from the player and forcing him into an out. Just brutal.
  14. I've finally figured out Gasper's role on this team. He's here to make the inevitable resigning of Vasquez look like a prudent baseball move.
  15. Not all stadiums would kick out fans doing chants Not all organizations are as fan friendly as the Twins. As the recent letter reminded us, everything ownership does is for the fans.
  16. According to our broadcasters Buxton believes he can score from second on a hit therefore he doesn't need to steal third. Counting on his teammates to get a hit is where this plan falls apart. Not even Buxton is fast enough to score from second on an infield ground ball. When you absolutely need a run to tie the game in extras the fastest man in baseball needs to get to third, in position to score on a wild pitch, passed ball, or grounder.
  17. Twins could see if Morrisey is interested in a residency at Target field to close out the season. Twins baseball to get the fans in the mood, then an hour or so of beautiful pop depression.
  18. Ohl has been good every outing for a couple of innings. As his pitch count rises he's been less effective; to my eye a combination of less command and worse action on his changeup. If Rocco can resist the temptation to get a third or fourth inning out of him Ohl should be fine.
  19. Inducing it in his listeners is not an appropriate response
  20. Subpar Mario leading off....is this really the best we can do?
  21. I haven't seen all the games, but from what I've seen Lee is much better at short. He'll never have ideal athleticism but there's a discernable difference in confidence. The organizational conceit that anyone can move down on defense- short to second, second to first - with no impact on team defense is part of the reason the team is so bad in the field. Each position has its unique aspects and subtleties. The Twins rarely allow a young player to concentrate on a position enough to master it, Buxton being the exception to the rule.
