  1. Just like any job hire in any occupation, I'm sure there are many reasons why the FO chose Shelton as the most qualified to be the next manager. So rather than passing any judgment on either the FO or Shelton, let's give the guy a chance to see what he can do with the lowly Twins team. In spite of their successes with other teams, there is no guarantee that the other candidates would do a better job as Twins manager.
  2. (Still a Dobnak fan here) Yep. Poor defense will bite a pitcher in most cases. However, to his credit, Dobnak struck out the first five batters he faced; seven of the first nine. That disastrous fourth inning prevented a great overall performance. Obviously, he had trouble getting through the second go-around. But he recovered in the fifth inning not allowing a base runner. He appears to be pitching better since joining his new team. Perhaps the "change of scenery" is helping. Time will tell.
  3. Although it may seem immaterial to most of you, Dobnak is doing better at Toledo. And although it's just considered "small sample size" (3 starts), he has pitched 12 2/3 innings, giving up 4 runs, 13 hits, 5 BB, 16 K. His ERA is still high but has lowered from 7.31 to 6.38.
  4. Hurray for dogs!!! "Man's best friend". I have a refrigerator magnet which says " I prefer dogs over people". A dog is more respectful of another dog (most are, anyway). Maybe that is something humans can learn from them.
  5. Great letter Cody. It should gives all who read it pause to think. NO ONE deserves to receive death threats or hate mail. No one is perfect and no fan should expect perfection from any sports player. Players feel frustrations from their poor performances, just as anyone would in their jobs. Although people can feel remorse for spieling negative or hateful comments, (as in the case of a fan yelling a derogatory comment about Marte's mother,) they should be aware that the damage is already done. I was once told "words said in anger can never be taken back". It's true. The recipient of the angry comment may live with that comment forever. I mention that from experience. I hope Bailey Ober and his wife receive some necessary counseling to heal from this inhumane experience. (I know. Dumb post. But I just had to say this!)
  6. "Has there ever been anything good to say about him?" Sorry, but there are many people who don't display such negativity about him. And I guess there are some people who are just naturally negative.
  7. Hold on a minute, Bud! If any pitcher should be sent back to AA it should be Raya. It appears that some "prospects" are rushed through the system as soon as they show some inkling of potential. And BTW, have you EVER had ANYTHING good to say about Dobnak?! ☹️
  8. Due to his poor performance yesterday, I'd been wondering when the Dobnak naysayers would come flying out of the woodwork to comment on this board. I guess they're now starting. ☹️
  9. I don't watched the broadcasts, but if they were referring to the Twins bullpen, I wonder what was in the kook-aid they were drinking!
  10. I know what you mean. I don't have a computer and have to type on a phone also. In fact, looking at what I typed yesterday, I typed "Twos" team instead of "Twins" team. I should proof-read what I type before posting it. So, I guess we're "even". 🥴
  11. Who's Donna? No one in the Twins organization that I know of. I have a cousin named Donna but she's not on the Two s team. 😏
  12. "the Twins need a plan". Is there anyone of those top honchos smart enough to devise a smart plan?
  13. It's too bad Baldelli wasn't fired after the Twins collapse and Francona wasn't then hired. "Tito" retired from the Guardians but then wanted to get back into managing a team. Too bad the Twins didn't hire him before the Reds got to him. IMO, he's a great manager. I don't profess to know if the Reds are better or worse than the Twins (but at this point it seems better). But at least the Reds won a game!!!
  14. Correction,: McCaughan, the "ace" reliever, was signed during the OFFseason, not "last season", as I originally posted. My mistake.
  15. Have faith people. News flash! The almighty Twins FO has just called up a "fresh arm" from St. Paul to add to the bullpen. So, reinforcements are on the way!. Darren McCaughan, signed last season when the FO was doing their annual dumpster diving, replaces Randy Dobnak, who was kicked off the team. So, things are looking up after that dismal three-game circus. Hang in there! WS here we come! (I better start saving for my WS box seat ticket! 🥴)
  16. Why would those in the FO want to ruin their reputation by making a smart move?
  17. The reason why Ober was allowed to pitch is perhaps the manager lacks common sense. (Not to mention those in the FO)
  18. Thank you, friend. But you KNOW they won't. They need a "punching bag" and because of his contract, Dobnak is it.
  19. Yep. Rocco is part of the problem. He's made plenty of blunder moves. But IMO, most of the fault lies first with the owner's reluctance to free up some cash so the FO can pursue players other than those found in the dumpster. Sure, they have ".money woes" but give the fans a decent team and the money is recouped via higher attendance. Also, IMO, Rocco complies totally with the FO in order to keep his job I feel the FO has him under their thumbs. Obviously player moral is down for some reason. After Correa being so upbeat during ST about the upcoming season, why is he still hitless? Uncharacteristic of him. Twins players not only need to do well and win the White Sox series. Oherwise, there's a real problem somewhere.
  20. Yep, my friend. I agree. Right now my dream is for him to sign with another organization when the season ends. Even if it's a minor league contract. And then work his way back to being at least a respectable pitcher in the MLB. But, it's always nice to dream I guess.
  21. Zero appreciation. That is the absolute truth. To quickly DFA him after his good performance in that game is a blatant insult. To make matters worse, the game was barely completed when Randy was notified that he was being DFA'd (again). I'm sure THAT news did wonders for his ego. Imagine him feeling good after the game and undoubted receiving compliments from his teammates only to suddenly get that dour news. That is heartless. Then again, the FO apparently is more concerned with Dobnak's "bad" contract than they are with any good performance he shows. That's sad. Also, I read that he is being quickly DFA'd because the FO wants a "fresh arm" from St.Paul, namely Stewart. Why a "fresh arm? Why wasn't Stewart added to the roster instead of Dobnak? Was Randy just being given a one-game "showcase"? To be polite, this organization is far from "5 star" when it comes to running a MLB team. I don't fault Dobnak if he is "counting the days" until this season ends. I wish him much luck.
  22. Speaking of Margot, I know Detroit has played only two games, but here's Margot in those two games: AB-5; Hits-3; RBIs-2; BA-.600. And that's against Dodgers pitching. But, I know - It's a long season!
  23. Just YOUR opinion. If the Twins thought that, why would they have given him that roster spot at all?
  24. OK.No one's perfect. And I admit I'm far from being so. But no one deserves to be harshly criticized because they are not meeting YOUR high standards. I hope you are able to see some good in all people. And NO player should be determined to be "worthless". Give Dobnak a break. There are other players whose contracts are extremely higher than Dobnak's and IMO those players are not earning those high contracts. Dobnak's contract was a gamble made by the FO. The FO offered that contract to him. Anyone would have been foolish to refuse that contract. If anyone is to be blamed for that contract, they are the people in the FO. Not Randy. Yet Randy is being criticized because the Twins now are now $9M+ "poorer" and that money could supposedly have been spent on a "better player". So continue as you "see fit" if you care. But, as I stated in another post, life is too short. Lighted up and strive to be less negative.
