Included in the pink slip recipients was Major League Hitting Strategy Coach Joe Cronin. That's interesting because: A) how in the Sam Hill is that an actual position? and B) impressive to see the Hall of Famer still involved in the game at the age of 119

    Drafting a fullback in any round gets an A+ from me. This has absolutely nothing to do with me watching my former position go the way of the middle guard. We're not extinct yet!

    So they're comfortable with taking the injury risk because they're so confident in their own orthopedic surgeons, but he already had the surgery performed by presumably different orthopedic surgeons. This pick has a mild-to-moderate odor of desperate, wishful thinking - especially when there's no GM to own the consequences of the pick. Big guys with foot problems scare me, and it's not like he's sloppily out of shape (I can certainly see why his upside was so attractive) so I'm not sure this is a very fixable problem Normally I push back on the "why not just trade down???" line of thinking since it you can't just do so unilaterally (similar to "why don't they just re-sign Joe Ryan??" thoughts as if the player has no agency in the decision), but with the Eagles moving up right behind them, it sure seems like that move could've/should've been available

    If you had told me a month into the season that Martin would be in the lineup and Wallner would be on the bench while facing a righty starter, I'd have had some questions Hopefully this is the start of Martin playing every day. Apparently Roden ain't walking through that door any time soon (a torn labrum that doesn't require surgery? I have concerns that this could get worse before it gets better), so I don't see any OF reinforcements coming as I don't think Emma comes up until a full-time spot is available. Certainly could be Wallner getting a AAA reset, but is he even the worst problem in the lineup when Kody Clemens has started half the games with a sub-.600 OPS? This bullpen makes me sad

    The last place team in the NL Central (Brewers - .542) has a higher winning percentage than the first place teams in both the AL Central (Guardians/Tigers - .538) and AL West (Rangers/Athletics - .520)

    This was my first really close look at him, and I was impressed The slider is obviously filthy. I think if he could harness the changeup, that could complement the horizontal movement of his slider really well.

    I think they were tied with the Reds for dead last in road city, not ambience (from the article): The Cubs were first in stadium ambience, and the Chicago White Sox last. The Texas Rangers were first in facilities, and the Orioles last. The Padres were first in road city, and the Minnesota Twins and Reds tied for last. Look at that, Chicago both first and last in stadium ambience I'm guessing "road city" is code for "downtown nightlife" with a sprinkle of "weather"
