  1. They'd still have to put him on waivers. Only after clearing waivers could they release him.
  2. You could make batting practice mandatory. I supported Baldelli's mantra of "you're professionals, prepare how you see fit", because it came with the qualifier, "as long as it works". It's no longer working.
  3. Different people can handle different things. Some people can run 7 marathons on 7 continents in 7 days. The human body can be very resilient. Sometimes it breaks down, we'll see. For now, I'm not concerned, and I'm not ready to say his pattern of use isn't sustainable. He's not showing any signs of wearing down yet.
  4. It's more of a fun stat to see who impacted one specific game the most.
  5. You can't transfer an injured player to the 60 day IL unless your 40 man roster is full.
  6. I'm sure every coach Rosario has ever had, including Baldelli, has told him to cut that out. If a MLB veteran doesn't know to catch the ball with two hands by now, that's not on his current manager. That's 100% on Rosario.
  7. Correct, and I enjoyed the article. Perhaps prediction was the wrong word. A poster ripping the FO for a pitching staff that literally doesn't exist yet is embarrassing. Comments like those, as well as posters regularly ripping Baldelli for plays that he has zero control over, to calls for borderline elite players to be DFA'D every time they make a mistake, to dozens of other absurd posts that are starting to happen on a daily basis, it's getting to the point where Rube Chat was when I finally could no longer stomach it. Sorry to hijack your article. If this post needs to be deleted, so be it.
  8. Unless we use actual results and stats, in which case the pitching staff has improved significantly, even if it still needs improvement. They currently have the 5th best team ERA in baseball. How is that not improvement over the bottom 5 pitching staff they inherited?
  9. I was talking about signing him to play middle infield on the MLB club, which sorry, would be entirely crazy.
  10. I know that it's becoming en vogue around here to pile on Falvey and Levine, but it's hard to imagine any scenario that they'd sign a 35 year old from independent ball, without so much as a single inning of experience anywhere but the outfield, to play middle infield on a 58-36 ballclub.
  11. If May hasn't figured it out by age 30, he likely never will. I don't know why he continues to throw curveballs down the heart of the plate when he's up 0-2, but the fact is that he continues to do so. If he didn't learn his lesson by now, he likely never will. There is simply no excuse whatsoever for attempting that pitch once, let alone twice in back to back appearances.
  12. So now we're ripping the FO not for decisions they've made, but for meaningless predictions that a writer has made? This place is quickly becoming Rube Chat.
  13. That's kinda funny because in the game thread everyone was complaining that Perez was pitching like crap and getting lucky, and what was Baldelli waiting for to take him out.
  14. While I'm glad this guy survived, this falls into the category of such unreasonably stupid behavior, that I couldn't have felt bad if he didn't. http://www.citypages.com/news/dont-try-to-jet-ski-across-lake-superior/512781521
  15. No. He was DFA'd to make room for the activation of Rosario and Cron off the IL.
  16. Haven't seen anything announced yet, but with Buxton still out of the lineup, I'm almost positive it's him to the IL.
  17. Well they're in the starting lineup.
  18. But the Confederate battle flag doesn't represent any of those things. None of those things were reasons they attempted to secede from the Union. I'm not buying that they choose that particular flag to represent those things.
  19. Freeing up room on the 40 for potential trades is an added bonus, but this is a product of needing to make room on the active roster, and the logical choices to make room being out of options.
  20. Cron and Rosario were activated off the IL.
  21. Cron and Rosario were activated.
  22. I think the belief, by some, is that Kirilloff can be better than just a "good hitter".
