  1. I didn't realize bit accounts were allowed on this site.
  2. It only takes 1 team wanting them, not 10 or 20. Go back and read the thread when Jones wasn't protected. Plenty of us knew he'd be selected. The Twins chose to protect Graham over Jones, knowing that Jones was likely to be taken, and now they have neither. This team can talk all they want about changing their view on strikeouts, but when they keep guys like Wimmers and Dean over guys like Jones and Graham, it tells me nothing has changed.
  3. So we should just throw away guys with upside, for no reason, because they are not perfect prospects? Sure, on a case by case basis, you can throw away Gilmartin, Jones, and Graham, for no reason, and probably get away with it. But, eventually you throw away enough of them and one is going to wind up being a productive player.
  4. Tiny sample size. Even a full season is pretty small sample size for a reliever, let alone a month. To be clear, I don't have a problem moving on if they decided he'd never pan out. My problem is throwing away Zach Jones first.
  5. Nunez won't have much value in the off season. Meanwhile, Polanco could be a starting caliber player. This is his last option year. I'd prefer we go into the off season with a decent sized sample of what he can do at the mlb level so we can plan our 25 man roster accordingly.
  6. It's to soon to say if they sold high on Hicks, I'm not convinced we've seen the best of him yet.
  7. You shouldn't transition to development over results in a losing season? I know that the two times in my lifetime that the Twins finally crawled out of oblivion, they did so both times by finally acknowledging it was time to hand it over to the kids and suffer through the growing pains that go with it. He can maintain his trade value by playing 3 to 4 times per week. I think most teams around the league have probably made their evaluation of him, and a few good weeks of high babip SSS play isn't going to change that. Lastly, you have a very high confidence in a front office that, frankly, doesn't deserve it. When was the last time this FO sold high on a player? If you want to trade him, it should be now, while his numbers are unsustainably high. What will they get for him in the off-season, after he's regressed to the mean? Mediocre bat, awful glove utility players aren't highly sought after commodities in December.
  8. If he didn't work out then remove him over the winter. Why compound it by losing Zach Jones to protect him, only to cut him a month into the season?
  9. Part of the justification for spending early round draft picks on them was that they thought they'd be fast movers. Clearly they were wrong.
  10. They gave up 2 players to keep him (Gilmartin and Jones), then gave him one month before selling him. We don't yet know whether he panned out or not, he hasn't been given time.
  11. I would prefer to keep Polanco too, but I guess the argument for trading him is that if he can't get in the lineup on an 8-26 team with its starting SS on the DL, when will be ever??
  12. Why does Nunez need to play regularly? Sure, he's playing well, but we are 8-26 and know what we have in him. Yes, I would prefer Mastroianni or Beresford rot on the bench, how is that even a question? We have a half dozen guys who can come off the 40 man. Polanco and Kepler need to play every single game, I don't care where.
  13. Once again, no Polanco in the lineup. Pure, utter incompetence.
  14. I'm beginning to wonder if Jorge Polanco really exists. I've only seen grainy black and white footage of him.
  15. No, that is not even close to the same. Most players on your roster help you win some, and also lose some. It's not fair to point out a game here or there that a player cost you, since they probably helped you win a few too. This is different. They chose to compete with a 24 man roster against teams who had 25 players. (Graham was only used in games in which the outcome was largely already decided)
  16. 1)They must have been encouraged by last year's performance, because they chose to keep him on the 40 man over the winter, over Zach Jones. 2) As was well pointed out a few posts above, they could have waited one more day and wouldn't have needed his 40 man spot.
  17. And 1 mop up appearance this year convinced them he can't be?
  18. It depends on what your objective for the rest of the season is. If you still think we can make the playoffs, then sure, Murphy should stay down. Personally, I think they have no chance to compete this year. So, stats really mean nothing from here on out. Give as much playing time to the youngsters. We need to start the process of finding out who can sink, and who can swim. There are things you just can't learn about a guy at AAA.
  19. If the Twins have no use for him, why did they carry him on the 25 man roster all last year?
  20. I don't think anyone is disputing that the position players are young. The pitching staff is not young at all though.
  21. Well the problem is, we don't know what, if any things Kepler needs to work on, since Mollie refused to play him when he was here. He's been very unlucky at AAA this year, he's hitting much better than the numbers suggest.
  22. Seth, You didn't answer the first question, so I'll ask another. What part of the plan is playing a whole season with basically a 24 man roster to carry a rule V guy, only to PTBNL him a month into the next season for no apparent reason? No, this FO has no plan. It's all from the hip.
  23. Wow. He must have done or said something that really irked them. They liked him enough to basically play all of last yeasty with a 24 man roster to accommodate him.
  24. You claim that firing Molitor mid season won't fix anything, but later say we should trade Polanco because Mollie refuses to play him. That is contradictory. We could fire Mollie so that a new manager will play him.
  25. We were screaming for top of the rotation pitchers, not #4's and 5's.
