  1. Where did he rank in yards per completion?
  2. What is the historical translation of college k rate to mlb k rate? I'm terrified to think what his k rate would balloon to against pro pitching, but maybe historically it's not as drastic as I'm imagining it would be.
  3. Why on earth would a GM voluntarily handcuff his resources? It's just not logical to think that the Pohlads were willing to spend more money (which doesn't guarantee more wins but can't hurt), and the GM said thanks but no thanks.
  4. You might be right, but on the flip side is that at least the 3 year old might enjoy baseball and have a lasting memory of the experience.
  5. Well someone aside from Castro is going to get 45 to 50 starts. I would give those to Garver. Murphy does nothing for me, neither does another year of service time for a guy already at an age where he will already be controlled through all of his likely productive years. What does the data say for 33+ year old catchers who weren't elite in their prime?
  6. Yeah it's a real question. Just doesn't sound enjoyable to anyone involved- the infant, the parent trying to care for an infant at a baseball game, or the fans in close proximity. I was genuinely curious, as it never even occurred to me to bring either of my kids to a pro sporting event when they were infants. I'm not trying to rip anyone, it's a free country, I was mostly curious of the motivation.
  7. I think it says the most about our QB and offensive coordinator. I guess being a decoy while Sam completes a bunch of 4 yard dink and dunks doesn't intrigue Jeffrey much.
  8. Got ya. Which is surprising to me, given our needs on the line and our available cap. It's a fairly big contract for a guy his age. But he's shown little signs of slowing down, and only 3 million of it is guaranteed after the first year.
  9. Can you expand on that? I'm not trying to be argumentative, I don't know why these things would favor the Rams over the Vikings. He's from Louisiana, so it's not a proximity to family thing.
  10. Why wouldn't we have a shot at Whitworth? Is there something I'm missing about the Rams?
  11. Sorry, I hate to be that guy, but what is the point of bringing an infant to a mlb game? They are not going to have any memory of it.
  12. Given the contract we just gave to Castro, how old will Garver be when we are able to give him 2 of 3 nights catching in MLB? Catcher is the one spot where there is plenty of playing time available for the backup. I'd be fine with a 60/40 split with Castro and Garver. That would give Garver about 65 starts, which is only about 20 or 25 less than he'd likely get as the primary at Rochester.
  13. Mollie will find somewhere to get his DanSan in the lineup. If I recall he had a couple of DL stints last year, or he would have had 300-350. Even with 250 my point stands. That's far too many.
  14. The problem is that Mollie can't help but give DanSan 350 PA's if he's on the roster. DanSan needs to be cut to save Mollie from himself.
  15. The fact that Rule V picks are so likely to be swings and misses anyway is precisely why I would take the player with the highest ceiling every time.
  16. Correct. The Twins April 2017 games will be just as meaningless as their September 2017 games.
  17. I doubt Bradford signs for any less than the $18 million per year that Osweiler got.
  18. Our 40 man roster is actually right in the middle. 13th youngest roster. 25 man rosters not set yet, so no data on that yet, which could obviously be different.
  19. Yeah I get that. But that's not what I'm talking about. I'm annoyed when a pitcher intends to throw it over the strike zone on 0-2. I understand that sometimes you miss your spot.
  20. Rhodes is a shutdown corner and will get shutdown corner money. I expect Bradford to get an extension as well, though that likely won't increase his already high cap hit. With the uncertainty of Bridgewater, you can't risk losing Bradford as an unrestricted free agent.
  21. Isn't there a middle ground between wasting one pitch on 0-2, and wasting 3 to get to a full count. Nothing annoys me more than a pitcher throwing it over the plate on 0-2. The whole advantage of getting up 0-2 is that you don't have to throw the hitter a strike.
  22. IMO Granite's ceiling is a 4th OF'er, so I don't think it matters how soon he takes that role.
  23. Vegas lines aren't meant to be "predictions". They are attempts to get even money on each side of the line so that they earn rake regardless of the results.
  24. One, relatively new and unproven, metric thinks we should have been a low 70's win team. They all say we should have been better, but baseruns is especially generous towards our season.
