  1. 3-19 is not random. In fact, it's so one sided that it almost disproves a claim of randomness all on its own. If it were just random, the expected result would be right around .500.
  2. The Wild are completely lost right now. Lost 5 of 6, and have held a lead for a COMBINED 14 minutes over those 6 games.
  3. Go to a players Baseball Reference page and scroll down to the similar players area.
  4. Ugh. Why can we never have nice things in this town? I get it that Middle Tennessee is perhaps a bit underseeded, but still, a mid major and made us look like we don't belong on the same court. All in all a nice season compared to last year's disaster, but showed that this team still has a long, long way to go to be a final 4 contender.
  5. Base salary is 17 million, with an additional 10 million in incentives, so it sounds like the Vikings have protected themselves a bit in case Thielen falls back to earth.
  6. I agree as well. I'm done underestimating this squad. A deep run would sure be fun, although Butler is a tough draw too.
  7. Probably going to have to draft a punter as well.
  8. This is all true. But, on the other side of the coin is the fact that it's not impossible that there is something in the organization that is contributing to the injuries. I'm not suggesting that something is, I'm nowhere near a position to know either way. But, I don't think the Twins would be doing their job if they don't consider that possibility.
  9. I believe this is two straight starts he's had to be pulled. Luckily Dubnyk has bailed us out. We still have 3 more back to becks this year, and the Hawks breathing down our necks. If Kuemper costs us the 1 seed I'll be pissed.
  10. It could have been such a different story this season if they had played the first 20 games like they've played the last 45. Better late than never though. It will be fun if the Wolves are relevant in a couple of years like the KG/Sam/Spree season.
  11. Thank you. Some crimes are just unforgivable in my opinion. He beat a woman so badly, he broke several bones in her face. That is not a "mistake". That is who he is as a person. It's true that all humans make mistakes, but there are still some behaviors that no decent person would ever do, and I think this falls into that category.
  12. I'm going to have to disagree on Clemmings. He wasn't just bad, he was like the worst ever. The guy we saw last year has no future as a football player. I do think Sirles and Easton could be solid players though.
  13. Vikings let Munnerlyn walk. I hope they have a target to replace him. I didn't see much to like out of Alexander. And, depth is an issue if Newman leaves/retires.
  14. Yeah, and you can find sleeper RT's in round 2 or 3 of the draft. Harder, if not impossible, to find those at LT.
  15. Just to nitpick, you have that backwards. He was league average at LT his first 4 years. Terrible last year at RT.
  16. I hope the Reiff signing is to move back to LT, where he was roughly league average for 4 years, and not at RT where he was awful last year.
  17. That is yards per attempt. I can't find individual ranks in yards per completion, but the Vikings were 31st as a team. I'm not sure there is a direct link between familiarity and yards per completion, but all I can do is hope you are right. I just don't see the dink and dunk approach as a viable championship offense. I hope they take and complete much more down the field this year.
  18. Correct, we should find out soon enough. Keep on mind though that the new regime has already preemptively stated on several occasions that you don't need payroll to build a winner. Benign comments maybe, but also maybe tempering us for later when they face the same constraints. I'll be very interested in 3 things: 1) Seeing if we make a legit attempt at any of the elite free agents that start coming onto the market next year and especially in 2 years. 2) Seeing if they commit to keeping Buxton and Sano long term if they both hit their ceilings. 3) Seeing if they make an all in move the next time we are one or 2 players away- something Ryan never did.
  19. That applies to every franchise though. Not over a small sample like one season, but over say a decade, the luck is going to even out. When one team appears to get more or less unlucky over a span of several seasons then it's likely due to skill, not luck. For example, you could say that the Twins got pretty lucky that ESan and Dozier had great seasons last year. Both are on reasonable to friendly contracts, and it happened right in the middle of a regime changing rebuild. Most teams in a rebuild would love to have cheap, proven tradeable assets like that. However, we chose to double down and try to get more at the deadline or next offseason. I guarantee that if they don't work out, there are some here claiming they got unlucky that those 2 assets lost value, even though we pushed our luck by declining to trade them when they were already right around peak value.
  20. Sure, what Ryan does with his budget is on him. But I think his rhetoric about the Pohlads was mostly him falling on the sword for thrifty owners. I would have liked to see more risk from Ryan- sometimes going all in on an impact player instead of rationing his budget across several safe signings. However, that said, I just find it hard to believe that he would intentionally spend significantly below budget.
  21. Yeah, I wonder if we'd get the same comments about distractions if he was spending his free time reading classic literature, or volunteering with orphans? As an able minded adult, I'm going to go ahead and give him the benefit of the doubt that he can manage his work and free times until he shows otherwise.
  22. It's not newness for me, can't speak for others. I wasn't a fan when we acquired him. Still, the 12 to 15 starts he's going to see in 2 months is far too small of a sample size to tell us anything at all. If the plan is to give JRM another shot, then I think you need to give him a minimum of 200 plate appearances before deciding anything. Again, I'd rather give those to Garver, but if the plan is giving Murphy a shot first, then I hope he at least gets a real shot, not 50 or 60 plate appearances.
  23. The most likely reason for his monetary approach is that he was working under a budget.
  24. Sports is not the same as every other business. Ryan was already at the top of his profession. What position would he be on the move up to?
