  1. Unfortunately we've seen a lot of bad Santana since his hot first 5 weeks.
  2. Well they said no rentals, so not EXACTLY what they said. It was Kielty for Stewart, and though there were a few Kielty believers, definitely nobody cared that ladendorf was traded.
  3. Yes. Not only can Haley be traded, he already has been traded once since he was selected in the Rule 5 draft. Rule 5 picks can be traded, the only stipulation being that the new team is under the same roster restrictions as the drafting team was.
  4. Dude is OPS'ing. 915 at AAA as a catcher. If he's a legit catcher, not elite but not LuCroy/Doumit, it might be time to start looking at him as more than just a depth piece. How long would he have to keep this up before you'd consider replacing Gimenez?
  5. Always saddens me when someone isn't able to overcome depression and takes their own life. My wife and I have both had to witness depression and suicide in our families.
  6. Correct. The casualness of all three officers tells me this is something that is completely routine. It's sad, because I know there are good cops out there, but I'm real close to losing all respect for the police as an entire institution.
  7. My guess would be when Haley comes back: 65% Pressly optioned 28% Breslow DFA 5% Belisle DFA 2% other
  8. You know, if I had a gun to my head I'd probably say this isn't a playoff team, even with help. But, every time I've expected them to fold, they haven't. Therefore, I wouldn't be able to sell. At least not right now. Still over a week until deadline, so that could change. At the same time though, I'm just not giving up any legit prospects. Definitely not giving up Gordon, Gonsalves, or Romero. Would prefer not to give up Thorpe or Wade either. Would consider buying undervalued pieces if I can get them for guys like Jorge, or Granite, or Rosario, etc.
  9. I wouldn't give up Gonsalves for Verlander, but I'd do Jorge and either Rosario or Granite.
  10. Dirty cop accidentally records himself planting drugs. https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2017/7/19/15999806/baltimore-police-body-camera
  11. I'm liking this kid more and more everyday.
  12. I agree. I'm on record many times saying i think Rosario likely has a ceiling of a really good 4th outfielder. But, i still run him out there everyday until a CLEAR better option is ready. You just can't give up on these young guys who had at least some pedigree in the minors - Rosario, Buxton, Polanco. Every prospect has a different learning curve, and sometimes guys outperform their milb profile (think Dozier).
  13. This vote was so egregious its embarrassing. Anyone who voted for Colon isn't qualified to cover baseball, IMO. Willing your team into providing run support isn't a skill, and you shouldn't need any advanced metrics or new way of thinking to realize that. We looked at that stat differently then is no excuse, IMO.
  14. Well the Twins don't carry any savings over to following years- that is not speculation, it's been reported. And, Sano will be relatively cheap for the next 2 years, even with an extension. So any savings on Hughes really doesn't have much to do with spending on Sano. Now, as for cash in hand, I'm sure the Pohlads would love to get some of that money back. Disclaimer: I haven't actually spoken to the Pohlads. It's a personal assumption that he'd like to get money back. As unbelievable as it is, I'm not actually reporting that as a first hand statement of fact.
  15. Sure, I would agree, but that means don't sign him. Promising something and not delivering is bad business, and Colon would have certainly wanted assurance he'd get a legit shot (which like it or hate it, a 1 start sample is not) before signing over the Mets. Now that the deal has been done he's getting a few starts, minimum. Again, all my opinion.
  16. Correct, and it appears he wasn't. I was just brainstorming in response to the guy saying it couldn't be done.
  17. Colon wouldn't have signed here if there was any chance he was going to be cut after one start, regardless of how that one start goes. (In my opinion, of course.)
  18. Probably learn to throw with his left hand?
  19. Colon. In chronological order: 1) 60 day DL Hughes. 2) Add Colon to 40 and 25. 3) Option Vargas. 4) Activate Breslow. 5) Outright Gee. That satisfies any procedural rules, does it not?
  20. Couldn't they transfer Hughes to the 60 day DL BEFORE they outright Gee? That would mean the 40 man was full at the time of the move.
  21. Can you link to some of this angst? I do recall a few posts wondering how soon he'd move up, can't remember much angst, off the top of my head.
  22. I wonder what the structure would look like on a long term extension for Max.
  23. I would have done the deal straight up for DeLeon. Said that at the time too, so that's not in retrospect of Dozier crashing back to earth.
  24. Would she have much chance of disarming a cop who is sitting in the driver's seat (so gun on opposite side of his body from her) while she is outside of the vehicle? Doesn't seem plausible to me. And in fact, the reports are that she was shot through the door. If she had been leaning far enough into the car to reach the cops gun, her torso would have been INSIDE the car, and could not have been shot THROUGH the door.
