  1. Given his age to competition, those k and bb rates are just okay, not great.
  2. Because if you pay for Gray you are paying for the remainder of this year as well. That's a steep additional price when we don't particularly need him anymore this year. You wouldn't pay for a 36 month lease on a vehicle if you didn't need it until month 8, especially in an environment without a fixed price where you are bidding against people who desperately DO need it right away.
  3. As far as keeping his head in the game, I just don't think Rosario will ever figure it out.
  4. Med school would be a crazy grind for a guy his age. Props to him if he still has the stamina and focus at his age.
  5. Or, maybe Buxton is only 23 years old and can still improve.
  6. Correct. Nobody they have dealt or will deal is good enough to preclude us from winning without them. And that includes Santana, who hasn't really helped the team much since the middle of May.
  7. They made a modest move to show the locker room they had their back. The locker room responded by getting swept. At that point there was really no reason to keep Garcia anymore. Of course it's an odd situation, but I like that they roll with the punches. I feel like the old FO would have felt obligated to keep Garcia for some reason.
  8. One can admit that the Stewart pick was entirely defendable, while also saying that it doesn't deserve a "very good" grade based on its results. I find that to be a fair take. Frankly, unless the Twins invite us to visit their inside notes and reports (which isn't happening), it's also completely fair to go off results.
  9. No, even before his blowup the last week or so he had an OPS against in the mid to high .700's vs RH, compared to high .500's vs LH. There has never been a time that he's been "great" against both. At his best he's been great against lefties, and passable against righties. He's very hittable against righties, always has been, most likely always will be, that's just a fact, not some insult that you have to defend.
  10. That's your opinion which is your right. Doesn't excuse mocking those who do believe that getting the calls right when reasonably possible is necessary.
  11. Like I said, agree to disagree. By definition, numerical rankings are indeed better (at least in the rankers opinion), not just different. That is the whole idea behind numerical rankings.
  12. Mistakes by officials is an artificial human element in the first place though. The game is played by the players. There SHOULD be mistakes from them, that is the whole point. The officials are only there to make sure the players follow the rules. Mistakes by them should NOT be a natural part of the game. Its something you live with, if you have to, unless technology allows you to not have to.
  13. We'll have to agree to disagree that 21 vs 16 in the same system isn't significant.
  14. No, I don't have a citation. But, the Twins flipped their #21 prospect( Ynoa) for a guy that slots in at #16, plus a depth catcher and a wild card bullpen/6th starter option. Anecdotal, but good enough evidence for me.
  15. Ideally, Rogers shouldn't really be pitching to right handed hitters in high leverage situations. But, I'm not sure the Twins have enough bullpen pieces to be that picky, unfortunately.
  16. Adding up your odds means that, on average, 3.58 of these players will get traded. Not impossible, but seems quite unlikely to me.
  17. Sure, but you said he's part of the upward momentum - implying the team continues to improve. In a championship caliber rotation he's a middle of the rotation arm at best right now, correct?
  18. Teams might have offered more but wanted the Braves to eat salary. If the Twins eat all the salary they should get a significantly better prospect, IMO. It seems silly that a few million would impact the return so much, but the reality is that it does.
  19. Isn't he a mid level rotation guy now? He's got a 4.95 FIP for the season.
  20. He's only 12th among qualified though. If you include everyone, he's 22nd.
  21. Gonsalves threw 140 innings last year, and has only thrown 74 this year. Not only is he in no danger of hitting an innings limit, he won't even come close to getting enough innings.
  22. Well, Santana, Dozier, and Kintzler aren't clearing waivers, so yeah the deadline matters a lot if you want to trade them. A guy like Belisle might clear, but of course you aren't going to get much back for a guy like that either.
  23. I disagree on Dozier. I can't find a contending team for which he'd be much of an upgrade for. Our shot to trade him was off his career year this last off-season. I think that ship has sailed.
