  1. If playoff runs are a likely outcome of perennial playoff teams, then the 00's Twins should have had a few. It takes a different kind of team to win in the postseason.
  2. Yes, an extension that requires them to pay big money during decline years in order to have him his next 2 or 3. You think its just a coincidence that guys with cheap team controlled years always bring back more return than rentals? I didn't think it was even in question that surplus value is a thing.
  3. Years of control now, during his prime, are much more valuable than years of control via an extension - which requires paying for his decline years. In fact, having to pay for his decline years via an extension actually subtracts from his trade value.
  4. What are you basing that opinion on? From what I've seen, guns might be the most partisan issue in our country.
  5. Lewis was the number one overall pick... in the entire draft. If he's 4th in our system, it was an awful pick.
  6. Buxton had more bWAR this year alone than Rosario has in his entire career.
  7. Wouldn't the job be Pickler's now?
  8. Yeah, hopefully they get corrected over the bye. An effort like that isn't going to cut it against anyone else on their schedule.
  9. I think MLB are still from mid season. I'd imagine Jorge will drop past 10 at least in their spring rankings. As for Sickels, he seems to rank cieling higher, and Jorge doesn't have a high one. And, after this year, even his floor isn't looking as great. I'm guessing Sickels has decided he's a bullpen arm, whereas MLB might still be holding out hope he can be 5th starter.
  10. .....And right on cue the defense makes a play.
  11. This defense giving up 2 TD's in the first half is inexcusable. Have the Browns even scored 2 offensive TD's in a game before this? This D better pitch a shutout in the second half.
  12. If there was even a chance he could play RF in the majors, don't you think the Twins would have at least tried him there by now? I think the fact that Diaz hasn't played even a single inning anywhere but 1B is pretty telling as to his defensive ability.
  13. Trading Buxton would be a colossal mistake, IMO.
  14. Well limiting it to the last 2 years is a bit unfair, given their ages. No, they wouldn't package him with Strasburg, but we'll have to agree to disagree on straight up Rendon/Sano. Rendon is a really good player, don't get me wrong, but Sano is going to put up monumental offensive numbers when he's the age that Rendon is now. And he's obviously under control for a long time yet.

That depends on how you value life. The President is an important person, but on a human level is still just one life. The government murdered as many as 10,000 people poisoning alcohol during Prohibition. Of course we all know about the Tuskeegee Expiriments, and multiple false flag attacks have been shown to have been proposed.
  16. Admittedly, I don't follow basketball near as close as the other big 3 sports, so maybe you are right about Teague and he's just had a rough start. Because what I've seen so far from him has been awful. Then again, the NBA has a really shallow talent pool, relatively speaking, when a guy like Wiggins- good but completely one dimensional, and nowhere need elite, is a max contract guy.
  17. Well he lied about why he didn't show up, so that changes it from a partying issue to a clubhouse issue. But, we all make mistakes, and he admitted he screwed up, so I certainly wouldn't hold it against him.
  18. Sano actually has a higher career OPS+ than Rendon, despite being 3 years younger. I'm not trying to diminish Rendon, but calling him the better hitter is debatable. EDIT: Autocorrect kept changing Rendon to Tendon!

I get its fun to make fun of all the conspiracy nuts, but our government has attempted worse conspiracies. So, we shouldn't just blindly accept everything the government says either.

You make light of it, but obviously if it were a conspiracy they would have provided a substitute corpse. I'm no doctor, but I'm guessing many brains look similar enough to pass.
  21. Then why is Mitch Moreland a finalist?
  22. Ability would be fairly stable, sure. But performance wouldn't be. Why should it? These are humans, not robots. Defense could and should peak and valley just like pitching or hitting. You've never seen a normally good fielder have a bad day? If they are capable of having a bad day, then they are capable of having a bad year.
  23. If Kershaw or Kluber became available, the package would have to start with nothing less than one of Buxton/Sano.

Just to play devil's advocate. Perhaps Ruby didn't actually die of cancer. Perhaps he was given a new identity in Costa Rica, and dying of cancer was his cover?
  25. Yes, that is what I think it would take if Archer hit the open market, with a dozen or more teams bidding against each other. There is just so much surplus value in that contract, and good young pitching is so hard to acquire.
