    Agreed. All the complaining about Duran pitching before the 9th is just infantilizing him. He's a professional athlete. He should he ready to pitch in the 6th if necessary. Man up.

    He's been way under what was advertised. 2024 should have been the year they went for it and he would have been the perfect candidate to bring in a proper 1B or SP before the season.

    Seth Lugo was failed starter. Until he wasn't.

    If he wants to try, I think he should be given the chance. He should be allowed to show up to Spring Training and try to prove himself and if he is able to win a spot, fantastic. If he's able to stretch out and be a 6th starter, jumping up and down from St Paul, awesome. If he fails and just goes into the BP, that's fine too. Refusing to allow a good pitcher to try to be better is just bad management. SP can always fail and go back to the BP, but the reverse can really only happen once a year.

    That's the thing, Twins fans deserve better than for smoke to be constantly being blown up their arse. I just find is so insulting. You can be critical of the team you cover while still being respectful.

    Yeah. This season isn't a success if they somehow limp into that wild card. Pretending it is let's the team off the hook.

    This is a good point if the expansion were separate and not an active change of something already existing. If you hurt a product for the gain of a few, I am allowed to complain. Only 9.1 Million people watched World Series Game 1 last year. That's pitiful. What good is it to provide false hope to some people when the hope you're offering is less and less meaningful?

    I get what you're saying and I believe that you believe it, but I don't think it's actually true. In general, it's not true. We all love a David vs Goliath story, but nobody wants to watch a David vs David story. And as for hope? How much hope you been seeing on this website this week?

    There are 162 games readily available to watch for 6 months of the year. Unless you're telling me you're regularly watching the Diamondbacks, I don't believe you that you want more entertainment, not less. I want better entertainment. Not worse.

    I agree with you that it's not the best way to find the best team but. But this is again why I don't want clearly objectively worse teams in there. Why other than money do we want to watch worse teams play more games?

    Well, all of your criticism of Rocco just lost of a lot of bite then, because that would have been a pretty weak move. To take out the only bat that can currently be classified as "hot" for a minimal platoon advantage against the best reliever in baseball with 2 outs that would make the team worse on the other side of the ball in the near certain chance they go into extras?

    I don't care. They can have some separate NIT-type tournament. If they wanted to be in the playoffs they should have won their division. Harsh? Sure, but they weren't the best team in their division so why should they have to right to play for the designation of best team in the league? Playoffs should mean something, and not just be an avenue for more revenue for our billionaire overlords.

    I just don't get this argument. Why the hell would you want more teams? In my ideal scenario they'd add two teams, go to 8x4 team divisions and get rid of Wild Cards completely. Why we trying to reward teams for finishing 3rd in their own division? Force teams to strive for greatness, and not be content with mediocrity like the Twins.

    This is really sad, and has me even more down on Lee now. He should start in AAA. If Pablo retires as a Twin, I'm betting it's because he had a career ending injury. Someone else said it, but when the Twins said they want to emulate the Rays, we should take that to mean we can expect the Twins to have Pablo on the market THIS offseason. His pay is tripling and the Pohlads don't want to see anything under 25 mil in net income on their asset.
