  1. That's baseball. FAR better is hard to be, but clearly better is a fact.
  2. "Fine, we'll trade Pablo, cut payroll and rebuild" - Pohlads probably
  3. This really has been the biggest disappointment of the season. I thought he was a franchise player. I thought he was a 6 WAR player for years to come. Instead he's going into his age 26 season with only a season's worth of PAs, slow, a weak arm, and no defensive position.
  4. Today's an outlier then. Because while Ks were a HUGE issue last season, they really have improved in that regard this year. Getting rid of Gallo and Julien not playing as much will do that. But even looking only at the Twins collapse, since August 18th, the Twins K rate is 17th. Right smack dab in the middle. Of course, you can argue that this mediocrity leads to the overall mediocrity which I'd partially agree with, but is a very minor issue in the team overall. The red hot Mets and Tigers for example have significantly higher K rates in that same span.
  5. Eh, the tradeoff is players are hitting for a lot more power, which isn't boring. So, it's a tradeoff. Matter of opinion on which is more "exciting" I guess.
  6. Compare that to an actual team leader that's on the bench with injury...
  7. Gonna push back on this criticism. The Twins are actually in the top half of the league in K-rate in high leverage situations. The Guardians are better but it's marginal 22.6% for them vs 23.3% for the Twins.
  8. This is why I can't watch/listen to Twins broadcasts. The inability for anyone inside the Twins Family to be even remotely critical is infuriating. We saw that with the previous Baltimore Orioles ownership last season and all baseball fans rightfully protested.
  9. I love the big meat pete, but I don't know that the Mets give him the contract he wants. I think it's dependent on how it goes with other FA. They're very obviously going to be in on Soto and can't see them adding them both, considering a contract to Pete is going to age as well as everyone expects. Just look at the Ryan Howard contact for a comp.
  10. Could be for 5+ years. He seems fairly legit. Cleveland did a good job getting him for Civale.
  11. The Mets new man, Stearns, really did a great job bringing in SP. He hit on every single one. It's very obviously easier with 260M budget instead of 125M but the Mets have an owner that loves the Mets and is willing to lose money in order to build a winning franchise, and the GM is a childhood Mets fan. No organization has better improved their position the the last 5 years than the Mets. It's really something to see. Effectively the same Mets team is going to be taking the field in 2025, minus Pete but adding Senga, and their payroll will have dropped like $150 Million. And I don't think anyone expects big buck Steve not to add.
  12. Yes, of course! I think they COULD be like the Diamondbacks this postseason. The vibes are just so strong ever since former Twin great Jorge Lopez threw his glove into the stands.
  13. The Phillies and Dodgers are the two best teams in baseball. Those scrappy Dodgers managed to do it with a DH only making $1 Million this season! Real underdog story! /s
  14. I will also doubt that. My New York Mets have 2 pitchers alone. Idk, the Yankees aren't very good either. The Guardians can def beat them. The AL is so much weaker than the NL this season.
  15. He's getting paid 30 million dollars. I don't care if its painful to go out there. If he's health enough to play one game, he should be out there every day.
  16. To be fair, this is a bullpen that is inarguably the best in the league.
  17. Our leader, Correa, missing was a huge reason the team tanked. And I think he become demoralized when they Twins didn't bring anything in at the deadline. And I can't blame him.
  18. Honestly, even if we were in a position to sell, we don't have any assets that would have really brought anything back - Santana, Farmer, and Theilbar? Otherwise they might have, and I wouldn't really criticize them for doing so.
  19. I'm sorry. You're right. The Pohlad's don't care about money at all. That's why they increased payroll this past offseason.
  20. Who gives a ****? Besides the Pohlad's themselves. It's interesting but you're obviously ignoring A) their income from their asset, and B) their direct impact on the value of the asset. The St. Louis Cardinals are in a smaller market and their "asset" is worth 2.55 B. The Brewers are in a much smaller market and their "asset" is worth $1.6B. The Seattle Mariners are in a comparable market and their "asset" is worth $2.2B. The San Diego Padres are in a comparable/smaller market and their "asset" is worth $1.78B. So, the fact that the Twins are ONLY worth $1.48B isn't some inherent thing. It's also due to the failures of the organization, ie, ownership. So wtf are we talking about the poor Pohlad's pitiful return on investment for?
  21. No fan should ever, ever be concerned about a billionaire owners financial statements. Oh no! His asset only grew 9% annually ignoring "dividends" 😭
  22. ...and further indication that none of those teams are actually worthy of being in the playoffs....
  23. You're right. Sloppy on my part. I mean to say that we don't have a right to spend their money. But we absolutely have a right to criticize how they do.
  24. Not exactly because as we know there's no possible chance at a balanced schedule. I was pretty OK with that temporary span we had a second WC team, because a one game playoff is exciting and the first WC was still first loser in their own division and thought it was a pretty fair compromise while actually making it slightly better for the best team in each league. Now? Getting into the playoffs isn't even special. You wanna hang a 2024 Wild Card banner if they do get in?
