    Always remember the 2024 Twins period of successes were a mirage, buoyed by a 13-1 record against the worst team in MLB history. They were ALWAYS a mediocre team and that was entirely evident by early July. Just became painfully obvious in September.

    Hard no to a salary cap. Increase revenue sharing. Hell, even sharing 100% of media contracts seems arguably beneficial. Increase luxury taxes, sure why not? But salary caps do nothing but help the billionaires. Restricting the earning power of the labor is never something I'll support. Even if we're talking about millionaires.

    This entire offseason is an exercise of futility. A tentative front office tinkering with a mediocre (at best) roster in hopes everyone outperforms expectations and they can somehow squeek into a wild card spot to placate an understandably dwindling fan base. Last trade deadline is emblematic of this organization. Directionless. No idea what they should do or how to improve their team in the current day or future.

    If we're being completely honest, the Twins didn't really compete in that series. They lost both games at home, scoring only 3 runs. And that was only the division series. I'm really bored of fans propping up that the Twins won what equates to a play-in series more than an actual playoff series. Woo hoo, they won two games at home against another mediocre team. Congratulations. The Twins have only once in the last 33 years competed in the LCS. The Timberwolves are one of the worst franchises in all of professional sports history and even they have contended more than that. Being a contender requires more than just winning a bad division.

    Are you suggesting billionaires care only about capital and not their communities? How dare you!

    No you can't. What agent would agree to that? He sees FA catcher comps getting 2 years 13. So you want to make this renegotiated deal, 3 years $23? Deferring 2 million from this season? That's not moving the needle at all.

    You missed my point. You called them a good team. There's no evidence to suggest the 4th place finisher in arguably the worst division in baseball last season is GOOD.

    I wouldn't call the prospect particularly high upside. A fine but dime a dozen A+ pitching prospect. Something between Prielipp and Bowen. Plus international signing money they're gonna use to try to get Sasaki.

    Well the Red Sox already traded for a backup catcher so they're not particularly interested.

    I mean...I stated in that very post that the NFL is top dog and inferred they're not subject to the same rules. And even so, the Vikings have still been more successful than the Twins in that time frame.

    The only thing to talk about with the Twins the last fifteen years (with the exception of Bomba Sqaud) was how mediocre they are and how hampered they are by the poorly operated organization. People talk about what people care about. No one cares about the Twins because of the Twins. Now, I love that sort of catty discussion but I'm guessing it doesn't really sell ads outside the NFL discussions, because the NFL is king.

    The partially (10%?) still covid recovery hindered attendance in 2022 was 1.8. And that's the low mark for Target Field excluding the '21 season for obvious reason. Dipping below 1.95 million is true indication of the team losing the fans so we should absolutely expect to see that.

    What's the over/under on attendance this season? 1.85 million? 100,000 less than last season. That's something like 5-10 million loss in revenue... ...better cut payroll some more.

    You can quite literally argue the Padres were the second best team in baseball last season.

    Agreed on everything here. Front office looks pretty pathetic this last year. Kind of looks like Falvey has kind of given up. And I don't actually blame him. Your boss tells you out of nowhere that your project budget has been slashed after you built everything up and delivered on expectations? Oh yeah, they're also selling the company and there's no real incentive to deliver anything. You'd be livid.

    'The Pohlads suck no less than the average individuals who have accumulated obscene wealth, primarily through the exploitation and pillaging of their communities' is not a point in their favor.

    I truly hope Iglesias is too expensive for the Twins. He deserves at least Carlos Santana money.

    I would LOVE for you to do a writeup about how the Pohlads are actually generous with their money in regards to the Twins actually. That time they finally won a playoff game and then cut payroll by 20%? That was them really demonstrating how NOT cheap they are.

    Cleveland just traded their starting second baseman. And the turned around and traded someone they had just got in return. Chicago just traded their ace. There's no FA window and Trade window. There's the offseason.

    I'm sick of fans stating it as if it's just the way things are and no way around it. If you're going to mention it, it must be stated that it's due to the owners that care only about money. If you mention the payroll being cut you should also mention it's because billionaires want a new fancy boat.

    I keep hearing from optimistic Twins fans that the Twins have one of the best farm systems. But this is not really true. This WAS true for a minute when all of Brooks Lee, David Festa, and Zebby Matthews were still prospects after the draft. But they've all graduated, even though it's almost certain Matthews starts the year back in AAA. Matthews is interesting because he lost his rookie status due to days on the roster and not playing time, but that's also cause he was very bad in his first go around that he couldn't stay on the field enough. Even if he were eligible he'd be outside the top 100 anyways. As it stands, the Twins have 1 incredible prospect and two very good, intriguing prospects. And then of course plenty of prospects outside the top 100, as well as Lee and Festa who are going to be leaned on heavily this season (and would be in the top 100 if they were still prospects). There is young talent but this talking point folks have adopted that the Twins have one of the best farm systems needs to go away. It's perfectly fine and good even. But not standing out in any real way.

    I agree. But we also don't have to pretend the people doing the work in the Twins Organization are good at it either.

    No chance in hell he would go to Minnesota. If he wants mid market, he's going to San Diego. If he wants large market and money, he's going to the Mets. Then there's the Dodgers.
